Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ Passion ❯ One Shot ( Chapter 1 )

[ A - All Readers ]

A.N.-This takes place right after Rin breaks up with Haru, what's going through her mind, what she does to deal, etc. Let's see if you can guess what the quotes are from.

Disclaimer: I do not in any way claim to own Fruits Basket, or the characters, yet… (maniacal laughter)

Rin almost winced as she forced herself not to cry out to him has the door slammed behind Haru has he left. She sat in silence. Listening to nothing but her own thoughts.

It's for his own protection she told herself.

He would have just been hurt if you hadn't had let him go, her mind cooed.

If not by me then by Akito. She echoed once more.

She bit her lip. For the first time the silence that wrapped around her like a blanket felt more lonely than peaceful. She needed noise.

After franticly looking around she found the remote for a small T.V. in the corner of her room. When reaching for it and dropping it twice she realized her hand where shaking. She blinked her thoughts away, calmly took a deep breath, and turned on the annoyingly old looking television.

Finding that the cable was only able to pick up two channels she considered which one was less pointless. The first being the news, telling the unusually graphic details of a double murder, and the second being an American show with subtitles.

She was about to change back to the news when some of the neatly types lines on the bottom caught her eyes.

It hurts sometimes more than we can bear.

If we could live without passion, maybe we could know some kind of peace,

but we would be hollow.

Empty rooms, shuttered and dank.

Without passion we'd be truly dead.

Her eyes stung and she hugged her blanket close to her has she wept. For the first time in what seemed like forever, she wept alone.

But then she remembered a familiar warm touch that used to contort her, the voice of a boy who spoke beyond his years. The smell of his wet hair after a shower, and she felt the warmth inside her grow once more. Even she couldn't be with him, a part of him will always be with her.

The memories of simply being with him are a gift. He showed her passion, happiness, and above all, love.

But still, she wept. Alone.

A.N.-Yup, the quotes are from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, more specifically, Passion (The episode name).
