Authoress Note: I put this under self insertion because even though I don't live the life of the character, she resembles me in every other possible way. This would basically be me if my family was dead and I lived with an abusive and perverted cousin. Just don't get the idea that I have been raped or abused or anything. I live a pretty good life.

A/N: Thank you guys so much for reviewing. It's awesome to feel that some of my stuff is appreciated. Ok, that was ultra-cheezy, but whatever. It works. Also, sorry for not writing sooner. I actually wrote this in June, but I've been on vacation practically all summer, and just got this down on the computer.

6: Surprise


Hatsaharu Sohma was wandering through the woods in search of Shigure's house and trying to convince himself he knew where he was.
"I'm not lost. I'm not lost! I know exactly where I'm going. It's...that way!" he shouted as he pointed in a random direction.
Suddenly he heard a noise. He looked up to see an unconscious Mimiru falling through the trees, heading right towards him.
*POOF*
"Well, I didn't see that coming...." Haru, now a cow, started walking in the same direction he had pointed earlier as a human.


Shigure put the phone back on the hook and sat down at his table to join his guests.
"Well, this is bizarre," he murmured to himself.
"What?" asked Kyo and Savannah at the sane time. They looked at each other, then looked away. Savannah was not speaking to Kyo for the time being, no matter how many attempts to apologize he made.
"It seems Haru had an unconscious girl fall on him as he was trying to come here to meet you, Savannah. Now is it just me, or is this the second time some random girl has been found, unconscious, on Sohma property?"
"What did she look like," asked Savannah.
"Short, with curly, dirty blonde hair. Blue and grey eyes. Weird tan-line on her legs. Only her knees are tan."
"Mimi!"
"You know her?" asked Shigure.
"Hai, she's one of my best buds. But how did she get here?"
"The same way you did, for all we know. I should call Ha'ri and tell him she's one of your friends."


Mimiru awoke to see a blond, young looking boy looking down at her. "Good, your awake," he said in his cheery, little voice.
"Who are you? Why am I here? How did I get here? Are you working with Savannah's cousin? Did he attack you? Where's Savannah?"
"Oh, Savannah's fine. She's at Shigure's house."
"Who the heck is Shigure?"
"You're friends with Savannah, right? So you know about the curse?"
"Curse? What curse? Are you cursed? Get away from me!" Mimiru screamed as she pushed the boy, Momiji, back and ran into a corner of the room. She then started rocking back and forth in a fetal position.
Hatori walked in and looked to the bed his newest patient had been laying in to see Momiji on the floor and Mimiru in the corner. "Do I really want to know what just happened?"
"Aah! You! Are you cursed, too?"
"I know I'm going to regret this, but," Hatori muttered, "What just happened here, Momiji?"
"Well, Savannah said she knew her, and Savannah knows about the curse-," Momiji started.
"What? Is she cursed, too?" asked Mimiru.
"No. Now, please continue, Momiji," Hatori answered calmly.
"Well, I assumed she knew, too. So I mentioned it. And, well, you can guess the rest."
"Unfortunately so," the doctor muttered under his breath. Then louder, he asked, "Mimisu, was it?"
"Mimiru. But how do you know my name?!"
"Right, Mimiru. Savannah told us. Now I guess I have to explain our curse to you."
Mimiru continued to rock back and forth, but muttered, "Ok...."
"Have you ever heard of the Chinese Zodiac?"
"Sort of. I mean, I know most of the animals, but not the order and stuff. Savannah's been obsessed with it lately. From some anime, she says. Something Basket...? Been meaning to watch it."
"Since the story is a bit complicated, I'll summarize it. For generations, my family, the Sohma Family, has been cursed. So many generations, not many know why we are cursed. Only fourteen members of the family are cursed. The head is constantly sick, and the rest are possessed by spirits of the Chinese Zodiac."
"But there are only twelve animals in the zodiac."
"In the legend, the cat was tricked by the rat into missing a party. The twelve animals and the cat."
Mimiru started rocking faster. "And how do they show this 'possession'?"
"When hugged by a member of the opposite sex, or if our bodies are under a great amount of physical stress, we turn into the animal we are possessed by."
"We? Our? You're cursed?"
"Yes."
At that moment, Mimiru jumped up and hugged Hatori.
*POOF*
There, in the pile of clothes, was the seahorse that was Hatori.
"Ack! A seahorse isn't one of the animals! What do I do?!" Mimiru screamed in panic, forgetting about Momiji.
"Quick, come with me. Let's get some moist towels," the blond boy said as his older cousin flopped helplessly on the floor.
"Still panicking, Mimiru fell to the floor and began hugging her knees again. Despite this, Momiji continued to head towards the bathroom for the towels.


"I'm really sorry about that," mimiru said with her head down after Hatori had finished redressing. "I didn't know a seahorse was part of the zodiac. I was just kinda curious about how it worked."
"It's fine. The seahorse is supposedly the dragon of the sea. You could not have known. Would you like to speak to your friend?"
"Savannah? Yeah! Would it be too much of a hassle to make it possible?"
"Not at all. She's already on her way. We described you to her, and she reconized you almost instantly," Hatori answered.
Almost on cue, there was a knock on the door to the outside. Before Hatori could answer the door, Savannah threw it open.
