A/N: I haven't read the Fruits Basket Manga so I don't quite know what that entails, but I have seen the 26 episodes of the Anime (English dub), so I'm using my own imagination to write the adventures that occur after Tohru sees Kyo's transformation and goes to see Akito. My goal is to write mini books instead of one big story so that the plot line can change a little. It's an experiment for me. Also, I read somewhere that the Manga revealed Akito as a girl, but for my own reasons he will be a boy. I hope this doesn't bother anybody. I hope you enjoy.

Hi, my name is Tohru Honda. Nineteen months ago my mother passed away and since then I've come to live with the Sohma family. They're all great people who have their own special qualities. They're also cursed. When they are under a great deal of stress or hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they transform into the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac and the Cat. Last month we went through quiet a few ordeals, but now things are back to normal and I want to share as many of our adventures as I can with you.

Tohru Honda looked up at the sky. The forecast hadn't called for rain, but dark clouds were coming towards the house. She continued to pull the laundry from the line at a brisk pace, hoping that the rain would hold off until she had a chance to get inside. As she pulled the last sheet from the line she felt a fat raindrop hit her nose.
Tohru quickly grabbed the basket that the clean clothes and sheets were in and hurried into the house. She barely made it before the rain started to pour. The young housekeeper sighed in relief and placed the laundry in various rooms around the house before returning the basket to the laundry room and walked into the sitting room to check on the other occupants of the house.
“Oh Tohru, I was hoping you hadn't gotten soaked. After all, the last thing we need if for our beautiful flower to get sick,” Shigure Sohma, the eldest occupant of the house, said.
“Shigure, if you say that again, I'll knock you through the roof,” came the voice of Yuki Sohma, Shigure's younger cousin.
“Oh, Yuki, you're so cruel,” Shigure replied with fake tears streaming down his face in the hope that he'd receive some sympathy from Tohru.
“Stop complaining you damn dog,” came the tired and annoyed voice of Kyo Sohma, another of Shigure's cousins from the corner of the sitting room.
“Kyo, are you Ok,” Tohru asked in concern after hearing how tired he sounded.
“I'm fine, it's all this rain. You know how I get.”
“Ok, but if you need anything let me know.”
Kyo didn't acknowledge the last statement she made. Tohru didn't mind since that was how he always was. After all, the rain zapped him of his strength. It was one of the many difficulties of being the cat of the zodiac
“Miss Honda, were you able to get all of the laundry before the storm,” Yuki asked.
“Yes, I just barely made it.”
“Good, I'm glad.”
At that moment, Shigure's stomach began to growl. He laughed and began to rub the back of his head.
“I guess I'm hungry.”
“I'll get started on dinner right away, then.”
Tohru walked into the kitchen and started to prepare dinner for herself and the three Sohmas that she had been living with for just over a year. She smiled as she remembered many of the good memories she had with the Sohma family. Besides Shigure, Yuki, and Kyo, she had met nine other members of the Sohma family and liked them all. She even liked the sinister head of the Sohma family, Akito.
Tohru quickly finished dinner and took it out to serve to Shigure, Yuki, and Kyo. She finished serving the food and sat down at the table in between Yuki and Shigure. Kyo remained in the corner where he had sat since the rain had started.
“Kyo, are you going to come join us?” Shigure asked.
Kyo moaned a `no' and remained in the corner.
“Oh the shame, sweet Tohru cooked all this delicious food for us and you won't eat it,” Shigure whined as always.
“Oh no, it's all right. Kyo are you sure you're OK.”
“Don't worry Miss Honda. That stupid cat is just being a pain like always.”
“Shut up, you damn rat!”
Yuki smirked slightly, knowing he was getting on Kyo's nerves. It was common for the cat and the rat of the zodiac to despise each other, especially since the rat was the one who tricked the foolish cat in the old folktale. It only made since for the two to argue through the ages.
“That's it, I'm going upstairs.”
Kyo slowly rose and walked out of the room. A minute later, the three of them heard a crash and a popping sound. Tohru ran to find an orange cat laying in a mass of clothes at the bottom of the stairs.
“Kyo, are you Ok?”
Kyo didn't answer and laid on his clothes with his eyes closed. He hated the rain and on top of that he didn't want to think about being ill.
”Tohru, why don't you take Kyo upstairs and put him in bed. I'll check his temperature when he changes back,” Shigure said.
“What caused him to transform though?”
“He fell down the stairs because he is both sick and worn down by the weather. Most likely the stress made him change.”
Tohru gently reached down and scooped up the orange cat into her arms as well as Kyo's shirt and pants. She gently carried him up the stairs and placed him under the covers in his bedroom before returning downstairs. Shigure had finished eating and went to find the thermometer so that he could take Kyo's temperature. Yuki had waited for Tohru to return so that she wouldn't have to eat alone.
“You didn't have to wait for me, Yuki. You could have eaten.”
“It's no trouble. I wanted to wait.”
As they finished, Shigure came back down the stairs.
“How's Kyo?” Tohru asked immediately.
“He's sick. I'm going to call Ha'ri and have him come over to have a look. Meanwhile Tohru, could you take a wet cloth up to him so that we can bring down his fever.”
“Sure,” she said as she continued to clear off the table.
After she had finished, she filled up a bowl with cool water and placed a cloth. She very carefully carried it up the stairs to Kyo's room. Tohru knocked and when she received no answer she opened the door a little and peaked in. Kyo was lying in bed asleep.
Tohru smiled as she placed the bowl of water down next to him. She pulled the cloth out of the water and wrung it out the best she could before placing it on his forehead. He moaned softly in his sleep. Tohru smiled and left him so that she wouldn't wake him up. She returned downstairs, where Shigure was on the phone with Hatori.
“Well then, I'll see you tonight then Ha'ri. Bye,” he said as he hung up the phone.
“What did Hatori say?” Tohru said.
“He'll be over as soon as he gets a free moment. Don't worry too much, Tohru. Kyo will recover in no time. Why don't you make something for Kyo to eat that'll help him recover? I'm sure he'll want something when he wakes up.”
“Ok,” Tohru said as she headed towards the kitchen just as Yuki came in from outside.
“Oh Yuki, what were you doing outside. It's raining”
“I went out to the secret base to get some leeks. I know you would want some for that stupid cat,” Yuki said.
Yuki didn't want to do anything for Kyo, since he was nothing but a stupid cat, but he knew Tohru would do anything for Kyo. She would even go out in the rain to get vegetables from the base in the pouring rain. Plus he would get a chance to hear Kyo complain about how he hated leeks.
“Thank you, Yuki.”
“It was no problem. I wasn't about to let you go out and get wet, Miss Honda.”
“Awww, how cute. Yuki, you're trying to woo our precious flower by helping her,” Shigure said from the doorway
Soon a sharp knife imbedded itself in the door next to Shigure.
“Next time I won't miss,” Yuki said looking scary.
“Oh, Ok” Shigure replied scared, before taking off as fast as he could.
Tohru hurried up and made some leek soup. She smiled as she remembered the time where Kyo had once made it for her. She had been sick before a retest and it had taken him a lot of effort to make her the soup and to try to cheer her up. Maybe she could do the same for him. Just as she was about to take the soup up the stairs, Hatori arrived.
“Oh, Hi Hatori, we weren't expecting you so soon.”
“I had some free time sooner than expected. Now where is Kyo?”
“He's upstairs in bed. I was just about to take this up to him.”
Hatori started for the stairs with his bag in his hand followed by Tohru with the soup. They entered Kyo's room only to see that he hadn't woken up yet. Tohru placed the tray on the nightstand and watched Hatori as he checked Kyo.
“It seems that he has a cold. Mixed with all this rain, it made it worse He'll need lots of bed rest and some healthy food. Don't let him get out of bed for a few days,” Hatori said as he injected some medication into Kyo's arm.
“He'll be all right though.”
“Ow…that hurts,” came a sound from the bed.
“He'll be fine in a few days. And as for your comment Kyo, It's not my fault that you've always had deep veins,” as he left the room to find Shigure.
“Shut up, you're giving me a headache.”
“Um…Kyo, I made you some leek soup.”
“What were you thinking? You know I hate leeks,” Kyo yelled before he had a small coughing fit.
“Are you OK?”
“I'm fine.”
“I can make you something else if you want. I just thought since it made me feel better than it would help you.”
Kyo saw that she was on the verge of tears. He hated to see her cry, and after what she had done for him in the past month, he couldn't turn the soup away.
“No, you don't have to. I'll eat it because you made it.”
“Oh no, I can't let you do that, it wouldn't be right. I'll make something else.”
“Kyo, how could you turn down the cooking of our precious flower?” Shigure teased from the doorway.
“Shut up. It's LEEK soup and all of you know how I hate that stuff.”
“Still how cruel, to refuse the soup that Tohru put her heart and soul into,” Shigure said as he quickly shut the door so that Kyo couldn't yell back.
Kyo hissed in annoyance at the closed door before he realized that Tohru was still in the room. He put his head down and sighed.
“Tohru, I'll eat it, OK. You made it for me so that I can get better. Just let me eat it.”
Tohru looked at Kyo and smiled.
“Ok, I'll be back to get the tray in a little while. Just eat and get some rest.”
Kyo waited until she was gone before getting up, grabbing the soup, and walking over to the door. The rain had stopped and he wasn't really going to eat the soup. He walked out on the balcony slowly and looked to see Shigure talking outside with Hatori. He grinned and casually tipped the soup over so that it fell on Shigure before walking back to the room and climbing back into bed with his grin still on his face.
“Got you back you damn dog.”
