Kyou woke up sweating, looking around. The atmosphere, it wasn't the same.

Where am I? Whe-wKhere's Tohru? Wha-why aren't I in the hot spring? He was

in a room, one of the rooms of the Sohma Hot Springs. He looked down, only to

see a light blue blanket covering the other half of his bare body. Had it

all...been...? No, it had been too

real, too important to be just an empty fantasy. It couldn't have been JUST

that.... a dream. Dreams.....dreams aren't real, but, that was real, wasn't

it? Wasn't it?! He began to cry, clutching his hands into fists. This is the

worst torture, how could.....if there's a God, he's a crooked bastard!

Kyou flung the sky blue blanket from him furiously, rising to seek out Tohru.

But the blanket's uplifting had revealed a resting young woman, just in arms

reach from where Kyou had sat, quarreling with reality just a moment ago.

Kyou turned his angry, tearful eyes to the figure

laying so tranquil in slumber, and instantly his pain-filled gaze softened.

That was the magic of Tohru, or, better, the magic of their love.

Tohru, peaceful, her smooth white skin presenting a delicate contrast to the

dark gray sheet she lay upon. The small hands placed gingerly underneath her

head, as she rested on her side. Kyou, overcome with great joy, relief, and a

mix of that foolish feeling, when you realize you might have over reacted.

That feeling always annoyed me...but now, it doesn't feel so bad. He reached

his hand out to stroke her hair, which fell in graceful waves across her gentle

face, setting out in spirals along and around her small frame.

Slowly, her soft brown eyes opened. She blinked slowly, taking a moment to

awaken. As things became clear, she moved her half-lidded eyes to Kyou, who

was lightly stroking her hair. A burst of love came out inside of her, reaching

her face. This love lit the goofy smile that Kyou so adored, and it was

contagious. He smiled at her, bringing his head down, his lips to hers. They

brushed their lips against one another, both smiling, that morning smile, and

with it came a morning kiss.

Kyou pulled from the kiss, leaning back to collect the view, which, in his

mind, couldn't have been more divine. She lay with her back open to lovely

garden, and a morning sun shone through, reflecting off her milky white skin, her

skin slightly flushed from Kyou's eyes wandering over her.

She still lay on her side, smiling at Kyou's presence, at the care he emitted

just from his deep red eyes. He cherished her, and she knew this; it was the

sense of comfort, the eternal understanding that carried her spirit far above

the turbulance of the tragedies in her life. Those deep, hidden

sorrows...they seemed to be eating away at her happiness; extinguishing joy before it

could make itself dormant within Tohru's heart.

<But, will it bring him down, to talk of my worries?> she thought.

FLASHBACK: "You can be a little selfish."

Tohru sat up, clutching a pillow, and hugging it with the whole of her body.

Her face turned from simply content, to troubled. Kyou moved closer to her,

reaching out to lift her face from where it lie buried in the pillow. She

felt his hand gently nudge her head so that her eyes would meet his. Those dear,

loving eyes.

"Kyou," she started, "Can I speak to you about, something....that is, um...."

Looking at him from beneath a shade of hair, she didn't know whether to move

on.

Kyou then said, "I'll listen, Tohru. You know, you don't have to bear things

alone, anymore."

He smiled as he brushed her veil of soft brown hair at her temple, so that he

could meet her averted gaze. Seeing Kyou's smile, and feeling his hand on

her cheek relaxed her weary, eyt anxious nerves.

And she began.

"Kyou I've told you, well, almost everyone I meet about my mom," she paused,

pulled the pillow tighter, but carried on. "I've always believed she was the

greatest person that ever lived. Mom loved life, so much...much more than

anyone I ever knew. I don't understand Kyou...." She clasped her hands with

Kyou's, blinking back tears.

"Why....why did she have to die?" Her tears fell silently onto their hands.

"I know it would be selfish to say that she left me alone...but isn't that

what happened? But I shouldn't blame it on anyone? There's no one to....blame."

She sighed heavily, but Kyou could see that this was helping her. It had

been hidden away for so long. He nudged her with his nose encouraging her to go

on, to let it out...set it free.

"I thought, surely, I'd be swallowed by my grief, but then, I met you, and

the Sohmas. It's as if someone let me meet you, as consolation for mom's death.

But, I wonder what would have happened if I had a choice? Wh-what if I had

never met you in exchange for mom being alive-?"

She began to sob uncontrollably as Kyou moved in to embrace her. She felt

small droplets upon her back, and squeezed Kyou tight, throwing the tear stained

pillow to the side. They could now embrace. They found that making love had

broken the irritating boundary, and it gave them bliss. As they held one

another, Tohru gathered her strength, and whispered into Kyou's ear, "But if I

had that choice, Kyou...I would have chosen you."

His eyes widened, but her turned his head, bringing her into a kiss that

would seal their boundless love.

Meanwhile, behind a thin paper wall, not too far from where Tohru and Kyou

embraced upon their futon, Yuki stood. He glared at the wooden floor, fury

etched in every line of his beautiful face. It was twisted in hot rage. His

hands shook, clenched in fists, knuckles turning ghostly white. The deep purple

eyes raged a storm as his pupils narrowed to pinpoints.

<THIS will not be overlooked> he thought.

To be continued, if anyone wants it to be....I guess, er, byu
