Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ Withheld Curses ❯ 00 - Introduction ( Prologue )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Intimacy. It’s something that humans treasure. But with the Sohma family, this intimacy is a delicate piece of business. Their curse forces them to remain apart.

It’s just one example of the many curses floating around the world. There are far more. Open a book, any children’s tale. There they are, plain as day. Such as Sleeping Beauty pricking her finger on the spinning wheel, cursed to stay in deep slumber until her prince would revive her with a sweet, innocent kiss. Or the hex on the Swan Princess, doomed to live half of her life in the body of a swan until her love would make a vow of everlasting love.

There are things which are more basic, which do not require magic or the imagination of a talented writer from years past to portray.

Within this collection of narratives, set within the time frame of the Fruits Basket story, or in an altogether different time and place, curses of every day people will be delved into. How will each person overcome their own personal curse is a mystery that will be explored.

Do you dare to conquer your private curse?

Extra Information:

These stories can be read in any order. None of the events which occur in one story effect another. (Examples: character deaths, character pairings, and events, are exclusive to one particular story. Treat them as separate entities.)

I am not going to divulge what pairings occur in each story. I feel that ruins the surprise. However, here is a list of pairings (some are canon, but most are ridiculously not canon because it’s so much fun) which will appear in the chapters, whether they are hinted about, joked about, or are actually full fledged romances. The list is sorted by male characters:

Akito X Tohru
Haru X Kisa
Kyou X Saki
Kyou X Uo
Makoto X Tohru
Megumi X Momo
Yuki X Motoko
Yuki X Tohru
Shigure X Kisa

Other pairings may appear in the future; these are simply what I have planned so far.

I hope that you will enjoy this series of short stories! Thanks for reading!
