Chapter One: To Protect The Innocent

Sakura was positivlly elated. And why shouldn't she be? She was on her way to the top of Tsunade's head on the summit of the Hokage Monument to meet with Naruto for a picnic to celebrate the duo becoming Sennin rank ninja's. Naruto himself had skipped the ranking of Chunin and Jounin completely and would not stop bragging about it. Sai would be joining them a little later so the three of them could go to the Sound Village for a couple days together to visit the Otokage, Sasuke, as a vacation.

She finally spotted Naruto sitting on an orange and blue blanket, setting out ramen for himself and syrup-coated anko dumplings and umeboshi for Sakura. "Hey Naruto I'm he-" she called cheerfully before her foot sank into the ground and she fell into a deep pit in the ground. "Damnit..."she muttered before her eyes widened in shock when a pretty lime green light enveloped her and she suddenly began to feel as though she were falling threw water.

A few seconds past before her feet once again settled on solid ground. Darkness surrounded her like a shroud as if she were suddenly in a cave so she causiouslly took out a seal and summoned a low powered lantern. A ladder was in front of her leading up to a sealed wooden lid while the walls around her were of dirt and she realized she was inside a dried up, sealed up well.

'I have to get out of here,' Sakura thought intently and she cleanly punched threw the well lid and deftly landed on it's edge. This took no longer than a fraction of a second. A beautiful looking field of green was surrounding the well and to her surprise there were two young boys and a girl, each about the age of five, standing a few yards away from the well, gawking at her like she was something completely bizarre.

"Excuse me kids, can you tell me where I am?" she asked, seeing nobody else nearby.

The boy with dark blond hair and brown eyes flushed slightly and he said, "You're in Resembool, miss."

"How did you get into that well?" The gold-eyed boy demanded, "Was it Alchemy?"

"No, it was an accident. It could have been a transportation jutsu but I find that a bit hard to believe. Am I in Fire Country?"

The girl laughed and said, "No silly, this country is called Amestris."

Sakura's eyes narrowed and she muttered, "That's very strange..."

"No it's not strange," the dark blond haired boy said with a shy smile, "We all made a wish on the well you see...we do it every year on the first day of summer. I got to wish this time and I asked the well for a fun friend we could play with while Winry's parents were away."

"Hmmm...I suppose if a seal were inplanted on both sides of this well it could act as a type of gate, though it dosen't explain how a trio five-year-olds would have enough chikara to activate the seal..." Sakura muttered, thinking out loud to herself.

"Hey! I'm not five I'm six!" the gold eyed kid yelled at her as he stood before his two friends, shaking his fist in a threatening manner. Great...she had stumbled across a land where a temper-heated Naruto double existed.

"What are your names?" Sakura ventured.

"You tell us your name first you old hag!" the six year old growled suspiciouslly.

Before she could inflict a satisfactory punishment on the kid the girl beside him wacked him with her doll, "Ed! You don't call girls hags! That's rude!"

"Well she's suspicious Winry! I have to keep her from hurting you or Al. She could be a bad person from the military you know!" the boy, Ed said with a slight whine in his voice.

Sakura just chuckled at them, to be young and innocent like them again would certainlly be nice, "I don't really see myself as someone bad you know. And my name happens to be Sakura."

The dark blond boy, Al if she heard correctly, excitedly ran up to her and said, "Then come and play with us Miss Sakura. We can go swimming by the pond!"

Sakura sighed and shook her head saying, "I'm sorry but I have to go home. My friend Naruto is probably worrying about me."

"Won't you please come back and play with us then?" Al begged, giving her a pout that melted her heart entirely. 'I'd hate to be his mother. Punishing him would be like kicking a newborn kitten...'

"Hmph, she probably would't be fun to play with anyway," Ed said with a scowl, "Girls her age only care about work, boys and not getting dirty."

Sakura glared at the brat who was trying her nerves and said, "I do too have fun! I have parties with my friends, train, go swimming and visit my friends in other villages."

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? Four little brats who wondered a little too far from home..." a sleezy, gravely voice spoke gidily from behind Sakura. She quickly spun around, only to see a grizzled looking man in his late twenty's who wore a strange tattered blue uniform, and a crazed look glazed over his eyes.

"Who the heck are you?" Sakura growled, placing herself between the guy and the kids he was staring at hungrily.

"Me? Nothing more than a military dog who saw a little too much war. Hehehe-hahahaHA! I left them though. They were going to court martial me...take away all my honor...after all the help I did...my general seemed to think my affexation to skinning Ishbalan brats while they still lived was a little too much to handle...and now I see more kids...their blond heads would look so pretty stained with red, don't you think pink-brat?"

"You sick freak." Sakura growled, "Back off or I'll imobilize you permenantly I won't allow you to hurt these innocent children."

"But their innocence is SCREAMING OUT TO BE DESTROYED!!" He howled and brandished a long, curved blade that Sakura knew wasn't coated with rust.

He ran towards her, pathetically slow to her point of view, and threw it towards Ed, who had put himself in front of his two friends. 'Shit' she thought and with over a decade of instinct showing, she intercepted the blade with her own arm. "Are you kid's alright?"

"W-we are Miss Sakura, but what about your arm?" Al asked with tears and fear lacing his voice.

"Don't worry about me. You three run home to safety and I'll take care of this psycho." Sakuura urged, her eyes and tone leaving no room for an argument.

"B-but your arm Miss Sakura..." Al cried, not allowing his eyes to tear away from the gash.

"I told you three to run NOW! GO!" she hissed and the three immediately rushed north, over a hill and towards what she hoped were their homes. She wasn't aware that the trio actually stopped and stayed behind to make sure she would be safe. If things took a turn for the worse they would be there for her.

"That wasn't very smart little brat. I'll have you know I'm a State Alchemist. I'm known as the Crushing Ground Alchemist and nothing you can do will stop me from tearing you and this whole village apart!" He pulled out a ring with a glowing red stone in it and slipped it on his middle finger, "BEHOLD MY POWER!"

The ground benieth Sakura's feet began to roll and shift with the power of a 5.4 earthquake! Rock spears the size of trees burst from the ground at all sides around her but she was a seasoned ninja, and quickly dodged the spinning ground blades, "I think I see now. That ring lets him use a special jutsu without handseals. But he's not using his doton technique very well...I'll end this attack with one punch!"

"HOW DARE YOU TRY TO HURT THAT LITTLE BRAT! FEEL THE STRENGTH OF A MEDICAL NINJA OF KONOHA!" Sakura lifted her fist and with all the finansse her chikara control allowed her, punched the ground before her and threw the shockwave, sent the 'Crushing Ground' Alchemist flying into the ground ten yards away.

"You little witch, how the hell did you redirect my attack!?" The man hissed.

"I told you already, you psychopathic freak. I am a medical ninja of Konoha and it's my personal pleassure to keep freaks like you from hurting children. I'll finish you with my Sakura Fubuki no Jutsu!"

Sakura took out several dozen kunai with exploding tags on them and threw them all at the man's feet and once he was surrounded she detonated them with a handseal. The forse of the blast was enough to knock him flat and unconsious.

The ground of the field was warped and ragged from the battle and Sakura sighed. At least those kids were safe now. She could go home. She turned to the well and her face twitched in cold fury. A rock spear had totally smashed the well portal and all that remaned of it was a hole and very fine pieces of shattered wood. 'I will destroy that man...'

"Ah ha! There he is men!" Sakura turned to see a tall dark-skinned man with a pointed moustashe and burly body point to the crumpled heap of the crazed alchemist. "Scout the area and see if there are any witnesses to this distruction. You girl! Tell me what you saw right now, by order of General Basque Grand the Iron Blood Alchemist."

Sakura summoned the most innocent and pathetic expression she could muster and said, "That man said he was going to skin the children I was babysitting I sent them running but he took out that wierd ring and transformed this whole field before his power backfired on him! What's going on here!? Why is this crazy guy so far away from a battlefield!?"

"Its true!" A voice shouted from behind her and she was surprised to se Ed, Al and Winry standing there, wit a slightly wavering voice Ed continued, "Sakura-san protected us from that wierdo. She made us run away."

"This is none of your concern kids, this low life defected from the Ishbal War and you will forget everything you saw about that ring, do you understand me?"

"Y-yes sir." Sakura said, while Innner Sakura raved about the general being 'generally' ugly and stupid. "I'll go back to town then. Will you be fixing this field to how it was?"

"That is none of your concern. Now scram." Sakura nodded and dashed slowly (for her anyway) up the hill, sighing in relief when she was out of ear and eyeshot. 'Oh great. Now how the hell am I supposed to get home?'

"Sakura! Sakura! You're okay!" Sakura looked up to see Al and Ed running up to her, Ed curiously looking just as relieved as Al. Al beamed up at her and said, "We'll tell mom what happned after we brought you here and how you saved us and I'm sure she'll want you to come home with us. Please won't you stay? We're sorry about the broken well..."

Sakura sighed before smileing sadly and kneeling down to their eye level, "You know what. I think I will stay with you tonight. You were very brave today, Ed. Protecting your Winry and Al like you did. You'd make a top-notch ninja if you lived in Konoha..."

Ed blushed at the confusing compliment and said, "I was just protecting the people important to me. Anyone could do that. Besides, I think you should show us those cool alchemy moves! I've never seen an transmutation circle explode before!"

Sakura just nodded thoughtfully pondering her next course of events. She could A. find a way back to Konoha by herself, while this strange world was in the middle of a war of sorts, B. stick around for a few weeks, learning about this would before following into A's footsteps, C. stay in this little town called Resembool and show these kids the way of a Konoha Ninja before leaving, after all, it wouldn't be safe for them to try to learn ninjutsu on their own.

After meeting Trisha Elric it wasn't hard for Sakura to pick option C. A genin team in Resembool would be created, even if it took her away from Konoha for years.

END CHAPTER ONE

I am so giddy about this! Sakura is my favorite character from Naruto and the thought of her teaching Ninjutsu to impressional youngsters like Winry and the Elrics makes me smile! Expect many changes to FMA world! This crossover is not going to follow a standard plotline!
*Note*: Thanks for the advice! I found what you said to be true so I tweaked this chapter a bit! Thanks for the help!
