Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ A REAL Dog of the Military ❯ Being the chapter in which we hear Envy's side of the story ( Chapter 2 )

Envy sat up, banging his head—hard—on the innersprings of Pride's couch. Somehow after last night he'd ended up in the meeting room…with, as he would soon discover, the word “SEME” written in permanent ink across his forehead.
He hoped that his chibi was alright.
When he'd been overcome with the heady feeling of utter control—when the young blonde had collapsed in his arms, his breathing ragged and his face flushed, his light, still-curvy bare shoulders still just as tempting as they had been at first, Envy had not wondered whether it was a good idea. The only thing on his mind had been the wonderful look on Elric's face, the wide golden eyes and the slightly open mouth. The only thing he was worried about were the words out of the young alchemist's mouth:
“But Envy—I thought—“ He'd placed a slightly moist finger to the boy's lips, shushing him.
“Koishii—uke—it's all right.” He'd silenced Elric further by kissing him gently on the lips. It was the first time Ed had refused to put words in Envy's mouth,(in case you missed it, Envy just called Ed a girl—twice.) and the first time—ever—that he'd kept his temper in check. When the boy had lay, trembling, in the bloody, wet sheets, tears in his eyes because he wasn't able to stand, Envy had relished picking him up, crushing the young boy against his chest and breathing in his scent. He had not worried. Had not flinched, had not looked ahead to see what might come of it. When he'd laid Ed by the side of the road, hearing the boy's pleas not to be left had nearly broken his heart—but still Envy had not considered Elric's change in behavior. He'd left, promising to return someday. He had not seen the bright purple lightning he remembered so well. He had not heard Edward's cries of agony, had not seen his fragile, naked body double over in pain or the expression on his face. Had Envy stayed he might have seen the effect that his “session” had had on Fullmetal—he might have seen he was wrong.

Ed was in a panic.
He was rushing around, trying desperately to figure out what was going on.
His body ached all over, as he ran in circles around the room. Finally he collapsed, exhausted, at Winry's feet.
“Poor thing,'' she cooed, stroking his head and sitting down beside him. “You're the weirdest golden retriever I've ever seen.” There was a knock on the door, just as Ed was getting a good buzz from having his ears scratched. He could hear a conversation in the next room:
“Hi!—Who are you?”
“I heard a familiar bark—by chance might you have a large golden retriever in there?”
“Yeah!—Is he yours?”
“Yes.”
