Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Afraid of the Dark ❯ Chapter 1
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
A/N: Today has been treating me like hell. I have been extremely depressed lately, so this fic is going to be pretty dark. I'm not sure if it'll be a one shot or not, I'll just have to see if I want to continue it at the end of this chapter. While writing this, I listened to the Witch Hunter Robin ending theme. Also, I wonder why I enjoy torturing Ed so much, but I just can't find the reason. Oh well, on with the fic.
Disclaimer: I do not own Fullmetal Alchemist or the rights to it. Though I do own all of your souls, mwahahaha…
Warnings: This fic contains adult themes, such as rape, depression, and just angst in general. Read if you dare.
“I'll be back for more later Ed kun, don't forget who owns you,” Envy whispered maliciously in Ed's ear. Licking some of the blood off of one of Edward's cheeks, he changed into the form of a raven, then glided away into the darkness of the night.
Ed fell back against the alley wall, slowly sliding into a puddle of scarlet liquid beneath him. His eyes stared blankly, he couldn't think straight. Oh god, it hurts so badly, why can't I just die? Sitting there, Ed still tried to comprehend what had just happened, as the pool of dark liquid slowly grew larger.
Cold drops of water began to fall on his face, as he closed his eyes. All Edward could think about was the burning sensation inside of him, and how he wished it would all just end right here. Darkness swallowed him up, as he willingly succumbed, almost gratefully. It poured down rain all night long, though not enough to wash away the blood covering the ground.
“Ugh, why does that colonel never do any of his work? I swear, today will probably be no different,” Riza said hopelessly. Mustang never gave her a break; she hated long walks to the office from her home. They always gave her to much time to think and dread the coming workday.
“Hmm, might as well cut through the alley, hope I'm not late,” Riza said, turning down a dark alleyway. The rain had not stopped all night, though it was Fall after all.
“What the hell?” Riza said, looking at her feet where the water surrounding her boots was dyed a deep red. Starting to panic, Riza ran up the alley, catching sight of a small figure huddled on the ground.
“Ah crap, better not be another murder,” Riza said to herself, worried and at the same time slightly annoyed. Turning over the blood soaked coat, Riza gasped as she caught sight of the symbol of the Elric brothers.
Riza searched her uniform in vain for change for a payphone. “Oh god, guess I've got no other choice,” she told herself, grabbing Ed, and slowly picking him up. Slowly, she began walking towards HQ, as it was closer than her house. Man, Ed weighs a ton for someone so small, Riza thought to herself, her chest heaving as she breathed in heavily, her arm's aching after the first five minuets or so of carrying him.
Finally making it to the central building, Riza carefully moved one of her arms away from Ed, grabbing one of the phones on the wall. Punching in the number of the phone at Mustang's office, Riza waited impatiently at the sound of the phone ringing.
“Hello, this is Colonel Mustang,” said a bored voice on the other side of the phone line. “Roy! I'm in the courtyard of the main building, come quick!” Riza yelled into the phone. “Riza? What's going on-“ Roy started, but was cut off by Riza. “There's no time, Roy, get over here now, Ed needs help!” she yelled, before hanging up the phone.
Riza sat down, Ed's head in her lap. She took the sleeve of her uniform, and used it to mop away the blood covering Ed's face. He looked so innocent, lying there as though in a deep sleep. Moments later, Roy came running.
“Riza, what the hell is going on?!” He yelled, running up to her, a hint of panic in his voice. All he saw was Riza clutching something, her uniform covered in blood. “Mustang! I was walking down an alley towards work, and I found Ed,” she said, tears gathering in her eyes.
Roy looked down, and saw Ed, lying there on her lap. Time seemed to stop for a moment, as he took in the picture. “Help me carry him to the doctors,” Mustang said a moment later, grabbing Edward's arms, as Riza grabbed his legs. They only had to walk a short distance, before Hughes noticed them, and came to help.
My chest, my neck, heck, everything hurts like hell! Where am I? Ed thought, his eyes flickering open. His vision was bleary for a minuet, but then became more clear. Closing his eyes, Ed tried to remember why he was here, what had happened.
Memories of the night before flashed before him, as pain ran through out his body. A ringing laughter was all he could hear, as he remembered Envy's words. Crying out in horror, Ed sat up in his hospital bed, his eyes wide. Sweat trickled down his neck, as he looked over to see Hawkeye, Mustang, and Hughes watching him.
“He's awake at last,” Roy muttered, staring at Ed. “How the hell did I get here?” Ed asked, after calming down. “Lt. Hawkeye found you on her way here, and boy are you lucky she did,” Hughes said, looking up from a picture of his daughter.
Ed looked over at Riza, concern etched in her delicate features. “Ed, what the hell happened to you?” Roy asked, cutting to the chase.

A/N I suck at writing. About the ending, I often write haiku's. This is one of the ones I made that I like, though I'm not very good at them. I'll continue this if I get reviews, or stay depressed for a while. Finished this at about 12:07 in the morning. I still feel depressed
