Chapter 1
*~The Meeting~*

It was a day just like any other day in Central. Edward and Alphonse were still searching for the Philosopher's Stone one way or another. The day seemed to be unnaturally perfect tough. Nothing had gone wrong, no reports of anything suspicious, and the military was getting more and more leads as to where Scar was. Butt, for some reason, Colonel Mustang had called Ed and Al to his office without explaining why.
"This is weird Al; Colonel Mustang doesn't call us to his office without a reason unless something bad is happening," Ed said as he strolled down the halls of the Central Military Station with his hands thrown carelessly around the back of his neck, his golden hair brushed behind his hands.
"Just because he called us out of the blue without a reason doesn't mean something is wrong, Ed. You always think so negatively. Maybe the Colonel just wants to say 'Hi' or something," Al said as he clanked down the hallway next to Ed. His footsteps echoed inside of his hollow armor as he walked.
"HA! Yea, right." Ed said as he suddenly stopped. He turned to his right and looked at two large double doors. He reached for the handle, but just before he touched it, it flew open.
"AH!" Ed yelled as he stumbled backwards.
Colonel Roy Mustang stood in front of them holding the door open.
"Why are you so surprised?" Roy said as he shook his head a little, "Come in." He said as he turned around and walked over to the side of his desk. He seemed to be alone, only Ed and Al were present in the room aside from himself. Ed and Al entered the room, the whole time Ed watched the Colonel.
"So why did you call us here?" Ed said as he flopped on to a nearby chair that rested next to the table in Roy's office.
The Colonel sighed and then averted his eyes from the window, to Ed.
"Well, I got a call today.." Roy began, but then paused.
"Aaaand?" Ed said as he shifted his feet from the ground on to a nearby chair.
"Let the Colonel speak Brother." Al said as he sat down in a chair parallel to the one Ed was sitting on.
"And, well, an old friend of mine is visiting." Roy continued as he turned around once again. He walked over to his desk and sat down in the chair behind the counter. He intertwined his fingers and rested his elbows on his desk; he then closed his eyes.
"And why is that bad?" Ws said as he sat up straight, not intrigued.
"I just want you guys to, please, try not to upset her."
"Why would we do that Colonel?" Al asked as he looked in the Colonel's direction.
“Well, I mean, just from Ed. You're not really the one to upset people Alphonse.” Roy said as he opened his eyes and untangled his hands; he sat back in his chair.
“WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!?!?!” Ed yelled as he jumped to his feet and slammed his hand on the table in front of the Colonel.
“Exactly what you just did, you get upset way too easily. Don't piss her off, she might..well..hurt you.” Roy said pausing a bit between words.
There was a long silence before Ed burst out laughing.
“Hurt! Me? AHAHAH!!” He said as he held his stomach, he backed himself back into his chair as he calmed himself down.
“I wouldn't take her lightly, but like I said : DON'T upset her, she goes overboard, like you Ed, and I don't need Central turning in to a battle field.” Roy explained as a train was heard stopping in the station nearby. Roy stooped up and walked to the right side of his desk, and then looked to the door.
“So when is she arriving here?” Al asked as he looked to the Colonel. He then noticed that Roy was staring at the door, and then also stared at it.
“Right about…”
“GET OUT OF MY WAAAAAAAAAAAYY!!!!!!!!!” A voice was heard from down the hall, it was a girl.
“..now.” Roy finished just as the doors to his office burst open.
“What the--?” Ed said as he watched a girl lunge at the Colonel.
“Roy~samaaaaa!!” A girl yelled as she swing her arms around the Colonel.
“Who the hell?” Ed said as he stood up.
After a few moments the girl let go of the Colonel and brushed herself off. She had long black hair that was pulled into pigtailed braids that fell in the front of her shoulder's. She wore a black jean jacket that had the same symbol on the back that looked exactly like the one Ed had on the back of his jacket, except in red. Under her jacket she wore a fitted white t-shirt and workout gloves on her hands (her right glove had the fingers cut out, but the left one didn't), she also wore torn jean shorts with frayed ends, and red nylons with black boots that came one quarter of the way up her shin. Her eyes were two different colors; her right eye was blue, and her left eye was brown, she stood about Ed's height if not a bit shorter; she also seemed to be of the same age as Ed.
“Hello, Reina.” Roy said as he laughed a bit from her enthusiastic entrance. He then turned to Edward and Alphonse; Ed looked at Reina as Al stood up.
“This is Edward Elric, and Alphonse Elric.” He explained.
“The ones you told me about?” Reina said as she stepped forward. She began to examine Ed from the front to the back as she walked around him.
“Might I ask what you're doing?” Ed said as he followed her movements with his eyes.
“Examining you.” She said playfully as she finally faced him and looked him in the eyes.
“Why?” He asked a little confused.
“So I can recognize you in a crowd. She said as she folded her hands behind her back, and smiled as she tilted her head.
Ed's shoulders jerked a little backward; he looked very confused.
Reina giggled at Edward's confusion.
“I just like to know exactly what people look like when I know I'm going to be close to them.” She said as she walked past Ed and walked over to Al. Ed loosened his shoulder's and twitched his eye; he was at ultimate confusion.
“And you're Alphonse?” Reina said as she stared up at Al.
Al nodded `yes' but said nothing. He seemed like he was paralyzed or something.
“I'm pretty sure I'll be able to pick you out in a crowd.” She said with a smile.
“Y-yea.” Al managed to say just before he tilted his head a little lower to look at the ground.
“I mean, it's not everyday you see an empty suit of armor.” She said with a serious face. Al twitched from shock at the same time that Ed jumped forward.
“How did you know that?!” Ed yelled, he then turned to Roy, “Colonel! Did you tell her?!”
Roy shook his head `no' as he kept the same face as if he was not fazed by Reina's discovery at all.
“Then how the hell does she know?!”
“It's very easy; as soon as I heard Al stand up I noticed there was only armor clanking, and no scratching of flesh like you would normally hear.” Reina said as she turned around and faced Ed.
“But if it'll make you feel better I won't tell anyone, I promise.”
There was a long pause while Ed just kept staring at her angrily.
“Ok, find, we'll shake on it. Then I'll have made a pact not to tell, would that secure your trust in me more?” Reina said as she extended her left hand. Ed met her hand with his left hand; when their hands touched Ed tightened his grip, but then gasped.
“You're arm it's—“ Ed began.
“—automail.” Reina said as she removed her jacket revealing her arm.
Ed smirked when he saw this, and then proceeded to remove his jacket too.
“It seems that your left arm is my right are.” He said as he stared at Reina. Everything was quiet for a moment as they both stared at each other, not blinking.
Finally, Reina spoke.
“Well I guess we'll tell each others stories when we get to know each other better. Until then I'll let you ponder. Maybe we'll find our cases are similar, then again..maybe not. “She said as she picked up her jacket and walked over to Roy.
“I'll find my way to my room. See ya later Roy.” Reina said as she pushed herself up by her toes and kissed Roy on the right cheek.
Reina put her jacket back on and then proceeded to walk out of the room, closing the doors behind her. As soon as the doors closed; Ed looked over to the Colonel and raised his right eyebrow.
“Just a friend, eh?” Ed said as he smirked.
“You're excused.” Roy said as he turned around and faced his window again.
“Whatever, bye!” Ed said as he turned around and waved his hand. Al followed him as they left the room; Al had been stiff since Reina discovered his secret. After they left Roy's lip began to quiver.
“Why..is she here?” Roy said to himself as he slammed his hand on his desk. A single tear flowed down his cheek.
“Hey, Ed.” Alphonse said as he walked along side Edward as they strolled down the halls of Central.
“Yea Al?” Ed said, he seemed to be walking more carelessly since they left the Colonel's office.
“What do you think the relationship between Colonel Mustang and Reina is?” Al asked.
Edward sighed when Alphonse said this.
“I knew that's what's been bothering you. Ever since we left the Colonel' office you've been acting weird.” Ed said as he sighed and then stopped walking, Al stopped too.
“Look, “Ed said as he turned around to face Al, “If it bothers you so much then why don't you just ask Reina?”
“But that's being nosey…”
Ed sighed again and shrugged his shoulders while nodding his head back and forth.
“You're still being nosey by asking me, and I don't even know the answer, nor do I ponder what it might be. So, just ask her, alright?” Ed said as he looked over Al's shoulder, something caught his eyes, “Aha! There she is no! Go ahead Al.”
Al turned around and saw Reina walking down the hall, he suddenly seemed to be in a little bit of a panic. He quickly turned around.
“But Ed--!..?” Al began, but found that Ed was gone.
Brother!...
“Hey Alphonse!” Reina said as she tapped on Al's hollow shoulder. Al quickly turned around, he seemed a little stiff.
“AH! Oh, R-reina-chan! Hello..ehe..”He said nervously. Reina tilted her head and twisted her lip a little.
“Is something bothering you Alphonse?” She asked.
“No-no! Why do you ask that? Ehe..” He said as he began to tap his hands on his sides; it was an effect of nervousness.
“Because you're standing unnaturally stiff and you're also stuttering,” She said as she laughed, “If there's something you want to ask me, just ask.” She continued; she spoke gently.
Al looked in to her eyes and suddenly became relaxed. His voice seemed not so nervous anymore.
“I was just wondering what your relationship with the Colonel is.” Al asked as he shifted his eyes to the floor in shame; now he felt really nosey.
A sudden rush of shock ran through Reina's body; her arms fell to her sides as her head bent down towards the ground; she had the same reaction as you would if you cut a dolls strings off. But, she didn't speak, there was only a long silence. Al, feeling the need to say something, picked up his head and took a step forward.
“Reina—“ He began.
“Later..”
“What?” Al asked as Reina lifted her head up.
“I'll tell you..later. When I get to know you more.” She said as she smiled, it was obvious it was a fake smile. She began to walk away, but stopped when her left shoulder met with Al's.
“But I can tell you…I love him..”She said; Al jumped a little.
“As a brother,” She said just before she continued on. Once again, Al relaxed again. He turned around and watched Reina walk down the hall. When she was out of sight; Al looked down at this hands for a moment.
Why..did that bother me?...
