The smell of chocolate chip cookies filled the air. Little Winry sat in a large wooden chair helping her Granny Pinako. Long tendrils of blonde hair escaped the ponytail hanging down Winry's back. Her tiny hands rolled the dough into spheres, and then handed them to the even smaller Edward. The boy's golden hair shimmered intensely from the light pouring in from the window above the sink. Ed placed the balls onto a metal cookie sheet that Granny Pinako placed into the hot oven.
"Don't you two make an adorable team? It is too bad that Alphonse has a cold." Granny Pinako shuffled around the kitchen pulling things out of cabinets and drawers, rinsing dishes, and placing items back into the cupboard.
"Won't Al be surprised when we bring him a plate of cookies?" Ed exclaimed enthusiastically, his miniature mouth widening into a big smile. Winry laughed beside him with glee. "And Mom will be happy too! I can't wait until we're all finished!" When Ed thought about his mother's happiness, his smile grew even larger.
"Granny, when will the cookies be done? I'm hungry, and I think Al will be too!" Winry's face turned into a little frown. The little girl hopped out of the chair she was occupying; her skirt fluffing up a bit as she rushed over to her Granny Pinako's side. Tugging slightly at her Granny's apron, she pouted and continued, "Granny...!"
"Just a few minutes dear, then they'll be all finished. You and Edward can eat a couple and take the rest to Al and Edward's mommy." Granny Pinako patted her granddaughter on the head and gave Winry two mixing blades with satisfaction. Winry's mouth developed into a beaming smile as she licked one blade. She giggled and walked over to Edward, who was playing with a toy train.
"Edward, I got a thingy for you." Edward's golden eyes widened as he turned from his train and saw the mixing blade full of yummy cookie dough. The two five year olds sat on the floor next to each other giggling as they licked their blades.
A while later, the two finished their treat and ran outside to play. When they came in, the chocolate chip cookies sat in a basket steaming with the tasty aroma. Winry squealed with delight and ran over to the cookies. "Granny Pinako...can we have some cookies now?" Ed pleaded helplessly as if he would starve. Pinako looked down on the youngsters with weakness, which was unusual for the woman, and she picked up two chocolate chip cookies and handed one to each child.
"Now you two behave and take these," Granny Pinako pointed to the basket of cookies, "to Alphonse. Okay you two?" Both nodded their small heads, golden and blonde hair shimmering as well as golden and cobalt eyes. The two wandered out of the house, each eating a cookie and holding the basket.

Trisha looked out the kitchen window to see her son and Winry skipping down the road. Seeing their happiness made Trisha smile as if she were a child trotting along side them. She walked to the front door as a breeze blew her light brown hair and lavender dress. “Momma?” Trisha spun around to see her youngest son out of bed and rubbing his eyes. “Momma, where’s Brother?” Golden eyes that nearly matched Edward’s peered up to Trisha’s face.
“Don’t worry honey, he’ll be home real soon.” With that the young woman led the honey-haired boy back to bed. “Be good and stay in bed. You need your strength to fight that cold okay?” Al nodded as Trisha gave him a tender kiss on the forehead.
“Mommy! I’m home and Winry and me got some cookies for Al!” Edward hopped onto Alphonse’s twin-sized bed along with Winry. “See Momma! We made’em all by ourselves! They’re good too! Try one!” Edward’s eagerness amsued Trisha as she took a warm cookie from the outstretched basket.
“Yummy! They’re really good! You two did a fabulous job. I’m so proud of you both.” The two grinned and hopped down from the bed, running to the kitchen. “Alphonse do you want a cookie?” Al nodded vigorously and sat up in the small bed taking the warm cookie, but waited to eat it when Edward and Winry returned with a large glass of milk.
The two climbed onto the bed again. “Milk!” the youngsters said in unison. Each child, including Trisha, took a turn dipping a cookie in the glass and nibbling on it. Each had a smile on and laughed.
