People believed that equivalent trade was a proper judgement. Not all people. Equivalent Trade is when you give and you get. It happens to equal the satisfaction of what you want and how you feel. But, equivalent trade is just a judgement... not a law that all people follow.

Edward ran toward his 'home' as he now called it. It was the only place left that he actually grew up in. Of course Al was following close behind as he whispered to himself, "she needed me, and I wasn't there for her. I failed once again. Just like for Nina... she died without someone, all i can be thankful for is the fact she is still alive."
Al suddenly punched his brother in admist of anger and stress, "Don't you ever blame yourself, brother! It all ends up in hate and we don't need anymore of that!!! I won't allow it! I WON'T!" Edward didn't even bother to look at him as he ran.
The home soon appeared against the dim lights and the low hills. Edward began to run faster toward the house as Pinako stood at the doorway with a worried look on her face. As soon as they reached the door, Pinako held out her hand blocking their way to the inside. Edward grew impatient, "What's your deal!?!? Let me in! Damnit! I need to see her! I 'have' to see her!"
Pinako didn't flinch a bit, "no. she doesnt need any noise right now. she needs to rest." Edward slapped her hand out of the way and ran inside.
"Ed... wait!" Al shouted to him.
Pinako chased after him, "NO! Get back here Edward! You can't see her like this!" A gasp was heard from Ed as he entered Winry's bedroom. Winry was in bad condition, her eye was bandaged, her breathing was heavy, her arm was loose and broken, and she had small wounds all over her body.
"Wha-What happened Pinako? All you said was that Winry had been hurt... but not like this..." Ed turned his gaze toward the old woman.
"I have no right to say. That is Winry's decision."
Ed clenched his fists, "Damn you! Why can't you just tell me! You're so damn resistent! Just tell me!"
Pinako shook her head in disagreement, "no." Ed fell to his knees next to Winry's bed. He looked up at her face, she was asleep.
Winry suddenly shrieked, "NO!!! GET AWAY!!! STOP IT!!!"
Edward jumped up and squeezed her hand, "It's alright Winry... we're here. It's okay." Sweat was dripping from Winry's forehead as she struggled to awaken. She clutched the bed sheets, nearly tearing them apart. Suddenly, she started thrashing wildly like she was being attacked. Ed quickly grabbed both of her arms, trying to make her settle down, but Winry was still very frightned and couldn't focus on reality.
"WINRY!" Ed shouted to her. Winry began to stop slowly as her arms relaxed more. Al didn't know what to do he just stood there watching, amazed at what had just happened.
Ed looked relieved and suspicious, he turned toward Pinako, "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?!? YOU KNOW AND YOU WON'T TELL ME! WHY IS SHE HAVING NIGHTMARES LIKE THAT!?!?!?"
Pinako shook her head again, "you're wrong, I don't know. She hasn't been awake since she's been in that condition. Luckily major Armstrong found her in Central and brought her back here."
"Major Armstrong? He's here?"
"Yes, in the kitchen."
"I want to talk to him. Al you stay here and watch over Winry."
Al was solemn for a minute, "okay." Pinako only sighed. As Ed made his way to the kitchen he saw Winry's jacket lying on the floor, it was covered in mudd and was ripped from the seams. He stopped and studied it, Winry's jacket... why does it look like that? Did someone... His thoughts were scrambled. Major Armstrong came from behind the kitchen's door, looking surprised to see Edward on the other side.
"What the hell happened, major?!?!"
"......I have no right to say."
"Damnit why the hell is everyone around here like that?!?!?"
"All I can say... is that we have the man in custody."
"Man? What man?"
"I'm not sure his name."
"I mean what did he do!?!?"
"I'll say it again... It's none of my buisness to tell." Edward grew impatient and ran back to Winry's room. Al was standing there just looking down at her, Pinako still at the door with a bitter look. Ed couldn't stand this kind of prescence. Winry slowly opened her eyes and a groan escaped her mouth.
Ed ran to her side once again and held her hand, "Winry! Are you okay?"
Winry slightly smiled, "Don't worry about me. I'm fine..."
Ed wasn't falling for it, "Winry... what happened to you?"
She looked the other way as tears began to form in her eyes, "no-nothing... I'm fine really... I just... fell." Ed understood she wasn't willing to tell the truth, she wasn't ready. She made another groan, "my eye...." Ed looked away, he could feel his own anger rise toward the man that did this to her. He was going to beat it out of the Major if Armstrong was going to resist again. Ed began to slowly walk out of the room.
"brother?" Al asked, "Where are you going?" Ed ignored him and left the room to find Major Armstrong back in the kitchen. "I'm going to ask this only once and I'm going to get an answer from you!" Ed began in a harsh tone, "Where are they keeping the man you mentioned earlier?"
Major Armstrong shook his head, "If you really need to know..."
"Just tell me!"
"In central, it's police station." Ed looked bitter now and began to walk outside. "Wait! Get back here!" The Major's protests were ignored as Ed ran to a nearby train station.
