Drowning

Roy clawed his way towards the surface of the water. It was cold, so cold! The chilled liquid seemed to seep through his skin, tearing deep into his flesh. His muscles cramped. He gasped desperately for air, but received only the liquid darkness permeating his lungs.

There was nothing he could do to save himself. A tiny, desperate flame such as himself truly was useless against so much violently ravenous water. Such water would ultimately prevail, and extinguish him forever.

Roy made one last desperate attempt for survival before the dark water doused the small inner fire of his soul.

Roy drifted down into the depths, wide-open eyes staring unseeingly at nothing.

I was having a bit of trouble breathing, so I guess I decided to write something that would reflect that. It's really short - I'm no good at the morbid details. So far as I'm concerned, you fall in water, said water gets into your lungs, you die. It's as simple as that. But that wouldn't make a very good story, now would it?

Please review. It's not hard to do. It takes no more than a minute of your time, and it's really discouraging when the stats say over 50 people read my story, and not one of them bothered to review. I mean, 50-something people can't all have had technical problems! Can they?
