Disclaimer: I do not own Full Metal Alchemist. No, really, I don't. I SWEAR TO GOD I DON'T!!

Roy Mustang, a.k.a. the Flame Alchemist was dreaming about the work of today magically disappearing, carried away by a short kid, cursing at everything/
“Colonel. Does Edward have a reason to be carrying the work, I told you to do?” A blonde woman in the military uniform walked in, not noticing the fleeing newbies who had heard about her.
“Yeah! He..uh… commented that I was…. a playboy!” Roy said randomly, trying to find an excuse that wouldn't have Riza Hawkeye killing him.
“Sir, with all due respect, you are a playboy. Kayla Stone, Angela Williams and ….Mariana Carpenter all have left seventeen messages, commenting on how `wonderful' their date were.” Riza pushed new work on his desk, along with said messages.
“Is that all Hawkeye?” Roy sighed as he noticed Riza still standing near him.
For some reason, Riza blushed and started to mumble something into her hand. This was strange. Riza, the Ice Queen of the Military, blushing?
Weird….
“No sir. May I take an early leave? I have a personal appointment set up today.” Riza said, looking at the ground.
“Huh, the Shadow Alchemist is going to be out too,” Roy said, referring to his biggest rival. The Shadow Alchemist or Cain Abel . Roy smirked. Yes! No one was going to bug him tonight! “Sure, have fun. Tell the secretary where you will be, if an emergency comes up.”
“Yes sir. Thank you.” Riza blushed again as she gave the secretary the information regarding her location. The secretary raised an eyebrow and Riza blushed again and walked out. Roy shrugged and went to get his work from Ed.
Havoc, Ed and Alphonse were talking animatedly in the hallway. Havoc started laughing as Roy closed in.
“He's an idiot for letting the girl he likes go on a date with his rival!”
“Heh, he's an idiot either way, but this makes it worse! She used to like him, right?”
“I think she's given up on him. I mean, he may like her, but does she have to wait until he's ready to marry and have kids?”
“Well, I think Cain and Riza look adorable together, better then her and Roy-” Ed was promptly shoved to the ground by a very angry Colonel,
“What, may I ask, are you talking about?” Oh dear, the `I'm so angry I'm being polite' voice.
“Er, a week ago, Cain asked Riza to go on a date with him. They're going tonight.” Havoc stuttered out.. Then he turned back into his usual perverted self. “She actually changed here, ya know. She was wearing this slinky blue dress. Real low cut. Her hair was down. She looked hot!”
Roy stomped out, and went home. Why the hell was he so mad? It wasn't as if he was dating Riza. It was just that, she was his subordinate. Going on a date with his rival. Going with her hair down. In a dress.
Roy shook his head furiously and stomped into his car, ignoring the funny looks everyone was sending. Ed suddenly flew into him, having been thrown by Havoc to stop him for a second.
“Full Metal, I am taking an early leave today, tell King Bradley I'm so sorry.” Roy started to move again, only to be pinned by Havoc.
“Look, Colonel, I'm sorry but Riza said you needed to get your work done.” Havoc flinched.
Roy towered over him, flames in his eyes. “Well, tell Lieutanant Hawkeye that if she wants work done so badly, she can not go on dates.”
Havoc rolled his eyes. “You go on a different date four times a week, so don't give me that bullshit, your jealous. Besides, Riza hasn't taken a early leave in two years. Let her go on a date.”
“May I remind you, the Shadow Alchemist and I are competing for the sam promotion?”
“So? Not like anything about that matters with Riza.”
“It's the principle of the matter! Dating your co-worker's rival is wrong!” Roy shouted, hoping that no one would see past his façade.
Havoc rolled his eyes. Figures this idiot was forgetting one little detail… actually it was a fact that ruined his entire lecture.
“You remember Mariana Carpenter? That brunette assistant for Brigadier General Stone?”
Roy smirked. Women was all that occupied Havoc's mind. “Yeah, I do. She and I went on a date last week.”
Havoc sighed. “Well, remember how Riza was looking for that job? Guess who spread the rumors that she was couldn't read? And guess who got the job, even though the rumors were unfounded ” Roy didn't answer. The Colonel's silence was more then enough.
The flame Alchemist marched into his office, feeling very guilty. Er…that might beat out an old childhood rivalry over alchemy that he and Cain had.
Perhaps he had missed his chance, that little annoying voice in his head chanted over and over again.
Too bad he couldn't light his head on fire… he might get hurt

Riza smiled to herself as she recounted the date in her head the next day. Cain had been an absolute gentleman, not bragging, not flirting with the other waitresses and commenting how long skirts flattered her legs.
In a two words; not Roy.
She had worn a long blue slinky dress and had let her hair down. Cain had given her a nice, not expensive but nice, silver necklace that she was wearing now.
Speaking of Cain… he was walking towards her now. Or rather Colonel Mustang's office.
Riza sighed. The Colonel had been kind of cold to her. Riza didn't enjoy lying to herself and knew that she still liked Roy.
But, when someone goes out with a bitch like Marianna, a girls got to know when to pick someone else.
“Hey, Riza. Did you enjoy dinner last night?” Cain was there, looking every inch the perfect gentleman. He didn't shove is work onto fifteen year olds. (Hint; he's kind of short) He didn't…. have Roy's charm either. Shit, was she still in love with Roy?!
Roy heard Cain's voice and started to growl in his office. No way. It was enough he let her go on a date with the bastard, but now this guy was asking for a second date.
“Oh… I'm busy for quite awhile. I've got too much work. But some other times perhaps..?”
“Ah, babysitting should give you overtime!” Cain gave a laugh, at some joke that Riza was dying to know.
“Eh? Full Metal is quite mature for a teenager. Too mature actually. It's like he never had a childhood.”
Cain laughed again. “Nah, not the kid. I'm talking about Mr. Flame. What's he doing now, sleeping?” Cain's voice became serious. “Actually, my last assistant quit a week ago. I was wondering; want to work with me?”
Riza was shocked. He did NOT just make fun of the Colonel! She took her gun out and shot at the floor, within three centimeters of his left foot.
“While I am working for Colonel Mustang, please keep a business-like tone. And, I'm afraid that for a while, I am quite booked and doubt that I will be able to clock you in.”
While Cain left, his head slumpt down, a certain Flame Alchemist was dancing a jig, oblivious to the fact that he still was talking to Ed.
Riza blushed and apologized to her co=workers who promptly pretended that they hadn't been eating popcorn and watching the show.
Being in the military didn't provide a lot of time for T.V. or plays. But. Colonel Mustang's office was nice and entertaining.
