Wondering the streets, in a world underneath it all
Nothing seems to be, nothing tastes as sweet as what I can't have
Like you and the way that you're twisting your hair, round your finger
Tonight I'm not afraid to tell you, what I feel about you.
His head was down, slightly overgrown ebony fringe obscuring his vision. For now, he wasn't all that focused on where he was going, nor where he would end up. His mind was plagued. Plagued by the thoughts of “her”. Roy simply couldn't get over his little addiction, his disease. The virus had him tight. Strangle hold. Every time he would walk past her, glance at her from behind his ever-growing stack of paper work, the muscles in his chest would tighten and he found himself struggling for breath. Butterflies in his stomach and hot under the collar. He wouldn't admit it to himself, but Roy Mustang, legendary flame alchemist was nervous, afraid and acting cowardly.

Every glance at her was almost painful. She was beautiful. Her blonde hair, which simply longed to be pulled from its clip, and cascade freely over shoulders. Sharp amber eyes that never missed a thing. Skin that looked so soft, and a body (masked mostly by clothing) but beautiful all the same.
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have and cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will, For you I will
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have
For you I will, For you I will
It was cool Wednesday afternoon the sun had begun its slow descent down, and Roy Mustang was at his desk. His dark eyes gazed longingly out the large window. He had neglected his paperwork yet again, but this time there was a reason. He had finally stopped running. His mind was set. He was going to do it tonight. He knew she'd stay by his side. Dedication. He hated himself for keeping her evening after evening in silence, when she could be doing more useful things with her time. She insisted that she had to stay, and make sure he finished it.
Slowly the door handle on the office turned, and instinctively head turned to watch the door. He looked in a rough state; the colonel had been loosing sleep. Loosing sleep over a girl. He was the “playboy” but secretly he had regrets about every woman he had been intimate with. He only wanted to share his body with one person. Her.
A uniformed woman entered the small office. His eyes softened, and his lips curved into a sultry smirk. “You haven't even started your work today have you?” she barked. He grinned widely before Roy replied to the almost rhetorical question. “I have signed a few things.” Riza rolled her amber eyes, before she sighed. “Signing “autographs” doesn't count you realize sir.” Roy smiled widely. They weren't really autographs to him, just more motivation to make Havoc jealous. He was full of regrets, but he still enjoyed keeping up his “stud” masquerade.
Forgive me if I st-stutter, from all of the clutter in my head
Cuz I could fall asleep in those eyes, like a water bed
Do I seem familiar, I've crossed you in hallways a thousand times,
No more camouflage I want to be exposed, and not be afraid to fall.
Minutes slipped by like sand in an hourglass. Riza had seated herself at her desk, a book held loosely in her right hand, but her attention mainly focused on her superior. It was silent and the only sounds were the occasional turning of a book page, the rustle of moving paper and the scratch of a pen working hurriedly. The light outside the large windows had ebbed away, and a blanket of stars spread across the inky sky. Roy lifted his gaze from the work he had started and was almost finished. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped. He shut his mouth, and looked won at his desk, pen barely grasped in fingertips.
He lets his gaze flick up again, and this time his catches her eyes. Their gazes lock. He almost sighs, but stops. Her eyes. He adores how compassionate they are, but how well Riza hides it. She's stony to most, cold and almost untouchable to men. Roy knows that underneath the woman married to her job, is a human that needs to be loved just like everyone else. He continues to stare into her eyes, lost in their depths before he tears his dark pupils away from her vividly colored ones.
“Riza, I'm sorry.” He says quietly. She cocks her head to the side, confused. “What for sir?” she replies. He stands up, and makes his way forward, before he allows himself to sit on the edge of her hard wood desk. He places his head in his hands and Roy lets his eyes travel back to his subordinate. “For keeping you here when you could have been doing other things.” Roy says, guilt almost dripping from the words. Then and there, he wants to shrink away.
“Don't be. I choose to stay here, as I choose to follow you and protect you. I ask for no thanks nor pity. I chose this on my own accord.“ It was something that she had rehearsed and fed herself so many times. He managed to smirk slightly. Riza always managed to set a smile back on his handsome features somehow.
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have, and cannon ball into the water
I'm gonna muster every ounce of confidence I have, for you I will
you always want what you can't have, But I've got to try
He stood back up, busying himself with smoothing the creases in his uniform. He walked slowly over to the switch on the wall and flicked it down, the lights flickering to life. Instantaneously the roomed was bathed in warm golden light. Shadows danced to life, and cast a dark path across Riza's face. Roy moved back to desk, before he sat and picked up his pen, going back to his paperwork. It was now or never for him. If he didn't make his move soon. He'd have no paper work left, and his reason to keep her at the office would slip through his grasp and another day he would have to wait.
His pen slowly scrawled signatures and initials here and there. He was growing bored, and with boredom, came his thoughts of rejection.
If I could dim the lights in the mall, and create a mood I would
Shout out your name so it echoes in every room
I would

Shout out your name so it echoes in every room
I would
He cleared his throat, before onyx eyes flitted across to Riza, who's interest had been caught by the book she grasped in her hand. “Hawkeye, can you read through this for me?” He asked, a smile playing on his lips. He had his plan, and he would make his move. It was just right, he guessed. `She'll lean over my shoulder…' but his musings were broken by the sounds of boots on the carpeted floor. “What do you want me to look at sir?” Riza asked, making her way behind her superior.
The colonel smirked when Riza hovered just behind him. He spun in his seat and gestured for her to lean down and read. “What do you want me to re..” she began before she was cut off, her lips caught in a kiss. Her eyes widened, and he smiled. He broke away, although he didn't really want to let his lips leave hers. He let his over-confident smirk work its way onto his face, before he seized her lips in yet another soft, yet so passionate kiss.
Riza's amber eyes slid shut, and she immersed herself in the moment. She had denied it for so long, she was more the mutually friends with Roy Mustang. She was his equal, the only one who at least understood him. They remained fixed, till the need for air surpassed them. They pulled away gasping, almost fond looks in their eyes. “I have to forget to do my paperwork more often.” Roy said cunningly. His dark eyes a-glitter.
That's what I'd do,
That's what I'd do
That's what I'd do
To get through to you
That's what I'd do,
That's what I'd do
That's what I'd do
To get through to you
