((Chapter 1))
The car careened sharply to the left and then to the right. Bullets bounced off the top.
"There not trying to kill us. Hawkeye is!" Havoc jerked back down, his fingers tying and then pushing something. He smiled as he got up on his knees in the back and took the handles and aimed. Bullets flew through the air at the car behind them.
They missed as Riza turned the wheel sharply.
Thankfully they were in a remote desert so no civilians would be hurt. This was yet another mission given to them. Terrorist.
And right now things weren't in there favor.
Roy had managed to find and take, on there cars. The thing was damn big, no doubt built for the tough road. It didn't have a top, other than the bars on either side crisscrosing at the top. Havoc and Heymans were in the back, Havoc was shooting a machine gun that he had connected to the back. Thank god for that thing. Heymans was sitting in the floor, trying to call some backup. Roy and Riza were in front and Roy was keeping the guns filled with ammo, firing when ever he could. He was all but useless with his alchemy because as fast as they were going, the wind would extinguish any flames he made. Riza was the one doing the driving.
She knew how to drive. They just kept shooting at them. That was part of the reason. One could say they were surrounded, one vehicle in front of them and one behind them, though at a good enough distance. Each rut in the road made the vehicle jerk and when she jerked the steering wheel that made it worse. Her knuckles were white from holding it. She couldn't even pass the one in front of them, yet.
"Take the wheel." Riza ordered Roy without even glancing in his direction. He glanced up just as she picked up a small gun, loading it quickly. "When I move, get into the seat." She pressed down harder on the gas, as far as it would go. The car actually jumped. Roy grabbed the wheel, waiting till bullets stopped racing past them and then moved to the side as Riza stood as far as she could go. The moment Riza took her foot off the gas Roy slammed his foot down on the peddle so the car didn't slow.
But Riza didn't move to the passenger seat. She only turned around, her knees under her. Her legs on the outside of Roys. She was all but straddling him.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Roy yelled over the wind, looking to the side of her so he could see the road.
She didn't answer him, just leaned up more. Her arms were right over his head as she aimed carefully. What she was aiming at she couldn't have aimed at in the passengers seat.
And if the situation hadn't been so dire at that very moment, Roy would have said that he liked the position he was in. What man wouldn't?
The car behind them swerved on the road, losing control for a moment as a shot rang out. From Rizas gun. The tire flew apart over the road, sparks flying everywhere. It careend back into the middle of the road, heading straight towards them again. But this time much harder to control, that much was obvious.
"Dammit!" Riza yelled. She'd take out the other tire then.
Havoc caught a glimpse of metal behind them. "Get down!" He yelled.
Bullets flew again. One rickioted off one of the bars on the side and shot cleanly through her shoulder and through the windshield. Roy felt her jerk slightly. "Are you alright?!" He yelled, seeing the small hole through the windshield, the edges circled in blood.
"I'm fine." She'd had worse. Riza took aim.
Roy saw something up ahead. Someone threw something into the air and it landed in the road. Roy jerked the car sharply to the left and Rizas shot went wild in the air, missing entirely. The car behind them went straight past them blew up, flames raising high as they ran over the grenade and Roy took that moment. He snapped his fingers and the flames, the blast intensified a thousand times, the other car was blown to bits, along with its insiders.
Roy grasped Riza around the waist as the sharp turn of there vehicle sent the car flipping. Havoc ducked into the floor, Heymans was bumped around with each roll until it finally rested.
Riza groaned and then still as she felt a hand touch her thigh. Her fist slammed into his jaw, since she had no idea where her gun was. The moment her fist connected she heard Roy groan. "Sorry Sir, I thought you were someone else." Was all she replied.
"Yea, I could tell." He muttered, bringing himself up to his elbows before he sat up completly.
Havoc was sitting with his elbows resting on his knees as he lit a cigarette. Muttering something under his breath that sounded like "We should get paid more for things like this." Heymans was beside him. They all had a few bloody cuts and bruises.
Riza glanced down. Her right shoulder and arm were covered in blood, soaking cleanly through her blue uniform top and her entire arm was numb. "Your not dead yet, so don't complain Havoc." She was so calm, her voice cool as ice, that it was hard to believe she was the one who was shot.
They all looked up as they heard footfalls in the dirt. They all tensed.
"You guys arrived a little late, don't you think?" Once again, Havoc couldn't keep his mouth shut because in every situation, it didn't matter what kind, he seemed to always find the sarcastic side of it.
Second Lt. Ross shrugged. "We came as fast as we could. You didn't call for backup until the last moment but..." She looked at the flames down the road. "...it seems you didn't need any backup in the first place."
"We did at the time." Roy muttered.
