When Roy Mustang had first heard news of the pregnancy, he had been dumbfounded.
HER!? A mother!? HIM!? A father!?
It was simply too bizarre a concept for his mind to grasp. So, for the next four months he happily spent his time in complete denial.
Riza was NOT pregnant. She was just gaining weight.
He would have been more than content to stay completely oblivious for the rest of his life.
But, Riza apparently didn’t feel the need to help him achieve that goal and after several months she finally decided to shove reality -aka maternity leave forms- in his face.
It was then that the news finally sunk in.
SHE was PREGANT! With HIS child!
Roy sat in a near state of panic as he glance over the forms, images of doom flashing through his head at the thought of a child with such an insane heritage.
He was seriously complicating suicide -or at least moving to a new country without telling anyone or providing a forwarding address- when a line of text on the paper caught his attention.
She was requesting a twelve month leave of absence. That meant a year long vacation from paper work for himself...
Suddenly, a baby didn’t sound that bad.
Grinning, he signed and initialed the papers as needed and demised Riza with a smile.
Once she was gone, he picked up a pen, fished out some paper, and proceeded to write two letters.
The first was a 'Congratulation' note addressed to Riza.
The second was a 'Thank You' note addressed to Fullmetal.
Note: For those who didn't pick it up... Ed's the father.
