Part 6- The forbidden door.
As Ed studied the book he became more amazed and more inspired.
His eyes widened with wonder as he turned the page and into a new body of literature.
“So? - Alchemy's a high science?” he asked himself going over his notes and what he had learned. “I think I'm getting it”
Ed herd footsteps heading to his room.
“Oh No! mom's coming!” he panicked “what's should I do?!” he waved his arms crazily
And acted quickly. He put the book back into his secret box.
He put the box under the bed and jumped onto it.
But the footsteps headed farther into the hall.
It's heading to the forbidden door…
he peeked out his door and saw winry standing in front of the forbidden door.
I don't understand if I can't go in front of it why does she?
Winry stared hard into the door her eyes filling with tears.
Why ed? Why did you leave me? Why didn't you care about my feelings? How come you never saw how much I cared? How come you never noticed? Why Edward? I'm not good enough, is that it?...you buttfucker!
Winry wiped her tears away. “Edward elric … you were my everything”
“Edward?... Elric?” who's that?
Ed had no idea who this Edward elric was, and why did his mother seem so sad when she spoke his name.
Ed poked his head out farther and headed to his mother.
“Mom? What's wrong?” he asked grasping her hand.
“Huh? Oh! Edward?” winry wiped away her tears quickly “nothing” she responded.
Ed glanced over at the door.
(Winry's p.o.v)
Ed? I hope you didn't hear me…
“mommy?.. what's behind-“
I quickly snapped and pulled him away.
“come on ed, don't worry about that door”
*Sighs* what am I gonna do if he heard me?... no just act like nothing has happened
“mommy why were you crying?” he asked me again.
“oh nothing I had something in my eye is all”
I didn't like lying to ed but what was I supposed to say “behind that door is your father's room”? no I wasn't.
But still, I wasn't going to treat Edward so good when he returned either.
(narrator's p.o.v)
Ed was very confused at this point, he had no idea why winry had to lie, he knew perfectly that she didn't have anything in her eye.
While winry changed into her work clothes ed played with den out in the yard.
“Haha! Den!” ed laughed as he ran from den. Den barked playfully as he chased ed around.
“no den that's cheating!” he laughed. Meanwhile winry was in her work shop fixing things as usual.
“Ugh! Why won't you fix?!” she yelled at a broken machine.
“hey mom can I help?!” asked ed as he returned with den.
Winry smiled “ok”.
“yeah!” ed cheered and sat on a stool in front of winry.
“ed can you go inside and get me my red screw driver?” she asked.
“ok!” ed raced inside.
He ran up the stairs and through the hall as he was stopped by the forbidden door.
He ignored it and went in winry's room. “where is it?!” he shouted. “hmm? Maybe it's in grandma's room!”
But it wasn't in there either. “ugh! Dumb screw driver!” he shouted. “maybe it's in… the forbidden door?” he said and turned to that mysterious room.
He walked slowly to it.
Maybe I shouldn't…I could get caught. but grandma's not home and mom's outside thinking I m looking for her screw driver. She won't know
So ed finally got the courage to open the door. He took a bite of fresh air and turned the knob.
Ed gasped as he saw what the room contained. “whoa!” he walked in and closed the door behind him.
His eyes were filled with amazement as he saw all the alchemy books and transmutation circles.
He took a step forward. Still to nervous to do anything.
“it's like a alchemy fun house” he said with widened eyes.
His curiosity got the better of him and he began to look around. He poked around the drawers and shelves looking at all the wonderful things he had been dying to see.
Ed began to climb a huge book shelf to get a huge alchemy book that read “SECOND STEP TO ALCHEMY”
“How come I had to be the shortest kid in the world?” ed said with sarcasm as he climbed the tall shelf.
“oh! Ahh!!” he shouted as he slipped off the shelf and a bunch of books landed on him.
“ow… at least I'm alive” he sighed then a folder fell on his head. “ow! Watta!”
He picked up the folder, “ a file folder?”
“THE FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST” he read, “EDWARD ELRIC”
Ed gasped and dropped the folder back on the floor and a picture came out the folder.
A picture of Edward Elric.
“who's this?” ed asked as he picked up the picture.
It might be my imagination but… I look like him
Ed turned the picture and there in fine print it said “EDWARD ELRIC THE FULLMEATL ALCHEMIST”
“so he's Edward elric?” ed asked himself. “wait… Edward Elric?”
Edward Elric… you were my everything…
He remembered winry's words.
This is the guy my mom was crying for
Ed looked around and on the drawers next to the bed was a picture of Edward and Winry.
Ed put the books and the folder back on the shelf and walked to the bed.
There on the night stand was a picture of Edward carrying winry in his arms “bridal style” he picked it up and studied it carefully.
“my mom knew him?” he asked. “they seem happy, but why is she crying now? Did he die? Did he leave?”
“ed!” he heard winry calling him.
“uh-oh!” he panicked and put the picture in his pocket and ran out the room.
Before winry caught him.
