Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Lonely ❯ Alone again? ( Chapter 11 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

This is my second FMA fic. There are a few warnings: Winry bashing, Al OOC, Ed OOC, and this will be an Ed/Roy pairing. This fic switches POV back and forth between Ed and Roy. Some chapters with have both POVs, some only one. I don't own FMA but this original story is mine.

There is also a color key.

Black: Author's notes and other people speaking.
Black with * means random noises.
Blue: Roy (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Red: Ed (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Now without further ado, here's the story. Enjoy!

Lonely

I was so stupid! Why did I believe that anyone truly loved or cared for me?! Love, friendship, joy—they don't exist for me in this world! I should've learned that when Al abandoned me! I trip over a wooden box in the street.

“OW!” I yelp. I get up and noticed that it was night. I also noticed that it was snowing, cold, and that I was near a small house. It was lit up inside and the door opened to reveal an old lady and a small boy. Both had blue eyes however, the lady had white hair while the kid had red.

“Grandma!” the little boy yelled, “There's a man outside.”

“I'm sorry for knocking the box over,” I say before I walk away from the house or was about to when the old lady yelled to me.

“Wait young man!” she yelled as she ran over to me, “Do you have somewhere to stay?”

I thought about it and said, “No ma'am but, it's no big deal. I'll be okay.” I sadly smile and start to walk away when I noticed that she didn't let go.

“Please,” she pleaded, “I insist you stay with us.”

I agree and enter the house. It was covered with pictures of, what I assume to be, friends and family. The fire was burning a bright yellow.

“Oh!” I realized, “I'm sorry! My name is Edward Elric.” I held out my hand to the old woman.

“That's alright dear,” she says as she takes my hand, “My name is Marie Thomas and this is my grandson, Jonathan.”

“Hi!” chirps Jonathan.

“Edward,” Marie asks me, “why were you alone and out in this horrid weather?”

I felt bad about telling the whole story but if I had lied, I would've felt worse.
“And just today,” I explain tearfully, “Roy screams at me! It seemed quite clear, at that moment that I had worn out my welcome so I left with just the clothes on my back.”

“That's sad,” said Jonathan, “Your friends and brother don't seem like very nice people at all.”

“They're just happy when I'm not there,” I said, sadly.

“Poor child,” says Marie, “It sounds like your friend, Roy, may've been angry at something else but, it doesn't give license to yell at you.”

“I shouldn't have asked if he wanted help when he told me to leave him alone,” I said.

Later that night, I heard Marie talking on the phone to someone. She let me stay in the second guest room and the bed is very soft. I fall asleep to the sound of her voice as I wonder about tomorrow.

TBC! What happens to Ed now? Wait and see! Please R&R!
