Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Lonely ❯ Horrible Realization ( Chapter 20 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
This is my second FMA fic. There are a few warnings: Winry bashing, Al OOC, Ed OOC, and this will be an Ed/Roy pairing. This fic switches POV back and forth between Ed and Roy. Some chapters with have both POVs, some only one. I don't own FMA but this original story is mine.
There is also a color key.
Black: Author's notes and other people speaking.
Black with * means random noises.
Blue: Roy (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Red: Ed (Both thoughts and speaking in and out of POV mode)
Green: Ed's captor (Speaking only, has no thoughts in the fic. Character WILL be in this color till revealed!)
Now without further ado, here's the story. Enjoy!
Lonely
We have to find Ed NOW! Where is he and who is that damn freak who would want to kill him? Christmas is in three days and I don't want to spend it putting an angel in a grave!
I heard Al sob uncontrollably and said, “This is all my fault! Ed! Oh God, forgive me for what happened to my brother!”
I saw his brown eyes stream with tears as he sobbed into his hands. I know that Al made some bad choices when he was with Rockbell but… Wait a minute!
“Al,” I said and he looked up, “When did Winry say she came back?”
“She called me *sniff* yesterday morning but she didn't come home till after lunch,” sniffled Al, “Why?”
“Hawkeye was in the house at the time and she said that Ed left that morning for some Christmas shopping,” I told him.
“Let's check the shopping district,” suggested Al.
We looked all over the district when Al called from a jewelry store, “We have a lead!”
I ran into the store and started talking to the shopkeeper. He told us that a young man who fit Ed's description perfectly was going to buy a ring when a young lady, whose face was covered, attacked Ed with a chloraphom-soaked rag, causing him to faint. Then she dragged him out of the store, via the back door. I understood that the elderly gentleman had a hard time running, due to a leg injury. His shop also had no phone because it was broken and could not be replaced until after the holidays.
“I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help him,” The shopkeeper sadly said.
“No need to be sorry,” I said, “Out of curiosity, though, what was the young man buying?”
The shopkeeper brought out a small box and opened it. It was a man's silver band with the words, `I love you,' engraved on it. This is probably the gift Ed was going to get me for Christmas.
“I've been saving it for him, in case he comes back,” the shopkeeper smiled sadly.
“Thank you,” I said as I started to leave when he said, “Wait!”
I turned around and he said, “If this helps, Further, the female kidnapper was looking at the wedding bands dreamily and seemed to be angry when your young man walked in.”
“Wedding bands,” Al and I asked together.
“Al,” I said in shock, “Are you thinking what I `m thinking?”
“NO!” Al shuddered, “That can't be right!”
TBC! Uh oh! Things are heating up! R&R! Happy Holidays!
