It was a cold day in Central and it hadn't stopped raining for days. Brigadier General Roy Mustang just received word that one of his Subordinates was returning from the field after years of research in Xing. She would receive the highest Honorary Award for finding a cure for a disease that plagued the entire Country. Her accomplishments would make her a Brigadier General now, for she was just a Colonel when she left. That was over five years ago. Roy looked up as a knock to his door resounded though his office dragging him out of his thoughts. He hoped it wasn't his gun-toting First Lieutenant because she would shoot him if she found out he wasn't working. He worked up the nerve to speak while he fiddled with the eye patch over his left eye.

“Come in,” He announced in the low sultry voice of his. He laced his fingers and closed his eye waiting for the bullets to start raining down on him, but the only thing he got was silence. He opened his eye to see a surprised young woman with long flowing red hair and amethyst violet eyes. She was wearing a military uniform and white gloves; that was odd to Roy because she never wore gloves. She smiled at him and saluted.

“Colonel Dr. Terri Stone reporting for duty sir.” He smiled at her and stood up. Walking around the front of his desk he raised his hand out and she walked forward to shake it.

“It's been a while Brigadier General,” Roy said as he released her hand and sat back on his desk.

“Sir with all do respect, the ceremony isn't till tomorrow, and I would like to make a request.” She said as she tucked her bangs back behind her ear. Roy smiled and crossed his arms. When she looked up at him he raised an eye brow.

“Oh, what would that be Doctor?” He asked her and she smiled.

“I would like to have a sparing match with you; I'm itching for a fight.” She grinned at him. He grinned back.

“I don't know if I can or not, but I have just the Alchemist for you,” He walked around his desk and opened the middle drawer. Picking out a folder, he walked back around the side of his desk and handed it to her.

“Major Edward Elric, the Fullmetal Alchemist?” She said as she opened the folder and read the Alchemist's name out loud.

“Hey isn't this that kid prodigy you kept telling me about in your letters?” she looked up as she asked him.

“Yes, he's 18 now, so he isn't a kid anymore.” Roy told her as he crossed his arms across his chest.

“Damn straight! It's about time you started treating me like an adult you bastard!” With all the commotion of Terri's and Roy's conversation, the tall blonde Alchemist they were just talking about walked through the door like he always did. He was wearing a military uniform now that his search for the stone had been completed and he went on less and less missions.

“Well you recently joined us adults when you grew to your stature, Fullmetal,” Roy teased the younger man.

“Don't get me started on my height General, I'm taller than you,” The blond said as he walked up to Roy and handed him a stack of papers.

“Only by an inch and what is this supposed to be?” Roy asked. He almost forgot that he had company already.

“That would be my Report smartass,”

“Fullmetal, this is Dr. Terri Stone, the Fullarmor Alchemist,” Roy introduced her to him. Edward retch out his hand to shake hers, his left because he still had the automail and didn't want to risk hurting her. She raised an eyebrow and shook his hand.

“Well the way it sounds you two are very close friends,” Terri laughed when that raised a huff out of both of them.

“Fullmetal is just my subordinate. hey where is Alphonse, I haven't seen him in a while,” Roy asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Ah, he's livin with Winery now, can't keep his hands off the poor girl,” Edward said as he reddened a little and scratched the back of his neck. His hair was now all the way down to the lower part of his back now, but instead of the childish braid, he had opted for a high pony tail.

“General, back to the subject please,” Terri said as she coughed once.

“Ah yes, Edward, Terri here likes to spar once and a while, would you like to become sparing buddies with her?” Roy asked out of character and Terri swiped him on the back of the head with her left hand.

“I need a sparing buddy so I guess I can, when do you want to meet up?” Edward asked.

“Well my Honor Ceremony is tomorrow, would you mind sparing with me right now?”

“Honor Ceremony?” Edward asked dumbfounded.

“Yes Fullmetal, Terri will soon be a Brigadier General,” Roy informed him.

“That means you out rank me, are you sure it's alright to spar with you? I won't hold back you know.” Edward told her. She smiled a smile that could have scared the ghost out of Major Armstrong.

“I won't hold back either, Edward,” She grinned at him.

“Where you want to go?” Edward asked her.

“There is an open field behind Headquarters, I'm sure you won't break anything but just be careful alright?” Roy told them more to Terri than to Edward because he knew how she got when she was fighting. Serious and deadly.

“Well you two have fun; I'm going to get back to work before Hawkeye turns me into Swiss cheese.” They all laughed when Roy said that. Terri and Edward saluted Roy and left the room.

“How long have you been a doctor?” Edward asked as they walked down the hallway.

“For about four years, why?” Terri answered him.

“Oh, nothing, I was also wondering, when did you become a State Alchemist?” Edward asked her.

“When I was 18, that was about five years ago,” Terri told him.

“When did you get Automail?” That question stopped Terri in her tracks.

“H-how did you know?” She looked at him with a mixture of pain and surprise. He raised his sleeve and showed her his arm.

“My left leg too, how did you get yours?” Edward asked her. She looked around to see if anyone was there then she looked Edward in the eyes.

“It was a car accident, took my right arm from the elbow down.” As she told him she looked away.

“I was 12, and I was riding with my father after the Christmas party at work. He…he wasn't as lucky as I was…” She told him as she looked to the ground. Edward looked to the ground also.

“I was 11 when I lost my arm and leg; I know what it feels like…” He told her, she looked up at him and felt the sorrow and pain waving off of him.

“Let's go spar, I think I might be getting rusty,” She said to lighten the mood and Edward looked up at her and smiled.

“Yeah,”

When they got to the area that Roy had been talking about and it had stopped raining about a half hour ago. Terri took off her Military coat and sat it in the door as not to get it wet. Her Automail shown in what little light came through the clouds and she looked to Edward with a grin.

“Let's get started,” She said as she lunged towards him and kicked him on the left side under the elbow.

“Hey that was cheep,” Edward said as he rubbed his sore back.

“Come on, don't quit on me now,” She said as she took a defensive stance. Edward growled then went on the offensive. She blocked each of his attacks with grace. Terri punched upwards trying to knock Edward back on his rear. He dodged it and did a back flip landing on his feet and scooting a few inches. Then he ran forward and punched with is Automail hand and Terri blocked it but scooted back a few inches from the impact. Not seeing the kick that came next, Terri was sent flying backwards and later rubbing her jaw. She quickly got up and resumed her fighting stance. Edward chuckled and suddenly attacked Terri, but she jumped and clapped her hands together. When she landed she touched the ground and the material started to form around her body. When the transmutation was complete Terri was covered in armor and was holding a sword.

“Can you top that Edward?” She said as she resumed her stance. Edward was still a little shocked at the transmutation until he saw the array on the palms of her gloves. He grinned and clapped his hands together and waved his hand over his Automail making a blade. Terri almost flinched because she knew he didn't have any transmutation circles.

“How about a little blade on blade?” Edward said as he lunged at her and she blocked with her sword. She kicked him back but he didn't fall. Instead he did another back flip and landed on his feet in a crouched position. He lunged forward and kicked her hard enough to send her flying backwards. She clapped her hands and transmuted the armor and sword back into the dirt in wince it came.

“You move just like a monkey,” She said as she stood up and dusted her uniform off. She looked over at Edward who was sitting back on his feet panting.

“You're not half bad yourself.” Edward said as he rubbed his lower back where tomorrow he would be sporting a new bruise.

“Let's call it a match and get something to eat, what do you say?” Terri said as she walked over to him and offered her hand.

“Sounds like a deal!” Edward said excitedly. Terri smiled and they walked to the mess hall. Just as they were about to sit down, a loud snap resounded through the room and both Terri and Edward flinched. They looked over to see a doubled-over in laughter Roy Mustang.

“Damn it Roy, you scared the shit out of me!” Terri shouted at the top of her lungs. Everyone in the Mess Hall stopped to look at her and Roy went quiet. She covered her head and blushed madly.

“Stop staring at me!” She shouted. Roy smirked and handed her a sheet of paper.

“Here is that form you requested,” Roy told her as he turned and left. She read the paper and noticed it wasn't a form at all; it was an invitation to his house. That's when Edward in all his curiosity noticed what it said and looked at her in surprise.

“Does that say what I think it says?” Edward asked a little flushed. Terri death glared him and he paled.

“Yes, and keep quiet about it too or I'll do worse to you than Hawkeye on a bad day…” She whispered in his ear. Edward could tell right then and there that Terri was someone he didn't want on her bad side. Terri's face lit up and she spaced out the rest of the meal.

“I wonder if he kept…” She said in a dreamy state. She couldn't wait for the work day to end.
