Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ Nothing is lost forever ❯ Chapter 2
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Here's chapter 2. Sorry it took too long. There's going to be a bit OOCness (out of characterness) But I guess it cant be helped because you cant really tell how Riza would react in a situation like this…or any of them really. But here it is, happy reading! Oh, and Basque Grand isn't dead yet in this too…thought I should forewarn you. And Greed isn't dead either. His death really upset me so I decided that whatever fan fic I do he doesn't die!
Havoc shook his head.
“No, they didn't. Hawkeye had been ordered to carry it out. That's why she was dishonorably discharged.” Roy stared at him. What?
But Mustang…you've been called back to the East. And they wont say why” Mustang was still reeling from the other comment.
“Called back? To the East?” His face went white. “They want me to do it!”
“I don't know sir. But Hawkeye would be glad for some help. The military was her life” Mustang thought for a few minutes. He had no idea what the hell to do. If he refused to go to the East without a legitimate reason - which he didn't have - then he would be in the same boat as Hawkeye and that wouldn't help her or Alphonse.
“You're coming with me Havoc”
“Sir?”
“Sir?”
“No argument, that is an order, do you understand?”
“Of course”
Roy sighed and stepped off the train. Havoc was slowly trailing behind him, his arm wrapped up and in a sling from heavy burns. Mustang hadn't been the greatest guy to travel with for 5 days. Roy sighed.
“I already said I was sorry. And I was aiming for the mug you were holding”
“Yeah I know” Havoc muttered. “You wanted to warm my coffee” Roy ignored him and looked around.
“I don't think I'll be about to spot Hawkeye Havoc” He highly doubted that he would recognize her out of military uniform.
“Why not sir? She's right over there” Havoc replied. Roy looked to where he was looking. And without a doubt, there was Riza. She was wearing a plain white t-shirt, light blue jeans and her hair was out and she was wearing an olden day type hat that almost covered her eyes. She was looking down. Roy stared at Havoc, amazed. How in the world had he spotted her? She was looking as un-Riza like as she ever had. Havoc blushed and turned to get their baggage. Roy decided to leave the interrogation until later as he walked towards her.
As soon as Hawkeye spotted him she saluted.
“Sir!” Roy felt uncomfortable.
“Uh…Hawkeye…” Riza looked at her hand and then dropped it.
“Right, sorry” she said softly.
“Got the bags. Are you doing okay Riza?”
“Oh, hi Havoc…I'm doing better…what happened to your arm?” she asked in a scary voice, staring at Roy. She went for her pocket to get her gun and Roy seriously wondered whether she still had it. But she came up empty. She stared at her hand for a few minutes, her face fallen and lost.
“Some crazy guy on the train cut it. Maybe we should head somewhere?” Havoc quickly cut in. Riza nodded.
“Good idea. Are you carrying all those bags by yourself Havoc?” Roy quickly got the hint and grabbed some. Riza smiled sadly and lead the way.
They dropped the baggage in the hallway of the apartment. It was Riza's apartment, the one that had been issued to her by the military. Roy gave her a questioning look.
“I have three weeks to vacate”
“Havoc, she's staying with you”
“Uh, sir?” they both said at the same time, staring at Mustang.
“Did you not hear me Havoc? That's an order. And don't argue with me on this one Riza. There won't be a penalty for kidnap considering your record now” Riza reached for her gun again but Havoc grabbed her wrist lightly.
“It's no big deal Riza. I have plenty of room” he told her quietly. Roy watched them curiously. He raised an eyebrow as Riza blushed.
“I need to go to headquarters. Stay here and look after her Havoc”
“Yes sir”
“Sir!” Riza objected.
“When was the last time you ate?” Riza was silent.
“Havoc”
“Ill take care of it boss”
“Well, it took you long enough to get here Flame Alchemist”
“My apologies General Grand Sir!” Roy answered, saluting Basque Grand whilst cursing him and his existence inside. Basque grinned, as if he knew what Roy was thinking.
“The mission that was to be assigned to you upon arrival has been post-poned for a week due to complications”
“May I ask what mission that was sir?”
“You'll be given a full detail in a few days. Until then you're on leave, understood?”
“Yes sir” Roy said, saluted again and turned and left.
He walked straight past the transport car, deciding that he needed some air. Basque Grand was one man who never failed to piss him off. He headed towards Riza's apartment, realizing that he should probably make sure Havoc was dealing okay.
“Would you shut up Greed?” Greed grinned and raised his hands, palm upwards.
“What?” he said innocently. “Just trying a bit of friendly conversation”
“Like you even know what that is,” Greed's companion retorted. His hair swung around as he took in his surroundings, fragments of it flying near his eyes, covering their expression.
“We should be close now”
“No objections here” Greed replied. The man by his side ignored him as he drew an alchemy circle on the distant floor. He pressed his hands to the outside of the circle. Blue electricity flew out in all directions as a strange mist appeared in the air. Greed grinned as he began walking through it.
“Hey wait! Be careful!” his companion yelled at him. Greed said nothing as his entire body turned black. He turned his head and grinned with his large white teeth.
“You're gonna be left behind” Greed's companion growled and muttered curses as he grabbed out a weapon and ran to follow Greed through the mist. As the mist became darker and less transparent the two figures slowly disappeared from sight.
They hit the ground heavily, getting instantly soaked as it was pouring rain where they had arrived. Greed's partner grunted and slowly sat up. Greed was already standing, back in his original form. The companion's hair flopped onto his face as he leaned down to push himself up. He quickly jumped up.
“What the hell!? You lost my hair band” Greed grinned at him.
“Awww come on, you don't look half bad”
“Watch your mouth!” Greeds grin widened as he looked around.
“Looks like Central” His partner stood next to him and peeked down the street.
“No, we're in the East” Greeds grin dropped as he considered it. “Did you even calculate the point of arrival at all?” Greeds companion asked angrily. Greeds grin came back as he shrugged.
“It was a guessing game really. All that matters is that we got here. We can travel wherever we need to go. That's what trains are for”
“Whatever” his partner muttered. Greed grinned and started walking, putting his hands in his pockets. His companion followed suit, automatically placing his hands in his pockets also. He hunched his back and tried to walk as fast as he could through the rain, ignoring his hair that was swaying back and forth on the sides of his face.
Mustang cursed his luck as the rain began pouring down. He looked up at the grey sky, wondering how he hadn't noticed it blacken. Sighing, he began walking faster, hoping to get back to his apartment as soon as possible.
Two figures, one quite tall and one quite small turned a corner and headed towards him. He could hardly see them at all from the distance. Deciding that he really didn't feel like company he went to turn a corner when something caught his eye…golden eyes of a specific type.
He stopped, stunned. Was he at the point of misery where he was hallucinating? The two figures got closer and closer and Mustang decided he must have died and gone to heaven, or he was dreaming. The two figures stopped and stared at Roy.
“Edward…?”
Cliffhanger again. I'm so good at them I just can't resist. I've decided that I'm not posting anymore of this on until I get at least two reviews. Come on, be nice? I know that this chapter, like every other chapter of every story I do is horribly short, but I truly can't help it…I just cant seem to get them any longer. If you prefer longer chapters tell me and I'll word extra hard at it…but it also means you'll have to wait longer for chapter updates. k?
Also, I would usually respond to all my reviewers but I think it's a little impersonal like that. But if you have any questions or want to talk to me I have two emails that you can contact me with.
