~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An adult Alphonse sat at the edge of the bed looking out the window at the night sky. The corner of the bed sheet covered hes waist as he thought back all those years when he had crossed the gate so he could continue to travle with Edward. There was a soft sturring behind him causeing Al to turn and look at the young woman sleeping behind him on the other side of the bed. she had curled into a ball on her side, as was her habit, and was hugging her pillow. Mostly because he wasnt there for her to cling onto, she was the oddest person he knew, but her loved her deeply. Al turned back to looking out the window and remebering the past
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FlashBack

It had been a little over a year since Al, Ed, and Noah had started their journies togeather. Al had studied the artifical limbs Hohenheim had made for Ed he left, as a result he could make them himself. this made Ed more reckless knowing that Al could make him new limbs just like Winry had done for him back home. Ed had even made the comment that if they hadnt been alcehmist back home Al would have made a great Automail technition. The group had had run in's with many faces they knew from their old home as well. Now they were travleing off to someplace yet unknown to them, they had gone to visit the other Alphonse grave.

"Brother!? What are you doing!?"

Alphonse yelled at Edward while the later was swirving around on the road laughing with Noah.

"Ed! Please keep your eyes on the road!"

Alphonse begged his brother. This got the older blonds attention and looked at the road again. Noah turned and smiled at Al, who sat in the back. she said,

"Im sorry Alphonse. I should leave him be while driveing shouldnt I?"

Al replied,

"I dont mind you two talking so much as him not paying attention to where he was going. He is always so reckless."

Ed put in his two bits

"I am not reckless!"

He turned in his seat to glare at Al. Causeing the younger Elric to exclaim

"Eyes on the road please!"

They went on like that until comeing into the next town. Al was the first from the car glad to have stoped, sometimes Eds' driveing make him feel ill, with all the swirving. Noah, got out also and went toward the Inn saying,

"I will book us rooms for the night until we deside what we plan to do next."

Al nodded and Ed said,

"Alright, I'm going to go look around a little bit see what there is to see."

After a moment the brothers moved off into the town to look around. Al went off away from Ed and was looking into shop and at stalls of goods as he passed them. It wasnt always easy to find the things he needed to make Al his limbs.As he walked around he saw a cat running off into an alley with a bit of fish. Al followed it only to see the cats tail go around a corner and to see what he thought was a wooden wheel. But as soon as he saw it it was gone so he figured it to be his imagination.

Al was ready to leave the ally when he heard a stiffled cry and a small crash deeper in the ally. Unable to resister Al went further into the ally. he peeked his head around the corner he had seen, or thought he had seen, the wooden wheel go around. There, on the ground in a slightly crumbled heap was a yound woman. she had sholder length, fiery red hair, and when she looked up at him he saw, the most beautiful green eyes.

"Are you alright?"

Al asked her in a soft voice. When she glared at him and waved at where her legs should have been he looked away from her face.

"What do you think buddy?"

Just below the girls knees her legs stopped. Al couldnt tell how bad they looked because she had on long pants with the extra cloth folded and pinned. Al frowned wondering why she didnt have some sort of artifical limb, but befor he could ask she had worked her way back into the chair. Thats when he notice why she had fallen in the first place. One of the wooden wheels had gotten caught on a grate. As she tried to get the chair to move forward he came and moved it out of the grate.

"What do you want? Leave me alone I can help myself. I dont need your help."

The young redheaded woman was all but radiateing with hate. she seemed so bitter but Al could didnt know why she was mad at him, he had just been trying to help afterall.He answered her question truthfully,

"I just want to help you. I heard you fall and came to see what had happened. Thats all."

"well like i said i dont want your help so leave me alone."

With that the girl left Al standing there in the ally alone. He tried to shrug it off, and leave the ally but he felt like he was leaveing something undone and he didnt like it much. A week had passed and the trio had desided to stay in the village for a while. All three of them got odd jobs around the village. Noah worked for a flower shop, Ed, thought he was best with mechanics, helped the butcher. Al was in the blacksmiths. He didnt make anything but helped to keep the shop clean and kept everything orgainized. He also watched the mastersmith as he made different tools, and learned how to do the same. Al was doing something for the blacksmith when he heard a commotion. Al went to see what all the commotion was about and found none other than the redhead being roughly handled by one of the market owners. He was yelling something about her stealing from him, but Al didnt hear it, instead he went to her aid.

The man was at least twice Als' size but he pried the mans hands from the redheads and threw him. Yes threw the man, just because he wasnt a suit of armor anylonger didnt mean he had forgotten how to fight. He stood stait again and said to the man you now lay on the ground more confused than anything,

"Where I come from, grown men do not treat young ladies in such a way. You should be ashamed you know."

With that he turned on his heel to face the redhead and said

"Lets go."

He moved behind the slightly shocked woman and started wheeling her away from the cluster of people. the group was in shock as well. They had never seen what Al just did, throwing a man twice his size was unheard of. When Al and the woman had cleared the group he asked softly,

"You okay?"

She remained quiet for a long time befor replying,

"You shouldnt have done that. That man is one mean bugger."

Al shrugged and stopped at the blacksmiths.

"I can take care of myself, besides, you shouldnt be treated that way."

The young woman blushed a little. Al went into the blacksmiths and told his boss that he had finished doing as he was told and that he was going to call it a day. He returned outside and was almost supprised to see that she was still there. He didnt show it but instead smiled and started wheeling her toward the Inn he, Ed and Noah were staying at. But as they grew closer she said,

"Whoo wait a second. Were are you takeing me?"

She tried to stop him from moveing forward but it was no use. Al replied

"Im taking you to the inn, my brother and our friend are staying at. No offense ment but you could use a little bit of a wash up and a good meal. Borther doesnt look it but he can actually cook pretty well. What is your name by the way? Im Alphonse Elric, but you can call me Al."

". . .Rae West. . ."

Rae didnt put up a fight anymore and al took her to the joined rooms they shared. He set her up in the bathroom and got her a dress that he had planned on giving to Noah, but he felt the girl needed it more. while she was in the bathroom washing up al worked with two legs ment for edward. He made a few changes and had them ready when she came out of the bathroom. Her hair was still damp, her face and hands clean, the dress brought out the green in her eyes. Though still with a wounded look, al thought she was beautiful. He smiled and told her so causeing her to blush. then al explained,

"My brother has one arm and one leg. He lost the others a long time ago in an accident. But he didnt let that stop him and with these limbs our father made he is perfectly funtional. I think you can be the same."

As if planned Ed and Noah came into the room laughing. Al introduced them and asked Ed to show off his skills. Ed did, he did flips and cartwheels, showing off. Al then asked him to pull up his pant leg and to take off his shirt to show Rae the limbs. she was fasinated by them but then looked at her lap and explained

"Even if you could do that for me i dont have any money to pay you with. thank you so much for your help today, but i must go now."

Al was fast to his feet

"You dont have to pay me Rae. I want to help you so please let me?"

He could see tears in her eyes. It was as if she wasnt used to people trying to help her and he guessed that she wasnt. Noah and Edward were quiet and waiting. al asked again,

"Please?"

Rae thought for a long time the group quiet while she thought it over then finally she nodded.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That evening Edward and Alphonse worked togeather to prepare Rae for the limbs. Noah sat waiting in the joined room. It wasnt until a week later that Rae was seen again on the streets of the village, and she was very much a new person. she stood tall and proud. she no longer had the look of a half starved wounded animal. Walking side by side with Al they were happy togeather. Al had fallen in love with her the moment he saw her, he just didnt know it. Rae had fallen in love with al when she saw him throw a man to protect her. The trio became a group and they travled togeather. when they found a place they could all find work that would last they settled down. Ed and Al peruchased two small houses near eachother. Noah and Ed got married and soon there after so did Rae and Al. As time passed their houses became homes and grew. As she grew older Raes hair darkened to an auburn and she let it grow long. Ed and Al found that even thought they were not of the world they now called it home and rearly thought back to those they missed. The gaps in their hearts were filled by their loveing wives and children.
