Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ The Apprentice ❯ Prologue ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
This is my first FMA fic so don’t kill me if it’s bad.
Ed could hear the empty suit of armor behind him and winced. Every time he heard the loud, hollow footsteps of his younger brother’s soul it cause his heart to ache. Don’t worry Al, I’ll get your body back, Edward thought, determined. He would find the Philosophers stone and get their original bodies back, no matter what.
“Hey Al, I wonder where Hughes is. You would think he would be attacking us with pictures by now,” Ed said, chuckling in memory of his friend, Mayes Hughes.
“Yeah, I wonder where he is too, brother,” Alphonse Elric replied, the metal helmet turned to look around the room as if to find Hughes coming at them with photos of his daughter, Elisya (sp?).
“It’s about time you got here FullMetal,” A new voice spat at the two Elric brothers. Ed and Al turned to look at the handsome man behind them, the Flame Alchemist, Roy Mustang. Ed glared and was about to retort before Mustang cut him off.
“Never mind, I have you here for a reason. We have a new state alchemist who is as young as you were when you became one. We would like her to be your apprentice,” Roy stated calmly.
“WHAT!? You can’t do that!! You know how dangerous the stuff we do is! It’s not safe and I don’t want to deal with someone else!” Edward screeched.
“What do you mean by ‘her’? It’s a girl?” Alphonse asked calmly.
“Of course she’s a girl, that’s why I said ‘her’,” Mustang stated.
“I’m sorry, it’s just we’ve never really come across a girl in the military that was a State Alchemist or even used alchemy,” Al answered. Ed had stopped screaming by now and started to listen.
“Okay, so who is she?” Ed asked curiously now that his rant had ceased.
“Okay, her name is Amy Whales. She’s twelve years old and you’ll meet her right about now,” Mustang said and right on cue the door to his office opened at a young girl walked in.
Amy had long, curly black hair that was placed in a neat ponytail on the top of her head and shining sea green eyes. She was wearing the state alchemist uniform except in black and it had short sleeves.
“Hi, I’m Amy Whales,” She smiled at them and then looked at Edward, “Wow your short for a sixteen year old.”
“What?! I'm Short! I'm a pipsqueak?! A little person?! A shrimp?! How dare you call me that?!” Ed screeched angrily.
“But I didn’t say any of that!” Amy replied as she placed her hands over her ears to sheild them from Ed's intense screaming.
Alphonse and Mustang just sweat dropped at the scene unfolding between Amy and Edward.
It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and a new adventure.
