Edward was mad as hell, and it was all that damn Mustang's fault, both of them, Roy for giving him this stupid assignment and the girl for just being a Mustang. He sighed; this was no way to start out a new investigation. That reminded him, “Hey, Breeze or what ever your name is.”
She turned around. “What?”
“We were also given a new assignment besides babysitting you.”
“Your point?”
Keep your cool, Ed. “It means that you have to come with us while we chase down leads.”
The girl looked first mad then, probably realizing that she was not going to get him to change his stance on the subject, pouty then mad again. She turned around and just said, “I don't want to go on your stupid investigation, unless…”
Ed narrowed his eyes. What was the little disrespectful runt up to? “Unless what?”
She smiled and held up her index finger like a one, “Unless you tell me what it is you're investigating.”
“We can't. It's classified.”
She made a sad face, “Then I guess I'll just tell my uncle that you're not keeping me happy.”
Ed lunged at her. “WHY YOU!”
Al grabbed him and held him by his arms.
“Wait, Brother, Wait! I have an idea.”
Ed calmed down. Breeze looked at the younger Elric. He's acting more like the older brother.
“Why don't you go and look up the lead, and I'll take Miss Mustang where ever she wants to go and do what ever she wants to do. Sound good?”
Edward looked at his younger brother. He didn't like the idea of leaving Al with the little witch, but he saw the sensibility in the plan. “Okay.”
The Elrics looked at Breeze. That devilish grin came on her face again. “Sounds good, but I wonder…”
Al looked at her, “You wonder what?”
“If a person dressed in so much metal can keep up with me.” And with that she took off down the street.
Al ran after her, shouting, “See you later, Brother! Hey, wait up.”
Ed shook his head and headed back the way he came. I hope Al knows what he's doing.
Breeze ran through the streets, dodging people and objects. She could hear the younger Elric brother running behind her. You could hear him a mile away. That armor is no good when sneaking up on people. She turned around to see that Alphonse was gaining. “Not too bad, Elric. You're faster than you look. But I wonder how well you run on rooftops.”
Alphonse watched as she bent her knees and jumped on to the nearest roof. She landed like a cat and ran along the roof.
Bri looked down at the metal boy. Let's see you get up here now. She took off, running along the rooftops and zigzagging until she could no longer see the alchemist anymore.
She layed down to take a rest. He wasn't much fun. I wonder if the Shrimp can keep up with me?
“There you are!”
Bri sat up. There on a ladder was Alphonse Elric.
“I thought that was your bag sticking over the edge.” Damn bag.
She shrugged, “You're very observant.” She reached into her pocket and slowly brought out a piece of chalk. “But not observant enough.”
She quickly drew a circle on the house and placed her hand on it with that same smart alick grin on her face. There was a flash of light and the part of the side of the house jutted out, knocking the ladder of balance.
Alphonse watched as Breeze disappeared behind the roof. He landed with a thud.
“I hope that armor protected you.”
“Two can play this game.” He started to draw a circle.
Bri looked over the edge at the fallen alchemist. What was he up to?
With a bright flash, the ladder was whole again. Alphonse tried to make it look like he was hurrying to get up, but it was a trick.
And she fell for it.
Bri jumped off the roof top and on to the crowded street. Alphonse reached out and caught her right arm.
She turned around and kicked him. Al let her go.
Breeze ran through the streets. Only one thought was coming to mind: He's good.
