[A/N: Hi all, this is a one-shot I done a couple of weeks ago, but was too afraid to post it up. But now getting over my fears, I decided to post it today. Note that I call this a one-shot, because it is a bit of unordinary pairing EdwardxSheska. But I always like to experiment on different things. Also something else to take in consideration is a lot of things will be made up from my imagination. It doesn't really follow off from any of the episodes. Got it? Hopefully so. But overall, I hope you guys enjoy it.

And forgive me for errors and tenses mistakes, I'm not a really super good novelist, but I try to get better along the way.]

Once upon a time in Central there lived a brown haired girl with glasses, named Sheska. She was 16 years old & lived with her mom, who was in terrible shape from some kind of sickness. Considering she did not have a father, Sheska had to look for a job to take care of her mother, who she promised that she would, and Sheska was always the type to keep her word. She was now going through a pile of books that she would soon have to place on a bookshelf. She has been working in Central Library for about a week now, so she was still getting pretty use to the organization around the place.

"Hmm...This book must go here...I hope." Sheska said, to herself in a whisper.

Suddenly a dark skinned woman with black hair comes up to her; she looked like she could go for the head-boss of the place.

"Sheska is everything going good over here?" The woman asked.

"Oh, I'm fine. Just trying to put all these books in order." Sheska said, giving off a nervous giggle.

"Right. Well don't stay back here too long. I need you to head up to the front."

Sheska knew what the front spot was, it was the checkout line. Moreover, what was even worst the brown haired girl had never been up there before, really dealing with people (which meant customers). She enjoyed being in the back stocking up books, it always lead her to have more time to herself, but it seems that was not going to happen.

"You mean the checkout area right?" Sheska question, which she already knew the answer to that.

"Yes. In fact, why don't you go up there now? I can have someone else handle this for you." The woman suggested.

Sheska started to hesitate, she didn't want to head to that front with all those people nagging her too death. She rather stay in the back, however she knew arguing with her boss wasn't going to help her out in any kind of way.

"Oh okay." Sheska said, in a dull tone.

The young girl then starts to walk off a little sadly to the front...Until her boss voice stops her in her tracks.

"Sheska, I know it’s a bit hard for the first time in the job. But don't worry, you will get the hang of it. I do this with many of my new workers. I want you to be able to get use to the surroundings around here as well."

Sheska nodded her head, perfectly understanding the reason. Anything could happen and someone could not show up for his or her position. So they will need as much help they can get.

"I understand." Sheska said, giving off a smile.

Once she did, the sound of a bell ringing from the front desk was heard loud and clear in their ears.

"Seems like some visitor needs assisting." The woman said, with a smile

"I'm on it." Sheska said, now with confidence written on her face.

Quickly the brown haired girl makes her way up to the front desk. She then sees a rather short blonde haired boy with a red jacket and some sort of black outfit underneath it. Sheska wasn't too familiar with his style and he didn't look nothing like a State Alchemist, which only state alchemists were allowed in that library.

"I'm sorry sir, but only state alchemists are allowed in this library..."

The blonde haired boy then frowns at the girl, obviously not pleased with her greeting.

"Yeah...Well I'm quite aware of that. How do you think I got in here?" The boy said, with a slight attitude.

"I don't know how you got in here. But the rule still remains you have to be a state alchemist."

A frustrated sigh then comes out of the boy's lips he was obviously getting irritated. But Sheska didn't care, it was her job to make sure she assist only state alchemists.

"Dammit. Do I have to show my freaking badge even in the place!” The boy mumbled off, then revealed this pocket watch that had 'King Bradley' symbol carved on it.

Sheska saw it and a big 'O' appeared on her face. He really was a State Alchemist, that pocket watch proves everything. Sheska cursed herself for not knowing that, it already looked bad on her first time being in the checkout area.

"Oh I'm so sorry sir. I thought--"

"No need for that. I don't have time, I'm in a bit of a hurry." The boy interjected.

"Well what can I do for you?" Sheska asked, trying to keep her polite manner. This boy was sure irking a nerve...

"Okay here's the deal. I need some information on a guy named Dr. Marcoh..."

Sheska eyes widen a little, when the boy stated that to her. She remembered reading up on something with Dr. Marcoh not too long ago.

"Dr. Marcoh?"

"Yeah, I really need some information on his research..." The boy said, getting more curious by the min.

The brown haired girl, just stayed still for a moment. Trying to register where the last place she put those files at on Dr. Marcoh. But then again, those files were under the jurisdiction of King Bradley's secretary.

"I'm sorry sir. But I believe you have to have permission from the Fuhrer's secretary Ms. Juliet Douglas in order to see them..."

"What? Damn!" The boy said, cursing in frustration.

Sheska could see from his demeanor that he must be urgently seeking for something in Dr. Marcoh's research. The question is, what exactly?

"I'm very sorry sir...I wish I could be more of a assis--"

"Well could you just show me a little of what information is in there? Please! I really need to see it..." The boy said, desperately; cutting once again Sheska sentence short.

"But sir--"

"Please!" The boy said, in an even more begging manner.

Sheska could see around, that this was causing other people to look in their direction. Which most of them were darting their eyes at Sheska, thinking she was the one giving the boy such a hard time. But what could she do? This young man was not allowed to see these files without permission. And she knew she would sure as hell get in trouble if she showed it to him without any regards. However, this boy was looking at her with these interesting golden eyes begging for mercy.

"Listen, I will only show you what I can show you...It may not even be much. But it's better then nothing..." Sheska said, lowering her voice so the boss or any employee around wouldn't hear her.

The boy's expression then immediately turns into a relieve smile. Obviously, he was happy to hear that she was willing to help him.

"Yeah...anything will do." The boy said.

Sheska lets out sigh, then grabs a few pens and a book, letting the other people around believe that she was leading the boy into a regular area. But in reality, she was leading him into top-secret file area of the library.

"Well follow me sir..." Sheska stated, while starting to walk forward.

"Eh about this 'sir' stuff, you can just call me Ed okay?" The boy stated, while following behind her.

"Okay...Ed." Sheska said, giving off a light smile.

As they continued to walk down to their destination. Sheska was a bit curious as to why this boy was so interested in reading Dr. Marcoh's research and she wanted to question him about it.

"Excuse me, I hope you don't think of me as getting in your business. But what is it you’re trying to get or better yet gain by looking at his research?"

The blond-haired boy eyes widen a little as he heard that statement, then he quickly lets out a sigh. Sheska could see his expression (from a glance view) at how it suddenly changed.

"Uh actually...Nothing, no apparent reason at all. I'm just very interested in his research. " Ed said, sounding a bit hesitant.

Sheska did not believe that one bit. There is no way this guy could just be reading Dr. Marcoh's research for just some rainy day. The doctor had so much vital information stored in it...That it could it take days--no months to read!

"Oh well, I guess I'm just a bit a curious. Sorry for asking..."

The boy named Ed didn't say anything, his mind seemed to be now on another matter. Sheska notice now with the boy being by her side, that he was much shorter then she thought.

"Gee, this boy looks like he's only about 11 and reading something that is in adult level standards..." Sheska said, in her mind also giving off a giggle at the thought.

Ed had seemed to catch that giggle, and looked in her direction, wondering what the deal was.

"What's so funny?" Ed asked.

"Oh nothing. Hehe...Sorry." Sheska said, apologizing and shrugging it off.

The blond haired boy only stared with a confused expression. Was there something he was not getting? His thoughts were soon swooshed away when he seen Sheska approach this black door with a title engraved on it stating...'RESTRICTED! Top Research Files & Information'.

"Well here we are..." Sheska said, while pulling out this key, that she put into the doorknob unlocking it. "Luckily they gave me a key for this area."

She opens the door, leading her and Ed into the room. Once inside, the boy named Ed noticed the area looked like a whole another library. There were shelves of books and rows of boxes all over the place. The only thing the room lacked, was space. It was much smaller...

"So this is where they hold all alchemist top military files?" Ed said, while looking around amazed in the area.

"Well most of them or so I've heard. I haven't been working in here long enough to know that quite yet...Hehe." Sheska said, chuckling a little.

"Oh." Ed responded, not really paying attention to what she just said, instead he was still gazing around. While he was, Sheska started to move to the back of the room, until she got to where she needed to be.

"Hmm...Let’s see Dr. Marcoh...Dr. Marcoh..." Sheska mumbled, while looking carefully through a row of boxes and books. "Ah! Here it is."

The brown haired girl then slides out this pretty big box onto the floor, with a little weight on it too. Quickly she darts her eyes over to Ed, who was still looking around.

"Hey, could you give me a hand over here?" Sheska said, in slight sarcastic tone.

Ed hears the girl and looks in her direction, noticing that she did need a little bit of a help.

"Oh...Hang on." Ed said, while making his way over to her.

They both then start to carry the box to this nearby table in the room. Once the heavy box was placed on the table, the boy named Ed then opens the box lid, pulling out this single blue book.

"So his actual research is in this book?" Ed questioned, while keeping his eyes on the item.

"Actually, that just only a little sample of it..." Sheska stated, which she then starts to pull out these other books one by one from the box.

The blond haired boy eyes begin to widen, as he see Sheska pulling 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14 books out in front of him.

"Hell...You mean all of that?" Ed said, now with anxiety growing on his face.

"Hehe...Uh yeah. Dr. Marcoh did help many people when he was in the military. He had to go though many medicine records to make sure the tests worked out right for the patients..."

"Yeah, but I didn't think it would be 'that' much information." Ed said, while already opening one of the books.

Sheska could see from the looks of things that Ed would not be finished any time soon, if he were willing to read all of this.

"Listen, I have to head back up to the front. You may have to just read as much as you can. But whatever you do, if an employee comes back here, tell them you have certification to look at these or otherwise their going to throw you out and I'm basically going to get the tormented heat for it...Got it?" Sheska said, in a slight warning tone.

Ed only nodded his head at the statement, not really paying any attention (once again), his eyes and face was mainly focused in on the book.

"I'll take that as yes...Hopefully." Sheska said, in her mind and she exits out of the room heading to the front to assist more customers.
