Fullmetal Alchemist Fan Fiction ❯ The Spirit of Alchemy ❯ I Have A Confession - Contestant Two, Dig Thy Grave ( Chapter 11 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Aw! You guysssss! I didn't expect any more reviews, and you just made my day. :3 This is definately the reason that I'm writing this story, for the audience. Now, just because of that, you guys've inspired me to write my next chapter sooner than I had planned (I was planning for Friday, December 1st or Saturday December 2nd)!

Now, before I begin, I just wanted to say thanks to you guys who've reviewed a lot (kakashifangirl_13 , Dollface, xXx Wings of a Demon xXx , SparkieGoesHuzzah , and of course, MakiyuHimura -- the person who inspired me to start in the first place! I love you guys!) -- please, keep reading! It makes me happy to know that you guys like the story!

Also, tell me, would a chapter preview be a good idea? Like halfway through the week, I'll put up part of the chapter, then later update it to have the rest?

Anyway, now for this chapter (It's a long one, yay!)

The Spirit of Alchemy

Chapter Eleven:

I Have a Confession -- Contestant Number Two, Dig Thy Grave

Recap:

Fletcher smirked. Or maybe Michi was just imagining it, because when she looked again, it was just a normal smile."So.." Fletcher started. "Are you hungry?"Michi nodded. "Yeah.... Starving!"Fletcher nodded. "Then, let's get back to the others. They'll be hungry too, I bet. Plus, they've been following us for some time now."

------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------

"Huh?! They have?" Michi asked, looking behind her. She turned just in time to see a flash of red and a metal arm vanish behind a tree. 'Of course... Ed and Al.. They can't even trust me to be with someone else for a while without running off! How horrible.. Stupid Ed!' Michi shook her head, as a michievous grin slid over her face. 'Hmph! I'll show them!'

"Fletcher.. I don't see anyone."

"Huh? But they're rig-- Oh," he trailed off, catching her look.

She smirked. "Well, not that this path isn't deserted, but wouldn't the woods be much more.... private?" She emphasized the word private, hoping that it would get to Ed and Al. If this is what they thought she'd be doing, she may as well make it seem that way. She moved closer to Fletcher, looking like she might just kiss him, but instead whispered, "Just play along Fletcher, please." His facial expression cleared, as understanding dawned on him. He smirked too.

"That's a good idea Michi.. Let's go." He took her hand, and she let out a giggle, sounding foreign and unfamilliar, completely different from her usual laugh. They disappeared off into the forest, leaving a very scared and confused pair of brothers behind.

------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------

Ed stood behind the tree. He would've charged out of it as soon as Michi had said 'private', but a pair of sturdy metal arms held him back. "Al!" he screeched, as soon as Michi and Fletcher were out of sight, "Just what the hell do you think you're doing?!"

"I'm keeping you from murdering Fletcher."

"Why? He deserves it! He's going off with Michi in the woods, alone!"

"So? Brother, did you notice Michi's expression? She saw us. She knew we were here. She's doing it on purpose."

"So.. You're saying she doesn't want to come back with us?"

Al nodded. "I think so, brother..... .....Brother?"

Ed was standing there silently. He hadn't moved since Al spoke, except to lower his head, his bangs hiding his face.

"Brother, I--" Al started, but he never got the chance to finish, because the next moment, Ed was in the air, screaming.

"WAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHH!!!!"

------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------

Michi laughed, this time no false girlish giggle, but a genuine laugh. Fletcher was beside her, smirking. Ed was clinging to a tree upside-down, looking very much like a scared cat, his jacket over his head, and eyes wide.

"Did you really think that I didn't notice you two? Or that I'd really go off with Fletcher like that?" Michi asked, still laughing. She was slightly in front of Fletcher, who was still holding her hand.

"N-not really," Al said, blushing -- Well, blushing as well a metal suit would allow. "We knew you saw us."

"Oh really? Awww....." Michi said, seeming upset that she hadn't fooled them.

"D-dammit! Michi, what the hell was that for?!" Ed asked, letting go with one hand and shaking it rapidly, glaring at her. Michi just shook her head and laughed at the sight, finding it impossible to be scared of him like that.

"What the hell's so funny?!" Ed asked, still mad at being tricked, and not knowing how much of their conversation Michi and Fletcher had heard.

"You look like a scared cat, Ed. It actually makes you look cute -- not scary."

Ed blinked, and suddenly turned red. He let go with his other hand, and gravity reversed the action he had completed earlier. He landed on top of Michi with a crash. Fletcher managed to let go of Michi's hand a split second before she had been dragged down. For a moment, both Ed and Michi lay stunned, while Al and Fletcher inquired about their health. Then Ed sat up. "Wh-what the hell was that for?!" he asked Michi, standing up.

"H-huh?" she asked, slightly dazed. She put her hand to her forehead, rubbing gently. "Ow..."

"Why did you have to say that?! You made me fall!"

"Gee Ed," Michi said, standing up and brushing herself off, "I didn't know saying you were cute would have that much of an affect on you."

Ed stood still for a moment, then spoke. "Well, it did. I'm not used to compliments like that."

"O-oh.." Michi said. She noticed suddenly that she was rather close to Ed. She blushed slightly, and looked down. Because she looked down, she didn't notice that Ed had done the same thing. "W-well... I mean it when I say it.." Michi said. They both stood in silence for a moment.

Fletcher watched. His smile turned into a glare. There was no way he was going to let Ed win, and get Michi. Not while he had special plans for her.....

Clearing his throat, Fletcher spoke, interrupting the silence. "Hey, I'm hungry. Isn't it time to eat?" He smirked ever so slightly, having the satisfaction of watching Michi and Ed jump. "C'mon!" he said, grabbing Michi's arm. Michi looked like she'd rather go with Ed, but was helpless to do anything. Fletcher dragged Michi to under a tree while Ed and Al followed.

"......Fletcher..? Just one question," Michi said slowly.

"Huh? What is it Michi?"

"...... How are we going to have lunch if there's no food?"

------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------

"Ed, I can't believe you didn't bring any food with us! What happened to it?! We had some!"

"I dunno, maybe it was the hospital, or the bandits, or the train ride?" he replied sarcastically, looking at Michi.

They were all sitting in a restaurant, just inside the outskirts of a little town. It wasn't the one that they were looking for, but, it would work for now, considering the whole party was far too starved to put off their stomach's demands any longer.

"Well, because you lost the food, you get to pay, Ed."

"Wh -- Hey! That's no fair!"

"Yes it is. You do have money, don't you?"

"N..Not really..."

"WHAAAAAT?!"

Fletcher laughed, watching them. "Don't worry, Michi. I have money. I'll pay for all of us."

"F-Fletcher, are you sure? You don't have to.. We can go without. I don't want you wasting your money."

"Don't worry about it. Ed can pay me back later, can't you, pipsqueak."

"N -- P-P.... PIPSQUEAK?!?? WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SMALL ThAT EVEN ENVY'S--" Ed stopped, not only having his mouth covered by his brother, but by Fletcher's visible twitch. He blinked. 'Weird.. He just twitched.. I wonder at what? Was it what I said?'

Michi had noticed the twitch as well. "Fletcher?"

"Ed's loud." Fletcher said, sticking a finger in his ear. Michi laughed, then nodded. "Yes, he is. But you shouldn't insult him.. He's not that short."

"H-Hey!!" Ed yelled, getting increasingly frustrated. He waved his arms wildly, almost knocking the food out of the waiter's hands.

"AAAHH!" Michi yelped, helping the waiter steady himself before a catastrophe started. The waiter sighed in relief. "Thank you miss," he said, grabbing her hand, bowing, and kissing it. "I'm indebted to you."

"U-uhh.. It's no problem.." Michi said, uncertain on how to respond.

Ed glared at the waiter while he served food -- each person got the same thing; spaghetti and a glass of........... Milk.

Throughout the meal, Michi noticed Ed glaring at the milk, never once drinking it.

"Ed? You need to drink your milk." Fletcher said, smirking.

"No."

"Why?" Michi asked, curious.

"Because I hate it."

"But it will help your bones grow st--"

"WHOAREYOUCALLINGSOSMALLTHATEVENDRINKINGALLTHEMILKINTHEWORLD WON'TMAKEHIMANYTALLER!?!?!?!?" Ed yelled, jumping up and leaning towards Michi.

Michi, for once, yelled back. "INEVERCALLEDYOUANYTHINGLIKETHATSOSITDOWNEATANDDRINKYOURMILK!!!"

A fter that, Ed sat shocked. Immediately, he grabbed the glass of milk, as if her voice had some invisible force to it, telling him that refusal was not an option. Slowly, he took a sip.

Michi smiled. "Good," she said happily.

The other two people at the table were dead silent. They seemed in shock that sweet Michi would ever yell like that. Fletcher figured they were lucky that these two were outside, or else everyone complained and they all would've been kicked out.

Michi turned to Al, curious. "Hey, Al? You need to eat."

Al looked around wildly, pretending that he didn't hear. Now it was Ed's turn to be silent. Michi got the feeling she said something she shouldn't have, but shrugged it off. "You're going to be hungry later, Al. Now eat!" Her tone was cheery, but Al was scared of her temper after hearing her yell, so pretended to eat.

"U-uh.... Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm........" he said.

Michi smiled again, seemingly happy. She knew very well that there was no body inside that armor, but if they weren't going to tell her that themselves, then she'd make life difficult for them until they did.

"Hey, Michi? After lunch, you and Al are gonna go someplace, alright?"

"Huh?" she asked, looking at the speaker -- Ed. "Why?"

"Because, he has something he wants to show you. It just slipped his mind."

"You do, Al?" she asked, looking at him.

"Y-yeah," he said. 'Brother really wants to win....... I don't have anything to show her.. Oh well, I'll have to make something up. Luckily, there's a long time before lunch is over..' Al thought.

Just then the waiter came with the bill, causing Al to freeze. 'Well.. So much for that idea.'

------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------

Al stood behind the restaurant, and removed the bottom of the armor, lifting his leg up while a plate's worth of spaghetti and a glass worth of milk spilled out on to the floor. Sighing, he re-attached the bottom, and looked at his brother next to him.

"You know, that's gross Al."

"What else can I do, Brother? We haven't told Michi about my....... Body."

"Yeah.. Well, maybe it's time to tell her. But, it's up to you Al. We can tell her our story, and tell her to tell us hers. It can be an equivalent exchange." Ed smirked. "Just like alchemy."

"Anyway, do you have any idea what you're going to do, Al?"

"..N-no....."

"Well, you better think fast, because here comes Michi," he said, pointing to the side of the restaurant, where Michi was, heading towards them.

"Brother, can you make something out of the spaghetti and milk so she doesn't know I dumped it out?"

"Sure," he said casually, placing his hands on the ground in front of the mess. A blue light flickered, causing Michi to stop in her tracks. She shielded her eyes, wondering what Ed was making now.

"Here," Ed said, tossing the object to Al. "Give that to her."

"Wh-wha? But it's a......."

AN: MUAHAHAHAHA!!! Cliffhanger!

Sorry! It's only a cliffhanger because I have no idea what to say the spaghetti and milk was turned into. I'll think of something for the next chapter (which hopefully I'll have up soon, but..... You never know).

Anyway, this is a lot longer than I wanted, I was hoping to finish Al's date in this chapter, but so much for that. I guess I just set it up. Oh well, the next chapter will definately include the whole date (as of now I say that, remember -- it'll probably change).

Hope you guys liked this chapter! If there's anything you want to see happen, please give me a review saying so!!

Also, it would be helpful if you would please give a review answering these:
