Chapter 2: Hit the road jack

Cassie smacked her cousin. “Shut up Dennis! Auntie he's lying!” Her aunt wasn't buying it. She walked up to Ed and checked his pockets. “Hey lady, what the hell are you doing!?” Ed yelled. Rena ignored him and pulled out his watch. “Well well well. I should have known. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU IN MY HOME?!” “I told you! I'm hungry!” Ed retaliated. Cassie smacked Dennis again. “This is your entire fault!” Dennis rubbed his forehead. “How is it my fault?” “SHUT UP BOTH OF YA'LL!” Rena shouted. “ALL STATE ALCHEMISTS ARE DOGS! I WANT YOU BOTH OUT OF MY HOUSE!” She tossed the watch back to Ed. “Please auntie! Let them stay! I bet they are starving and…” Cassie never finished her sentence. Her aunt yelled at her and told her to throw Ed and Al out.

Cassie did as she was told and ushered them out. “I'm sorry but you will have to leave. I would say it was a pleasure having you but I can't.” She shook Ed's hand and slammed the door.

“I can't believe this! All I wanted was food! But no, I get tossed out for being a state alchemist!” yelled Ed. He took a rock and threw it at the door. “They are all so rude!” “But didn't that girl slip you a note?” asked Al. Ed checked his pocket's and found a note.

Dear Sirs,
I truly apologize for my aunt's horrible behavior. If you stay near my house, I'll by you some lunch.

From,
Cassandra Renolds.

P.S. Sorry for slamming the door. I had to make the scene look convincing.

Ed smiled. “What do ya know, I get to eat anyway!” “Are you sure we can trust her?” asked Al. “Of course. What is she gonna do to us anyway?”

“She could get us arrested.”

“For what, Al? Seriously.”

“Trespassing?”

“What? That doesn't make since.”

“She could say that we cause a disturbance with we technically did.”
“True. But I'm starving so I'm staying here.”

“What ever you say brother. Always gotta think with your stomach and not with your brain…”

“Just shut up. It's not like you eat.”
Cassie rushed downstairs to get outside but she was stopped by Dennis. “Where are you going?” he asked suspiciously. “None of your business now get out of my way!” She tried to push forward but her cousin was too strong. “If you're not going anywhere, why are you still wearing your blue contact lense?” he asked. She had no idea what to say. She didn't want to go out in public and expose her green eye, but she also didn't want to get in trouble for hanging out with alchemists. “I'm going for a walk!” she lied. Dennis dipped into her pocket and took out her wallet. “If you're going for a walk why are you carrying money?”

“I'm going into town to shop.”

“Why didn't you say that before?”

“Your interrogating me aren't you?”

“I might be. So are you gonna tell me were you're really going?”

“Of course not!”

“Then I won't let you through.”

“Let me through!”

“Fine you big baby.”

He moved from the door and Cassie rushed out. “I can't believe that idiot!” she yelled to sky dropping to the ground. “Um excuse me? Are you ok?” asked Al. She then remembered her note and turned to see Ed and Al staring at her. She blushed furiously and quickly sprang to her feet. “I'm sorry about that. I see you got my note.” “Are you really gonna fed me?” asked Ed. Cassie smiled.

“Of course! I wouldn't want you to go hungry.” Ed hugged Cassie's knees. “Oh Cassidy! Bless your kind soul!” Cassie blushed again. “It's Cassandra.” Ed quickly got up blushing. “Oh right. Well my name is Edward Elric. This is my brother Alphonse.” “Nice to meet you” said Al. “Hi. As you may already know, I'm Cassandra Renolds. You're a state alchemist, no? “Why yes I am. The Fullmetal Alchemist to be exact!” said Ed in a somewhat Eee-ish way. He took out his watch and started parading around. Cassie and Al sweatdropped. “Oh brother.” said Al. “I hope ya'll are used to walking, cause town's 5 miles from here and I only have one bike. The other one is my cousin's.” said Cassie. Ed did an animefall but quickly got back up. “5 MILES!” Cassie giggled. “Yup!” She started running down the path but tripped on her extremely long hair.

Ed and Al rushed after her. “Are you ok?” Ed asked while trying to keep his laughter under control. Cassie unwrapped the hair from her feet and laughed. “I'm fine! This happens way too often!” Ed tried to help her up but he was so weak that he ended up falling backwards. “I don't think I can make it” he said. “Carry me.” Al picked up his brother and put him on his shoulders. Cassie giggled slightly. “It's sad how your brother has to carry you. But hey, what are big brothers for?” Ed flashed her a murderous glare. “FOR YOUR INFORMATION I AM THE OLDER BROTHER! AND WHY DON'T YOU TRY WALKING TWENTY MILES WITHOUT EATING FOR 24 HOURS!!!”

“Well sorry. I didn't know. You're so touchy…” Cassie replied. They continued to walk but he suddenly stopped. “Why are you stopping?” asked Al. She didn't reply. She was busy looking at the person coming up the road. “Shit!” she thought. “Why do I have to bump into him now?” The guy saw her and ran up to them. “Well well well. If it ain't Anastasia!” Cassie winced. “It's Ah-nah-stah-sgah! I don't like people calling me that!” “Aww come on Annie! Show some love why don't ya?” “Anastasia?” asked Ed. “I thought your name was Cassandra?” The guy chuckled.

“Oh Annie. You gotta stop telling people your middle name is your first name. It's dumb.”

“You're dumb Rick.”

“Annie Annie… Why don't you like me? We practically grew up together.”

“Do I give a damn?”

“Your mean. I wonder what your aunt will say when she finds out your being mean to your potential husband?”

“Pulease! The day I marry you will be the day hell freezes over! Twice!

He walked passed her with a goofy smile. He continued walking until he was at least five yards away. “And another thing” he said “Don't have a cow just because you can't get over your own personal issues Anastasia Cassandra Renolds!” With that he sprinted down the road as fast as he could so Cassie couldn't kill him. “YOU BASTARD!” she yelled after him.

Ed and Al looked at her quizzically. “I know” Cassie said. “You want to know why I lied and who that jerk is.” “That would be a start” said Ed. “Well that guy was Ricky Harrison. He tried to get me to date him for years. He thinks that just because my family likes him, I should marry him. Ha! Fat chance!” She paused and looked at them. “Continue” said Al. “I lied about my name because mostly people call me Cassandra and it kinda stuck. Also… Anastasia was my mother's name and she…” She stopped. She turned her back and kept walking, tears streaming down her face. Neither Ed nor Al bothered to ask.
