[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
I think this is the fastest Ive ever updated. I was going to update my stories all at the same time...but that idea died quickly. Lol. I'll probably be updating fortnightly, but I guess it depends on how quick my ideas roll out! :D
Disclaimer: I in no way own FullMetal Alchemist, though I do own the current Fuhrer, Jacob.
Below are all my review responses - of you've reviewed on the previous chapter look for your name, otherwise just skip it and read my wonderful new chapter! Lol. :D
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
Cloverfirefire19 - Yeah, I'm not sure how people are going to react to the new version but so far on mediaminer and ff.net the responses have all been good so I'm glad. I really do think this version is better. I hope that you like the changes I've made and things like that! :D

Thankyou all for taking the time to review! I really appreciate it. Without further adue, here's chapter 2!
Chapter 2 - A different look
"So you might as well pack your stuff while we're here. You'll be staying at my apartment till we leave so we can get used to each other and get to know one another. We have two days before we leave," Mustang finished, waiting. Ed didnt dissapoint.
"Why don't you go to hell!? Are you INSANE!?" Ed screamed. Of all the reasons he could have come up with for Mustang's visit, this wasn't one of them.
"FullMetal, my psychological well being is none of your concern," Mustang replied. As usual, Edwards temper was starting to make him feel better. Maybe it was that raw energy that Ed projected.
Ed glared at him.
"Well they should be, you lunatic! There's no way in hell I'm doing that mission. I won't be your boy toy!" Ed yelled, enraged by the idea. Interesting wording, Mustang thought, the idea certainly didnt sound repulsive.
"You know that's not what the mission is about Ed. Don't try and make it worse than it is"
"Find someone else! There's no way in hell I'm going with you, you egotistical jerk, and there's no way I'm staying at your house!" Ed told him.
"Apartment," Mustang corrected. "And I can gurantee you will be. Are you sure you won't willingly agree to come?"
"There's no way in hell and never with you"
Mustang sighed, a little hurt. Though he had known this would be the blonde teen's response.
"Fine," he said and pulled a small set of papers from his uniform jacket and handed them to Ed, who took them warily. Mustang stood up and walked over to the bathroom and closed the door behind himself. Ed didn't spare him a glance as he read, his eyes getting angrier and angrier. The Fuhrer had signed papers that if FullMetal Alchemist Major Edward Elric didn't willingly go along with the plan allocated for helping with the militaries latest threat, which included the preparation from the mission (being an occupant in the Mustang household and familiarising yourself with the personal aspect of each other, non-sexually speaking), then it would be considered an act of treason and he would be dealth with accordingly. And at the bottom of the page before the signature of King Fuhrer Jacob, it stated that whilst on the mission he was to obey all orders from his Commanding Officer Flame Alchemist Colonel Roy Mustang.
"Edward do you -" Mustang stopped as he came out to duck quickly to miss hitting Ed's fist with his face (1). Roy quickly grabbed Ed's arms and spun him around, securing Ed's back against his front, arranging his arms so that Ed couldn't get out using force on his automail arm without snapping his real one. He leaned down and whispered in Ed's ear.
"I could court martial you for that"
Ed shivered slightly and blushed. Mustang smirked slightly and pulled Ed against him more, bringing their bodies even closer together. And there it was again, Mustang hadn't imagined it, Ed had shivered.
"Are you reacting to this Edward? Does this turn you on?"
Ed's eyes closed slightly as Mustang lightly brushed his neck with his un-gloved fingertips. As his hand trailed further down and across Ed's chest he replaced the area on his neck where his fingertips were with his mouth. Ed bit his tongue to stop himself from moaning - his neck being a rather sensitive area - for at the same time Mustangs hand had lifted the hem of his black shirt, only lightly touching his stomach, making it quiver. Mustang noticed the quiver and the tensing.
"This is doing wonders for my ego. The great FullMetal Alchemist melting at my feet, you -" Mustang stopped as Ed struggled and shoved him away.
"You stupid jerk," Ed yelled, tensing to strike him when the phone rang.
Ring, Ring
Both Ed and Roy jumped, the noise completely unexpected and foreign in their little world.
Ring, Ring
As if he had only just realised what a phone was Ed walked over and picked it up.
"Hello?" His face lit up. "Al!"
Mustang went back into the bathroom with a neutral facial expression, disguising his slightly faster beating heart.
"Are you coming back soon?" Edward asked.
"...soon. I need a little more time"
"Okay but hurry up Al, I'm lonely"
"I know brother, but this is important"
"I know that Al!" Ed heard opening and shutting of cupboards in his and Al's bathroom.
"What the...? Can I call you back later Al?"
"Uh...okay"
"Thanks, bye," Ed hung up the phone and marched into the bathroom.
"What the HELL are you doing?" Ed yelled as he saw Roy on his knees putting stuff into a green back pack. Ed recognised it as the bag Winry had given to him on her last visit, telling him he needed to be more organised.
"What does it look like Ed?" Mustang answered, not even looking up, putting things neatly into the bag.
"I'm not going!" Ed objected. Mustang stood up and by the looks of it, had finished packing Ed's toiletries.
"Would you rather go to jail?" he enquired, raising an eyebrow. Ed said nothing, his furious expression saying it all, and walked out. Roy sighed and waited a moment before going out with the green bag. Ed had an open suitcase on his bed and was throwing clothes into it. Mustang put the green bag by the small table and walked over to Ed and started taking the clothes back out of the suitcase. Ed kept throwing them in without saying a word, still brooding. Mustang gripped his arm before he could throw anymore in.
"Stop. Sit down," he said gently. Edward was so damn angry, at the military, at Mustang, that he didn't argue and let Mustang seat him on the bed.
Ed just stared at Mustang, slightly suprised as he began folding Ed's clothes neatly and placing them in the suitcase.
"Believe me Ed; I don't want to go either. The last thing I need is to be in close proximity with you for a month"
"You're not exactly easy to be around either!" Ed yelled. Mustang sighed.
"All I'm saying is that I was forced into this as well. Don't think those papers were the only set made. You might as well get used to it because we are going. We're going to get these men, doing anything necessary to accomplish that; we're going to put them where they belong. Is this everything?"
"Yeah," Ed muttered. Mustang closed the suitcase, clipped it and threw it at Ed, who roughly caught it.
"Good. The maids will come clean later. Let's go"
-------------------------------------------------------------- -------------
Ed sighed as the car stopped. Not having paid much attention to his surroundings he now had no idea where Mustang's apartment actually was, assuming they were in the military barracks somewhere. But either way, here they were; Roy's apartment. This just seemed too weird, too intimate. Even with the mission requirements.
"Getting out?" Roy's voice held a little sarcasm. Biting his retort Ed jumped out of the car and grabbed the green bag and suitcase. Turning around he started. The building before him was plain stone with many windows, one set of doors at the front and was atleast 5 stories high. Ed turned to Mustang, confused. Didn't Mustang say he lived in an apartment? Wasn't he talking about a place in the military barracks? What was this huge building? Mustang chuckled.
"Relax Ed. This building is made up of many apartments. Do you do anything but study alchemy?"
Ed ignored him and strode past him, giving him a little shove to emphasise his anger. Mustang just smirked and followed.
-------------------------------------------------------- ---------------
"What do you mean fifth floor!?" Ed yelled.
"Edward, as you so kindly informed me less then an hour ago, it is rather early on a Saturday. Shut up"
"Bastard!" Ed hissed.
"Come on Ed," Mustang said as he began walking up the stairs. "I know the stairs seem large in comparisan but-"
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SHORT HE'D HAVE TO CRAWL UP STAIRS!?"
"Volume Ed. You don't want little old ladies hitting you. Though with their eyesight they'd never be able to stop you-"
Ed continued screaming at Mustang as they ascended the stairs.
---------------------------------------------------------- ----------
Mustang's apartment was the very last one, number 66. Ed tapped his foot impatiently as Mustang unlocked the door. As they walked in Ed stared in amazement. Mustangs apartment looked normal. Considerably bigger then his and Al's dormroom it certainly seemed more lived in. Draped across a stool that was sitting on one side of an island bench (2) was Mustangs black uniform coat. Beside that stool was two others. Dishes from his morning breakfast were still in the sink, making Ed look sharply at him, realising his lie. Damn, Mustang thought, forgot to clean that up. The tv in the living room which was seperated from the kitchen by a single step, was turned off, the remote on the coffee table, which had several coasters and an empty coffee mug on it. There were a few papers strewn across it. A pen without a lid (the lid sitting next to it) was sitting beside them. They must have been military documents or something. The couch was a really nice coffee brown. There were no armchairs, just the three-seater couch. On one of the seats cushions was a washing basket, which Ed assumed, held clean clothing. Since they were folded it was a pretty good guess. There was a bowl of fruit and a vase of fresh flowers on the island bench. No dining table was in sight. The air smelled strangely fresh, making Ed wonder if Mustang lived with someone else. The curtains on the window beside the TV (3) was the same colour as the lounge.
"Don't look so suprised Ed. What did you expect?" Mustang asked.
"Uh...I don't know," Ed admitted. Not this.
Mustang chuckled.
"Make yourself at home, I'll be back in a minute"
Ed just nodded, still looking around. Mustang just shook his head as he went through an open doorway (4) and down a hallway Ed hadn't noticed.
When Mustang returned Ed was still in the same position as he had been when he had left.
"Sit down Ed, you're making the place look untidy," Mustang said as he walked over to the fridge. The fridge that was completely white...devoid of anything on it...
Ed glared as he sat down on an empty stool.
"Drink?" Mustang asked as he held up a water bottle. Ed shook his head.
"No, thanks"
Mustang shrugged and took a drink. Ed looked around, this time because he was bored.
"I don't have a spare room so you'll be sleeping on a pullout bed in my study okay?"
"Study?" Ed looked back at Mustang. Mustang nodded.
"Yeah. Feel free to read whatever you want"
"Read?" Ed asked, unable to stop himself from getting curious. Did he have any books on Alchemy?
"Stop repeating me like that. Come with me," Mustang beckoned as he began walking back down the hallway. Ed followed, a little more eager to see Mustang's study then he wanted to be. Ed strode in before Mustang could as Mustang opened the door. Roy just smirked. How predictable was Ed? Just show him some alchemy books and he was practically eating out of your palm.
As Ed scanned the titles on the spines he knew that he hadnt read a lot of the books on the 1st bookcase out of the four in the room. Picking a book at random he went and sat in the armchair by the window. It was beside a small side-table that held a lamp. And that was beside a desk that was cluttered with books, papers, pens etc. Ed really hadn't been looking around at his surroundings when he came in. He was interested in the books. He had completely missed the pullout bed just beside one of the bookcases. It wasn't made but the blankets, sheets and pillows were neatly stacked at the end of it. The open curtains, where the light was streaming in, above the desk were deep blood red. Ed opened the book and began reading.
"Make yourself comfortable," Mustang said in mocking. But Ed didn't seem to have heard him. He was already enthralled in the book.
"Read anything you want but don't look at the books in the back fourth bookcase in that dark corner, its off bounds okay?" Mustang said. Ed looked up at that, indicating that though he hadn't answered before, he had heard Roy.
Mustang smirked at him.
"Don't get lost in all the books. Being so small it might be a litte overwhelming-" He didn't get to finish that sentence.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SHORT A COUPLE OF BOOKS WOULD BURY THEM!?" Ed yelled.
Mustang's smirk grew as he walked out and closed the door behind himself. Looks like Ed would be in there for hours.
----------------------------------------------------------- ----------------
And he really had been too. Mustang looked up from reading through the documents he had been looking at on the coffee table and discovered that it was almost 3 in the afternoon. Time for food he decided. He stood and stretched. The paper he had forgotten about fluttered to the ground. He placed it back on the table and went to go make lunch, his stomach demanding it. With Ed having such a big apetite Mustang wondered why Ed hadn't come out and screamed at him to make lunch. Opening the fridge Mustang shook his head with a smile. Ed and his obsession with Alchemy.
--------------------------------------------------------- --------------
Ed bit his lip and glanced at the back corner again. Mustang had told him not to look in the back section, but wasn't that just asking him to? Unable to resist his childish curiosity he put the book he was currently reading onto the side table and walked over to the back. Looking at the titles on the spines Ed gasped, his eyes widening. No, he had to be wrong! All the books were about...forbidden alchemy! And there were so many books! Too many for just a passing curiosity! Human transumation, Chimeras, transmuting silver to gold. He reached out a hand towards them.
"Ed" A warning voice behind him stopping him in his tracks from touching the books. Ed whirled around, suddenly angry.
"What the hell are you doing with books like this!?"
"I thought I told you not to go back there"
"Don't act stupid, you knew I'd look!"
"No, actually, Ed. I was hoping you were adult enough to respect someones wishes," Mustang said as he folded his arms.
Ed stared at Mustang, stunned at the words. A little guilt seeped into his stomach. He blushed in shame.
"I can at least trust you not to read them can't I?"
Ed looked away from Mustang's piercing gaze, his eyes downcast.
"Of course," he said quietly.
"You've caused enough trouble for yourself using human transmutation, wouldn't want you to lose any more limbs"
Ed look back at him sharply, throwing daggers with his eyes.
"You bastard!" he hissed. Mustang turned, his back facing Ed. If Ed thought he was going to get an explanation about those books, he was sadly mistaken.
"Come on, I've made lunch," he stated and then walked out. With one last glance at the books Ed followed Roy.
Well, hope you liked it! :D
(1) I've always wanted to phrase someone punching someone in this way, so i did! Lol.
