Before she could jump for joy she saw the jewel in the air and heard it crack. Then there was it looked as if it exploded into a thousand pieces and flew in a bunch of different directions.

Everyone in the `group' that had seen it had one though.

`That does not look good…”

Chapter 6: A Broken Jewel

Kagome and Inuyasha walked forward to where the remains of the bird youkai was to see if the jewel was there, but there seemed to be nothing there. All of a sudden the leg of the bird flew towards Kagome and Inuyasha intercepted slashing at the piece of flesh. Kagome then saw it. It was a tiny pink glow. She went forward to pick it up. It was a shard of the Shikon no tama.

“What is it?”

She laughed weakly.

“It's a shard of the Shikon…”

“WHAT?!”

~*Moments later in the village

When they had barely gotten into the village, Inuyasha rushed forward and yelled.

“What the hell is HE doing here?!”

Inuyasha was waving and pointing his finger at Sesshoumaru, who in turn looked rather bored.

“I'm here for my mate.”

Inuyasha looked around the village and saw no other demons than themselves.

“Who's your mate? I don't see any other demons here.”

“Use your nose half-breed.”

He sniffed the air and looked at Amii, who had Sesshoumaru's scent all over her and Sesshoumaru vice versa.

“What the hell! You've haven't even been here for two days and you're mated already?! What kind of whore are you?!”

“SIT! How dare you call my sister a whore!”

Shunu stomped on his head. “She's her own woman and she can do whatever the fuck she wants, ahou!”

“Insult what is mine and it shall be your last breath.”

After a few short arguments and grumbling they managed to all sit in Kaede's hut to talk about what had happened. Starting with Amii about her new mate.

“Well guys… I guess you could say I got married last night… It just happened… Sesshoumaru drank my blood and lived so yeah… That's about all I can say for myself… Since we drank each other's blood and even marked each other, we're bound to each other now… But I don't regret it one bit!”

She smiled at Sesshoumaru holding onto his hand as if to assure him of how she felt. It wasn't an accident and she was rather happy to be mated with him. He was inwardly pleased that she felt as such towards him. Their thoughts were broken when Kagome cleared her throat.

“I have bad news guys…”

Everyone turned to look at her, while Inuyasha looked away clearly pissed about what she was going to say.

“I broke the Shikon no tama…”

“What…”

“Ya gotta be kiddin' me!”

“You had the Shikon no tama?”

“That will mean that all of ye must find them. There will be humans and youkai alike seeking these shards in order to gain power. If any of them were to piece together the whole jewel. All will be doomed.”

“Oh well… Life was getting boring in the 21st century anyways… Now we'll have something to do and take down some bad guys right, Shunu?”

“I guess so… But I don't know if Kag can handle this time period.”

“It'll be no prob cuz she has all of us here to protect her and maybe she'll be able to pick up some fighting skills. It'll be fun! And we can help Miroku out with the Naraku thing too!

“No… I rather have Chiri here… He can transport her away if there's any trouble…”

“But how are we going to get home in the first place? You want to jump back in the well?”

“It's worth a shot. I mean with Miaka it was the book wasn't it? So maybe the well is the same thing?”

“Okay! Shunu, Kagome and me are gunna try to go home and gather some stuff for this `journey'. Hopefully we'll also be able to bring my brother in law to come and help. We'll be back in a couple of days.”

“Hey! Who gave you any right to leave when the jewel's out there?!”

“Because it's necessary.”

Amii glared at Inuyasha. “Unless you need me to `convince' you it's necessary.”

“Feh… Fine, Do whatever the hell you want.”

~*The Well

“Well… This is the moment of truth…”

The time travels held hands as they jumped into the well and was enveloped in a blue light as the others peered down in amazement.

They had landed softly to the ground and heard Souta's voice calling.

“Souta?!”

“GUYS?!”

“I never thought I'd be so happy to hear your voice, twerp.”

“And I never thought I see you at the bottom of a well either, no da.”

“You're back!”

Shunu was relieved at hearing the monk's voice happy that he wouldn't have to call Chiri to come back from China from his trip.

They climbed out of the well only to receive hugs and questions from their family, who hadn't seen them for the past two days. After Amii explained what had happened with the jewel and how they had to put it back together to keep it out of the wrong hands, how she had ended up being mated to a youkai and that they needed Chiri's help.

“It's a good thing that I just finished a major project and I don't have to come back to work for quite some time, no da.”

“Yeah… How lucky are we, huh? Anyways… I think Shunu and I have to make some calls to our bosses telling them that we're going to be unable to work for some time.”

Amii turned to look at Kagome. She knew the girl had school this was her last year of middle school. She knew it was a crucial period for the girl with entrance exams. Her thoughts were interrupted when Kagome spoke up.

“Yeah. I'll just have Jii-chan make up excuses that I'm sick or something. Is that okay, mama>?”

Her mother just smiled and asked her, “Are you sure that's what you want, honey?”

“I have to. It's my responsibility.”

Kagome nodded with a determination that reminded Shunu and Chiri of a miko they had once protected. They couldn't help but smile at their younger sister in admiration and respect. Amii grinned.

“Well! At least you have me and Chiri to help you cram whenever you need to and you can always bring your books, ne?”

Their mother looked at them with pride. School was important, but she knew that Kagome was a responsible girl. She could deny her daughter nothing.

“Of course, Kagome. Whatever you feel is best. I will be here supporting you. Now let's go to bed, we're going to have a long day tomorrow.”

They couldn't have asked for a better mother.

~* A few days later on the other side

Sesshoumaru had left for the couple of days to take care of his lands before coming back to the well for his mate, whereas Miroku and Kaede had managed to get Inuyasha to stay in the village and wait for rumors of the whereabouts of the shards. Inuyasha's patience was dangerously running thin. He had just about enough with waiting for the time travelers and was about to jump into the well when a cold voice stopped him.

“Just what do you think you are doing, half breed? Did my mate not say they would return in a few days time?”

“Che! How can I trust anyone mated to you?!”

“Then why would you trust her to accompany you on this quest or with the shard the other girl carries?”

“SHIT! I didn't think about that.”

Just when Inuyasha was going to jump into the well a blue light appeared and with a flash, the ones in question were next to the well.

“What the fuck? How the hell did you do that?!”

A man with a childish smiling face answered.

“That would be my doing, no da!”

“And just who the hell are you?”

“He sure has Tasuki's mouth doesn't he, no da?”

“Don't lump me up with dog boy Chiri.”

“Eh. Shut up bro. He just wants to know who Chiri is. Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru this is Chichiri, Shunu's monk boy.”

Chichiri ignored Inuyasha completely as he walked towards

“Ah… So this is the Sesshoumaru Amii bounded herself with, no da. It is a pleasure to finally meet you, no da.”

“HEY! I was talking to you monk!”

Chichiri bonked Inuyasha and proceeded to bow towards Sesshoumaru showing his respect. Sesshoumaru gave him a rare smile as if he approved of the man.

“The pleasure would be mine.”

Inuyasha was stunned and started jumping up and down pointing at Sesshoumaru accusingly.

“Since when did you like meeting humans, Fluffy?!”

“What this Sesshoumaru does is no concern of yours half breed.”

Amii was a little confused at the familiarity of the two, but they looked somewhat similar with their silver hair and golden eyes.

“Err… Are you guys brothers?”

“Half brother.” They both stated at the same time before glaring at each other.

“Okay, enough you guys. Let's start looking. The sooner we start the faster we can get this over and done with, ne?”

Before anyone could say anything they heard a croaking voice calling out.

“Lord Sesshoumaru!!!”

Out came a small toad like creature holding a staff with two heads.

“Were you successful in finding the grave?”

“Forgive this Jaken!! I was unable to locate the grave.”

“You're lookin' for a grave? Who's grave you lookin' for?”

“Why you stupid, human! How dare you talk to Lord Sesshoumaru in such a way!”

Before Jaken could raise his staff of heads, Sesshoumaru stepped on him.

“He is the brother of my mate.”

“Your what?! Lord Sesshoumaru you took a mate? A HUMAN mate?! Why Lord Sesshoumaru? Why would you take such a lowly breed?”

“It was an accident.”

Those words stung, but she smiled and asked.

“Do you have a clue as to where this grave is?”

“I have but one. It is in a place one can see, yet cannot be seen. A place its own guardian can never look upon.”

Everyone looked confused at the riddle, but Amii laughed.

“What do you find so funny, wench?”

“Oh, because I think I know where it is?”

“Would you care to enlighten this Sesshoumaru, mate?”

She looked at him coldly and answered.

“There is something being hinted at such as see, seen, and look upon. We use our eyes to do such things. It is a `place' one can see, but we it cannot be seen since we cannot look inside our eyes now can we? Meaning the guardian can never look upon this place. As pertaining to who has the grave inside their eye, I believe it would be Inuyasha. Since he has never heard of the riddle and would not be one to look for it.”

Sesshoumaru smirked, “Then this Sesshoumaru will be glad to rid you of it.”

Before he could come close to Inuyasha Amii stopped him.

“Let me do it.”

She closed her eyes as she placed her hands over Inuyasha's face. Slowly she let go of Inuyasha's face as a black portal formed in her hands. When it was big enough for a person to fit through, Sesshoumaru jumped in with Kagome and Inuyasha following into the portal. Before anyone could jump into the portal, Amii vanished inside the portal leaving the rest of the group in shock.

When Inuyasha and Kagome came through, Sesshoumaru was nowhere to be found. They stood there in awe of the huge bones that were no other than the remains of brothers' father. When they were about to go towards the bone Inuyasha smacked his neck and a small voice was heard.

“Long time no see Lord Inuyasha.”

“Myoga! What are you doing here?”

“I followed Lord Sesshoumaru to you so that you can know about the sword! You have to get the sword Inuyasha!”

“Heh! Of course anything to hurt Fluffy's pride!”

Kagome shook her head in disapproval when Amii chimed in.

“Well then, what are we waiting for then? Let's go.”

`I know that it was an accident. So I might as well make him forget about it. I'll hide his mark. He'll never know… He'll be better off this way. I know it…'

With those thoughts they headed towards the grave where Sesshoumaru would be waiting.
