Ok! Second chappie to Birthday Girl! Nat and Boushin shall meet for the first time! When will Nat find out they're betrothed? Who knows! Not even I do! But when i figure it out, you will too, so be patient my little friendy people!
; Natalie woke the next morning as the sun filtered through her window and into her eyes, "Damn sun.... Gets up too early in the morning... Doesn't it know about sleeping in on your birthday?" She mutters to herself as she climbs sleepily out of bed and gets dressed for the day. "Now where did I put that shirt yesterday...? Back in the closet? Gods damn it...." She goes back into the vortex called her closet to find the awol shirt that had somehow not only managed to get back into the closet, but also under the rest of the clothes in the pile, "How in the hells did it back in here? I could've sworn I put it on the chair with the other stuff... Oh well."
She gets dressed, the shirt exposing the blue butterfly tatoo just above her chest, and the black tribal one on her upper left arm. Ones she had gotten in a random case of rebellion when she was fourteen. Grinning, she adds the band and bracelets before heading downstairs to eat before people begin to arive.
"Good morning, Natalie," Kurama greets her with a smile as he places a plate of pancakes on the table before giving her a tight hug. "Happy birthday!"
Smiling, she sits down next to Hiei and begins munching happily on her plate of what now looks nothnig like pancakes, but a mass of sticky syrup. She finishes and whipes the little bit of syrup smudging the side of her mouth before asking curiously, "So who's coming today, anyway? I know you told me that you invited some old friends, but I have yet to hear of any of them."
Kurama smiles again, "Well, Hiei's and my good friends from Hong-nan are coming along with their families, Rem decided to visit so he can give you his preasant in person for once, Yusuke, Keiko is staying with Shain who's pissed at us at the moment, and Kuwabara, Yukina, and their daughter are coming. That's it if memory serves me right."
Tilting her head slightly, Natalie inquires, "Hong-nan? Where's that, in China? Who's coming all the way from there just for my birthday?"
Hiei shifts slightly in his chair before looking her in the eye, and Kurama responds, "Well, there's something Hiei and I have been meaning to tell you...."
"Well? What is it? Might as well get out any sore news before I become happy and carefree again for the day."
Shifting even more, trying to figure out how to say this without having her spaz and blockage herself in her room, Hiei begins on his answer the best he can, "Well, when you were born, our friend and the emporor of Hong-nan, Hotohori, had a son who was a year old. By their customs, any heir has to have a betrothed...."
Flashes of red begin to show in her eyes as they narrow slightly and she realizes where this conversation is leading, "And who is his betrothed, Father?"
Hiei looks at her, still trying to keep her from being mad at him, "You are..."
With that, she stands up and glares at them with her arms crossed, "And you didn't think to tell me this BEFORE today?! If I hadn't mentioned my guests, would have EVER told me, or would you have left the poor guy I'm to marry to tell me on his own?!"
The two men look at each other before facing back to her. Kurama is the first to venture to say something, "You're not angry about being betrothed? We're sorry we didn't tell you before now, but we didn't want to upset you by telling you at a younger age...."
She sighs and nods, "I guess that makes sense. I probably would've been even more pissed at you if you'd told me a couple years before now. Anyway, when is everyone getting here?"
"Around noon. Though Hoto and the other Seishi might get here sooner. That gives you a couple hours to yourself at least, so go practice or something."
When Boushin woke up, the first thing he did was dress in a set of his formal robes and get ready to leave. According to his father, it would take a couple hours to get there, and he needed to be ready. As he finished dressing, Hoto comes in and is wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt he had gotten in Miaka's world.
"Why are you so dressed up, Boushin? This is not a formal event."
"I figured that since I am going to be meeting my fiance for the first time, that it should be a formal happening and I would be expected to dress as such. Is not, I will change," He replies, secretly relieved that he didn't have to wear the robes. Changing into a pair of jeans and a button down shirt before he leaves, and makes sure he has everything. Nodding, he heads off on his horse with the others and hopes it won't be too long of a ride until they get to this Makai place.
Natalie sits down at her desk and reads through some homework assignments her dad had given her, "I don't see why I have to learn this stuff. It's not like I'm going to live in the Ningen-kai ever, so what's the point?"
"Because you will be living in the Ningen-kai once you marry Boushin. He's the emporor of a ningen country and will have to live there, so you will, too," Kurama answers as he comes in to check on her.
"You mean to tell me he's not even a demon!?" She growls. "I can't believe I have to do this."
Before Kurama has a chance to say anything else, there's a knock on the door and Nat is already half way down the stairs to answer it and see who had arrived.
Hoto had Boushin knock on the door as they waited for someone to open the door. Barely five seconds later, the door was opened by what Boushin decided was Natalie. She tilts her head slightly before stepping away from the door and letting them in, scowling slightly at Boushin before figuring she might as well play nice for at least a little while. Or until she can think of a way to get her parents to cancel the engagement.
She watches as Boushin places his preasants on the table next to her fathers' preasants before walking back over to her and giving her hand a small kiss, "I can assume that you are Natalie?"
Taken aback by the polite jesture, she nods and replies, "I am, and you must be Boushin. It's nice to finally meet you."
He also nods and gives her a small smile that was enough to melt her resolve to be a bitch a little, "My father tells me that you are the one I am to marry next spring. I hope this doesn't catch you by too much surprise...."
"No, my parents decided they would tell me this morning," She answers as another flash of red goes through her eyes before they settle back to their stunning green. "I was annoyed that they waited so long to tell me husband was already chosen for me, I could have ended up with someone worse than yourself."
A grin flits across his features before he adds, "But you could've done better."
Chuckling, she nods a little and leads Boushin to the living room so they could talk and get to know each other before the other guests arrived. An hour later found the two lost in conversation about their random likes and dislikes, what they planned on doing, ect.
"I don't want to be emporor any more than my father does, but I have to. I sit in on the meetings he has with his advisors and they put me to sleep almost every time."
"I was planning on carrying on my parents' theiving legacy, but I suppose that's out of the question now that I'm going to be an emporess. It all sounds so very boring to just sit around and look pretty while having to do nothing. I don't think I'll be able to do that."
"You can do whatever you like. It's not like I'm going to stop you. You could annoy the advisors to death for all I truly care. They really are pointless aditions to the palace's staff and serve no purpose other than to tell me and father how to run our lives and the country, even if we already know what we're going to do to solve a problem."
"That just sounds too annoying! If someone tried to tell daddy what to do, the person would probably be dead within a few minutes. Or seconds, depending on how strong they are..."
Kurama, Hiei and Hoto have been listening in on their conversation to see how well they'd get along. Kurama turns to the other two and says, "I think they'd do well together. All we have to do is wait for the otehrs to get here to announce their engagement." He turns to Hiei and adds, "Just make sure she doesn't find out Shain is going to be here. When he gets here, we need to make the announcement quickly before he can anger her. I can't really say he'll be safe if he does."
"A very select few WILL be safe if he does..." Hiei corrects.
Someone knocks on the door and Kurama answers it. The rest of the Rekai Tentai is there with their families. They come in and leave their preasants with the others before going into the living room with Natalie and Boushin.
When she sees Shain, Natalie's eyes narrow and she growls, "What the hell is HE doing here!"
Kurama interrupts her by standing and saying, "Thanks for coming you guys, but we have something to tell you all!" Natalie and Boushin both tilt their heads in curiousity, wondering what he could be saying. He smiles at them before continuing, "My daughter and Hotohori's son, Boushin, are engaged and will be married next spring!"
The only person not to lend their congradulations was Shain, who merely glared at Boushin, "What's so great about him? He looks like a little weakling to me."
"Hell of a lot better a choice than you are." Natalie retorts. "Now shut up before I personally, and quite literally, kick your ass out of this house." He stays silent for the rest of the day, growling occasionally about marriages. Later in the day Natalie opens her preasants, saving the ones from Boushin for last. As she looks through the different flowers she asks, "Who brought you shopping? Something tells me you couldn't come up with this message on your own."
"I don't even know what it says.... Nuriko had me out all day yesterday looking around."
She smiles and opens the necklace, putting it on and admiring the combination of the contrasting gold and silver, "This is beautiful. Thank you." When she opens the unicorn, her face breaks into a large smile, "Now I have a match for Uni, I suppose."
"Uni?" He asks perplexedly. "Who's Uni?"
"I'll show you later," She answers. "How did you choose this one in particular, though?"
"I don't know, it just sort of stood out."
She nods and looks a little deep in thought before saying, "Thank you for coming everyone! And thanks for the preasants, if I didn't already thank you enough."
The Seishi are the only guests to stay, and the others leave. Shain put up a small fight, but was knocked out by Natalie and thrown outside. Yusuke and Keiko apologize and take him home. When everyone else is gone, Natalie leads Boushin up to her room and flops backwards onto her bed, looking for something.
Not even a minute later, she sits back up holding a white unicorn with a lavender mane and tail, "This is Uni. Daddy gave her to me for Christmas when I was five. I like the story that goes behind me getting her as well. You see, daddy asked me what I wanted for preasants. I listed a bunch of art things and then I said I wanted a unicorn. According to dad, daddy looked all over the place to find a real unicorn before he finally pointed out that I hadn't said a live unicorn specifically. So he went and got this. For the longest time I carried her with me everywhere. Any pictures my parents have of me when I was little has me with this stuffed animal."
"Your father sounds like he cares a lot about you, but which one is 'dad' and which is 'daddy'? You refer to each as something different, I assume, but I have yet to figure out which is which."
"Daddy is Hiei, the black haired one, and dad is Kurama, the redhead. I call Hiei daddy because I have him wrapped far more than I do dad. If it were just me asking daddy to make the decision, I wouldn't have to learn all of this ningen stuff, I'd be able to train and work on gaining my tails instead."
"Gaining your tails? I'm sorry, you lost me again."
"The number of tails I have in my fox form signifies how powerful I am. Right now, I only have two, but I can gain up to nine, I think. I'm really close to getting my third tail, but I just need time to train in order to get it."
"That sounds interesting. How do you know how close you are to getting another tail?"
"You just do. It's weird, but you just have a feeling that tells you it'll happen soon. Anyway, I'm going to go train now, so I'll show you back down stairs and talk to you later," She says before leading him back to the main room and dashing out into the woods to find a demon to fight.

>>>>CHAPPIE DONE<<<<
&nbs p; Ok! The second chapter is done! Woot! Ok, I need a plot to go with this. I'm thinking of having Shain being a pain in the ass, but we'll see where my twisted mind leads us, shall we?
