Chapter Four

After Gannie was out of sight, Lana slowely sank to her knees, unable to stand any longer. "Kouji, go get some bandages and salve, those wounds need to be treated." Genrou said sharply, slowely walking up to Lana. Kouji nodded, and left, quickly returning with a pouch filled with healing supplies. Genrou was frustarated, Lana flately refused to let them touch her, and he could tell she was getting weaker. Finally, with a growl, he forced her flat on her back while Kouji cleaned and dressed the wounds on her arms and legs. Genrou looked at Kouji, a little embarassed at what he knew they had to do next. Lana eyes grew wide, and she began struggling, realizing they intended on treating the wounds on her chest now. "Look, we have no choice! Those are the worst ones!" Genrou snapped, knowing his words would need no explaination. Lana slowely stopped struggling, and said, "Could you knock me out while you do it?" Genrou looked at Kouji, who nodded, sat her up, and swiftly hit her in the back of the neck, knocking her out. Genrou took a deep breath, and as he and Kouji tended to her worst wounds, he thought, "Geez, this is why I hate women. Get their backs all up when you're just trying to help."

"This had better NOT be really happening." Kyle said with fire in his eyes, as the book desribed what was happening. "If I find out that this jerk is real, I'm gonna beat the life outta him."

Later, while Lana was resting, Kouji quietly asked Genrou what happened. "I accidently sent two wolves after her friend and another girl. The @%$#^* idiot took them both on so her friend wouldn't get hurt. Some friend though. The girl, 'Gannie', kept on screaming her name, like she had always expected she'd come and rescue her if she did, probably how she found me in the first place, and then just leaves her. Never even tried to help her while she was fighting me. Shimatte girl IS pretty strong though..." Genrou said with a grimace, rubbing the side of his head where Lana had pounded him. Kouji grinned, and said, "What? You're not impressed are you? Besides, you helped her, didn't you?" Genrou couldn't meet his friend's eyes. Kouji's eyes widened, and he quietly said, "You didn't?" Genrou growled, and turned, punching the wall.

"No, I didn't. I just froze up. Couldn't even move when the wolves were ripping her apart. Some 'man' I am, huh? Couldn't even help a girl when she was paying for MY mistake..." Genrou said, his eyes filling with tears as he remembered how she had screamed, and he had just stood there. He shook of Kouji, who had put a hand on his shoulder, and walked out of the building. "Going for a walk. Come get me when she wakes up." he growled, and took off. Kouji sighed, and walked back in, kneeling next to Lana. "Get well soon, I don't think Genrou will be the same if you don't..." He noted that the bandages on her torso needed to be changed, and removed them. He was about to put on new ones, when the cuts started shining silver. Kouji's eyes widened, and he backed away. He watched in amazement as the silver light shone brighter, and the wounds began closing up and healing, the color also coming back to her face. "Son of a..." was all he could say as the last cut closed, nothing left of the wounds but a thin white scar the shape of a lightning bolt on her shoulder. He quickly pulled a blanket over her, and ran out the front, yelling Genrou's name.
