Chapter 6. Visits
By Gator Ri
Gah! Sorry this took so long to get up everyone! You wouldn't believe The crap that has been happening that has kept me from writing. >.<;; Anyway here is the sixth chapter. Thank you for the reviews as well! Oh And I think there was someone who said that they didn't think that prison
Guards were that mean. Well, in actuality most are pricks and asssholes Just Like I have portrayed them although I am sure that there are those nice Ones out there too. I just know this from my father being in law enforcement. Okay now onto the chapter!!
He awoke to the sound of voices out side his door, blinking his good eye, he tries to focus on two figures, as they come in, the dream that he had been having disappearing like a mist, he tried to snatch it back. It had been a nice dream, that much he knew, but what about it, that he could not remember.
He blinked again, the figures finally coming into focus, the one had dark blue hair and a smirk on his face, making the scar that ran on the left side glint slightly in the soft light of the room. From where he lay on the bed Houjun couldn't quite see the other man that was behind the dark headed one, that is until they stopped at the end of his bed. He shook his head slightly as a feeling of familiarity crossed his mind for a brief moment before it, like the dream, dissipated into thin air. He looked at the red head again, watching him shift rather nervously from foot to foot, waiting.
Getting a slight jab from Kouji, Genrou finally became his usual loud and obnoxious self, "Hey, there! We jus' wanted ta see how you was doin' an' all."
Houjun nodded his head slightly, a neutral look on his face, "I see," his voice was neither friendly nor unfriendly, with a rather flat tone to it. He took in a shallow breath, his ribs hurting if he did other wise, "Are you sure that you didn't come to gawk? Or throw insults?" this time his voice held bitterness, the pain in it masked well.
Genrou's look hardened, "Now, why n' the hell would I do that?" there was some irritation in his voice, "After all we did help you out last night. You could be a little more grateful ya know," he would've said more but the look that he got from Kouji quickly silenced him.
Houjun just shrugged his thin shoulders, causing a slight twinge of pain, "Maybe it would've been wiser if you would've left me where you found me." He now shrugged the feeling of familiarity off, figuring it was just from last night.
Kouji finally spoke up, "Yeah, well we jus' aren' that mean. Besides, it would've been lonely down there if ya hadn' a been found."
Houjun snorted slightly, "Hardly, there is always the pain," he then looked away from them, putting his concentration on the window, where he could see little of the outside world.
Genrou and Kouji looked at each other neither of them knowing what to say.
A uncomfortable few minutes of silence slid past before Genrou tried a different approach, "So, uh…it looks like they got ya patched up purty good."
Houjun just snorted softly in response, keeping his gaze fixed on the window.
Kouji gave it another try, "Well, at least ya get waited on hand n' foot."
Again Houjun just snorted, none of this mattered to him one bit.
And again the two boys looked at each other helplessly. They were about to try again, after all third time is a charm right?, when a nurse came in shoeing them out, "It's time for his x-rays, you can come back later to visit him."
Kouji and Genrou nodded and said good bye, before awkwardly leaving the room.
Once out in the hall Kouji looked at his lover as they walked, "Not very friendly is he."
Genrou grunted, "You wouldn' be either if ya had been through what he has."
Kouji stopped mouth-hanging open, ""Yer stickin' up fer him?"
The red head glared back at the darker boy, "I jus' have feelin' that he could be very nice it's jus' that he's been through a lot. An' I think he's innocen'." He punched the elevator button as they reached it, frowning with fangs sticking out. That damned feeling of him knowing the injured boy just wouldn't go away.

It was late afternoon by the time Houjun was finally returned to his room to find Jean and his partner Leon waiting for him there, the turned and gave him a smile, "So how are they treating you?"
Houjun gave a soft shrug, "Alright, I guess."
The escorts that had brought him back looked at the two paramedics, "Would you mind stepping out into the hall for a bit? There are a few things that we must attend to first before he is free to visit."
Jean and Leon nodded their heads as they gave Houjun a wave before stepping out into the hall to wait.
Houjun looked at the two a bit confused, they weren't certified how could they do anything? It was then that a different RN came in with a bright smile on her young face that was framed by long black bangs, "Good evening," she acknowledged her patient before turning to the escorts, "Why have we not got him back in his bed?"
They looked at each other, "Because we had to get a couple of people out of here." Then grabbing the sheet that Houjun was laying on they carefully picked him up and put him on his bed, getting him comfortable by moving this and that.
"Okay that is good, now shoo, I have work to do and I am sure that you do as well," the nurse said as the two took the mobile bed and went out of the room. Once they were gone the young nurse sighed and then looked back at Houjun whom was now sporting a plastic cast on his arm to keep him from bending it overly much.
"Well, I am glad to see that your arm isn't overly injured, young man," she said in a friendly tone as she drew the curtains around his bed, "Twould be terrible with the other injuries that you have."
She turned and looked him with a soft smile, "Well, now why don't we get started, ne? For there is work to be done to help you recover, there is at that."
"What's your name?" came the voice of her charge, making her stop and give him a sheepish grin, "Mary, and no I am not contrary," she gave him a wink before pulling on some latex gloves and going bending over a tray that he had not noticed was there.

Kiyan yawned tiredly as she finally drove into the hospital's parking lot, it had been one long day but she was going to keep her promise to herself and visit Houjun, she was sure that he could use a friendly face even though she knew he didn't think so.
Shutting the car off as she parked it she stepped out and shut the door, making sure it was locked, the last thing that she needed was to have her patrol car stolen because of her own negligence.
After giving a stretch and a yawn she went on her way towards the hospital. After walking through the doors in the lobby she went over to the desk that had a nice looking old woman sitting behind it. Flashing the woman a smile as she walked up to it she asked, "Could I please have the room number for a Li Houjun?"
The old woman smiled and gave a nod of her silver hair, "You sure may officer," turing she typed in Houjun's name and waited for it to come up with the number for his room. When it did she wrote it down and hand Kiyan the paper, "There you go and it's nice to see a lady on the force."
Kiyan gave a grateful smile, "Thank you on both accounts," turning she looked at the paper and headed for the nearest elevator that would take her to the fourth floor. As she waited for the elevator she chewed on her lip feeling rather nervous about going and seeing the young man, for she really didn't know him and he probably wouldn't even appreciate her visit any way. She frowned and shook her head as the doors at last opened and she stepped on pushing the button for the fourth floor.
As it stopped at her destination she took another deep breath to help still the butterflies in her stomach. Then stepping out she looked at the paper again and made her way to room twenty-three. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she saw two men standing out side the room, besides the guard.
They turned and looked at her as she came up, "Hello," she started.
"Hi," the shorter man with brown hair smiled at her, "are you here to see, Houjun?" at her nod he continued, 'Well, it'll be a few minutes because the nurse has some things she has to take care of. In the mean time, I'm Jean and this tall dark one," he jabbed his thumb in Leon's direction, "Is my partner Leon."
Leon gave a smiled and waved, "Hello, officer," he squinted his gray eyes, "Kiyan."
She tilted her head, "How…." She started in confusion and then chuckled, "Nice to meet you too. I see that you can read," she grinned teasingly.
The other two chuckled lightly, "So," she started, "How do know him?"
Jean's smile disappeared, "We were the ones to bring him in last night after the wreck and seeing as how we really had nothing better to do we thought that we would come and torture him some more," the grinned a bit. "Actually we told him that we would come and see how he's doing. He was in a pretty bad way last night."
She raised a golden brow, "Yeah, I saw it on TV so I thought I would come and see him."
Leon looked at her a bit oddly, "How do you fit into this? Were you his escort during his trial?"
She shook her head, "No, I just escorted him the prison in Feling and feel bad for him," she explained, "Anyway, what did happen last night to cause the wreck. I didn't hear much of what was being said."
"Well, as far as we could tell was that the two guards that we found in the back of the bus were checking on the prisoners when the driver had a heart attack causing the bus to go out of control and rolling over a railing then down an incline. It was pretty messy. The police haven't gotten around to questioning yet, I don't think. Most of the prisoners escaped as I understand it."
Her mouth moved into a thin line, "That is not a good thing to have happen, it's hard to summarize it."
Jean nodded his head, "Yeah, just be glad that you didn't have to help with the clean up."
They then looked towards the room's door as it opened and Mary stepped out, "Okay, you may go in and see him now, everything is all set."
Kiyan felt the butterflies stretch out their wings again, making her frown slightly she had hoped that they had went away when she started talking to the two paramedics. She looked at the men, "Mind if I go in first?" At the shake of their heads she steps forward, fearing that she would be told to go.
He sighed, yes this was definitely worse than jail had been, having needs and tubes shoved in you and no privacy at all. It was violation of the person is how he thought of it. He then looked up with a deep scowl as he heard footsteps come into the room and then…he blinked….softly smiled as he recognized who it was, "Hello," he said in an almost friendly tone.
Kiyan couldn't believe it he was almost being friendly, but she could still read his tenseness and untrust there but she smiled anyway as the butterflies fluttered away, "Hello, Houjun. How are you doing?"
He gave a soft shrug, that was less painful than it had been, "I dunno."
Her smile dimmed a bit as she could hear the coldness creep back into his voice, it was then that she was happy for Jean and Leon coming into the room and calling their hellos at which Houjun received them the same as he did her.
---------------------------------------------------------------
His mind buzzed, as the people finally left, *Why….why did they come? Didn't they hate him for what he did?* He then looked tiredly over at Mary as she came in and administered him his shot of morphine.
She gave him a soft smile, "Looks like the visit was a little taxing on you. Well, you get some rest now so that way you can start healing up," with that she turned and left the room, his eyes closing before she had even completing disappearing.
Yes he was tired but it was a good tired, and he didn't feel quite as troubled but the uneasiness was still there. It would always be there.
