CHAPTER 3

"NOOOOOO! TAKA!" Miaka cried as Taka's head slumped against the soft carpet. The black light faded, leaving the room dark. "NO! PLEASE! TAKA!"

Yui pulled Miaka back from Taka's unconscious body. "Miaka, Stop! It won't help!"

Miaka pushed Yui aside and set Taka's head in her lap. "Taka! Please say something!" She shook him a little bit and he moaned but didn't wake up. "Oh…" Sighed Miaka, very relieved, "You guys, he's alive."

With the help of Keisuke and Yui, they had lifted Taka's body onto the bed.

"Let's go in there and let him rest." Said Tetsuya, who was leaning back against the wall, looking very shaken.

Miaka didn't feel very much like leaving his side, but they convinced her that it was for the best. Taka was probably very worn out.

As they left the room, Miaka took Yui by the shoulders and faced her. "I should've told you that Taka has had an attack like that before. I should've told you! Now look at what I've done! He could be dead! She began to cry, but did really feel aware of what she was doing.

Yui pulled Miaka close to her and stroked the back of her head. "Shhh. Don't worry Miaka. You didn't know any better." She rocked Miaka back and forth as she cried like she would never stop.

"Why is this happening all over again? I don't understand it at all! Taka and I finally get some time to ourselves, and what happens? He starts having visions not even a day later. It's not fair! And now that Suzaku's sealed away, I can't use my powers! Then why does Taka's symbol glow?! I don't under-"

"Miaka! Calm down! You've got to stop acting like this! Do you think Taka would like it if he knew that you were doing this?"

This seemed to hit Miaka more than anything else did. She knew Taka would be very worried about her if she had done something like this around him.

"We can get through this together!" Yui assured Miaka with worry in her eyes. "I know we can get through this if we just stick together!" Yui had a pleading look in her eyes and looked about ready to cry herself.

Miaka stopped crying and hugged her best friend. "I'm sorry, Yui, for acting this way. I'll stop. I just don't know what to do! I love Taka so much. I love him more than anything. More than mother, more than Keisuke."

Yui understood where Miaka was coming from. She felt sympathy for her but she knew that there was nothing she could say or do to make her feel any better.

"I want to go see him." Miaka said quietly to Yui. Yui nodded and released her from the hug.

Miaka walked back into the room to find Taka with his hands at his sides, lying in a strait position. His mouth was opened slightly, so when he exhaled, he made a whooshing sound.

Miaka smiled but at the same time her eyes welled up with tears. She wiped them away and sat down on her knees next to Taka. "Taka…" She said, trying to swallow the lump in her throat. "Taka, I wish you could say something to me." Taka breathed in and out, but didn't utter a word. "I love you so much." She said, picking up his hand and holding it to her face with her eyes closed. "I wish that you were awake to tell me that everything is going to be okay."

Then something remarkable happened. Taka's hand twitched and caressed Miaka's face. Taka seemed to be having great difficulty in accomplishing this rather small task. "Mi…aka." He said with trouble. His eyes were still closed but Miaka was just relieved to hear his voice.

Miaka kissed his hand and interlocked it with her own. She smiled with tears in her eyes again. "I'll stay with you." She told him, not sure whether he could hear her or not. She put her head down on his arm and closed her eyes. She fell asleep like this and when she woke up about an hour later, she found that she had a very intense pain in her neck.

She sat up for a moment. "Ow…" She said quietly as she rubbed the sore spot in her neck. She continued to grasp Taka's hand with her own.

Taka's face moved a little bit, but nothing else happened. Miaka sighed and rest her head on his arm once more-only this time, she didn't fall asleep.

The door to the bedroom opened slightly. Yui poked her head inside. "Miaka? Do you want to come out now?" Her face was full of concern but Miaka could see that she was trying to hide it.

Miaka shook her head. "No, Yui." She said, glancing over at Taka. "I think I want to stay with him a little longer." She looked over at Taka once more, but didn't return the glance back to Yui.

Yui left without saying anything to her. She knew that Miaka just wanted to be alone with Taka-to make sure he had no more attacks.

Occasionally, one of the three would come in and check on her and Taka, each one with their own worry about them. All of them tried to coax her into coming back into the living room with them, but each time one of the made an offer, Miaka refused to leave Taka's side.

Late that night, Miaka was stirred awake. She looked around and realized she had fallen asleep next to Taka again. Someone had turned off the light to her bedroom. She shivered she got up and flicked on the light switch, sensing something was wrong.

She didn't know what it was, but something was definitely wrong. Taka was in the same flat position, breathing in and out somewhat noisily.

Miaka wandered over to the window to see the usual city. There was nothing strange about it. Then what's bothering me? Miaka thought.

She froze. She began to tremble all over as she realized that her window was open.

"Oh, nooooo." She moaned before rushing over to the window and shutting in tightly. She knew that Yui, Tetsuya, and Keisuke wouldn't have done that. It was very cold outside. She was nearly ten stories off of the ground in her building, so who would go through the trouble to climb up and break in?

She sat down in her chair in the corner, very scared. "Who opened the window?" She said aloud, getting more nervous by the moment.

A shiver ran through her body once more and her teeth clicked together as she rubbed her hands together to make some heat.

Taka twitched suddenly, letting out a quick groan. Then, one of the most horrifying things Miaka had ever seen began to take place-

Taka sat up and opened his eyes, only it wasn't Taka. His eyes were completely red now, including the white part. Then he began to speak-

"Soon it will take place. Evil can no longer be stopped. The seal on Marushai has been broken. The task will be accomplished. Earth will be consumed."

DUN DUN DAH!!!!!!!! Uh oh, now what? Well here we go again, more evil to deal with. Keep reading if you want to find out what happens!
