Sunrise Reminiscing

.Chapter 1. Good Bye

By: Gator Ri

I looked around my neat and tidy room, my gaze coming to rest on the neatly stacked boxes that held what I would need for my third year of college.

Running a hand through my long light blue hair I quickly pulled it back into a ponytail to keep it out of my face. Then walking over to the stack of boxes I picked up the first one and made my way out of my room, down the hall and out to y little blue pick up.

As I slid the box into the back, I looked up to see my little brother and sister watching me with large eyes. I gave them a soft and reassuring smile before I made another trip back into my bed for more boxes.

I still had a good week and a half before classes started but I wanted to get settled in my room before my new roommate arrived. I frowned at the thought, they had roomed me with a first year student.

I slid the last box in and shut the tailgate with a frown still on my face. Wiping the sweat from my brow I stuck a few loose strand of hair behind my ear as I pulled at my T-shirt, it having clung to me slightly. It definitely was a warm day.

"All set?"

I jumped slightly at the sound of my gather's voice as I looked at him, my mother, and little brother and sister standing in the drive. I nodded my head, "I am."

"You can't leave yet though."

I blinked my chocolate brown eyes at him, "Why?"

"You need to give your mother a hug," he smiled.

I smiled at him and walked forward letting my mother pull me into a hug.

"You be good now," she said.

"I will, don't worry, mother," I smiled at her as I pulled away and bent down to capture my little sister into a hug, "You help mother now."

She nodded her head at me.

Then turning to my brother I ruffled his hair, "And you behave," he gave me a wink which made me chuckle slightly. Finally I shook my father's hand.

"Study hard, son."

I nodded my head as I turned and walked to my truck. As I climbed in I sighed in relief glad to be getting away from home.

Once settled in my truck, with seat belt in place, I turned the key and the engine roared to life.

Putting it in reverse I backed down the driveway and into the road. Then with one last wave at my suburban home and family I turned forward with out looking back.
