Chapter 2: Difficult

Tasuki dressed as slowly as humanly possible, both afraid and worried that the conversation he was about to have with Chichiri would change things for them… but not for the better.

Kouji stood leaning on the wall—the wall that he had taken Tasuki against-- wearing nothing but the buff colored breeches he had shed earlier. “Just get yer ass out there, damnit. He ain't gonna bite ya, not `less ya ask `im to I'm sure.”

Tasuki shot a glare over his shoulder at his friend, “Fuck you asshole! I'm nervous! What if'n he hates me?”

Kouji snorted, “Baka, I already fucked you, there ain't no switchin' roles here. I don't get fucked, I do th' fuckin'-- as you c'n tell.” He joked, flashing a shit-eating grin at the growling bandit. “He ain't gonna hate ya, Chichiri's too nice a guy fer that. He may not look ya in th' eye after ya yap at `im but he won't hate ya.”

Tasuki groaned and shrugged into his purple tunic, belting it on with practiced ease. As he moved to the door he shot a glare over his shoulder, “I coulda fucked ya, but I didn't wanna get my cock dirty. See ya fucker.”

A shout of laughter followed him out the door and he grinned as he made his way to the chambers he had assigned Chichiri.

He paused outside the door, fear and apprehension filled him but he shoved it roughly away and lifted his hand and knocked, calling to the monk within.

“Go away, Tasuki. I need to sleep, no da.”

Tasuki frowned at the abrupt dismissal and pressed his ear to the door. The sounds of hitched breath and a sobbing groan reached his ears causing his heart to clench and he growled, inching the door open.

He stood in shocked silence for a moment, watching his friend's shoulders shake with sobs, before swinging the door back on its hinges and striding into the room.

Chichiri yelped, pulling a blanket over himself and rolling to face the wall. “Tasuki, no da! I asked you to leave!” His face glistened with shed tears.

Tasuki boldly sat down on the bed beside the crying monk and sighed. “Chiri, I gotta tell ya somethin'. Ya may hate me fer it but I still gotta say it.” He paused to build his courage a moment but, when Chichiri rolled back over to face him, his breath caught in his throat and his courage fled.

“Tell me what, Tasuki-kun, no da?” Chichiri prompted, tears having been scrubbed away to leave his face slightly red.

Shaking his head and standing, Tasuki blushed. “What ya saw, with Kouji I mean… well, ya see…” he trailed off with a sigh and sat back down. “That doesn't happen usually… I mean… shit. Arright, I'm in love with… someone, but I don't think they love me back. I mean, I know they like me as a person, but they're all pure an' sweet an' would die of shame if'n they knew I loved `em.” He stood again and began pacing back and forth before the monk's confused stare.

“I was desperate fer some… attention, Kouji was nice enough t'help me out. I ain't got nothin' goin' on with Kouji, well I'm not gonna do that shit again anyway.”

Chichiri's brow wrinkled cutely and he opened his mouth to ask something but closed it again and shook his head, “Who is it, no da?”

Tasuki shook his head and gave him a sad little smile, “Don't worry about it, `Chiri. I'm never gonna have `em anyway, might as well just live with it, ne?” With that he turned and walked to the door.

“Tasuki, who is it? I may be able to talk to them and see if they would be receptive to your attentions, no da.” Chichiri's voice was quiet and soft, but the pain in his heart that had come at finding out that Tasuki was in love with someone clenched when he had made the offer. He loved Tasuki and if he had to watch his friend with someone else it would be terribly hurtful for him, but seeing Tasuki happy would ease some of the hurt.

Tasuki froze half in and half out the door. Chichiri sounded hurt, almost longing and Tasuki knew he couldn't keep the whole truth from him, even if it cost him the monk's friendship. “Ya couldn't talk `em into it, Chiri.” He said as he slowly turned his head towards the monk still huddling on the small cot. “It's you, Chiri, an' I could never be good enough fer ya.”

He stepped out and closed the door firmly behind him with a sigh. He'd done it, killed whatever friendship he'd had with the monk and now all he could do was avoid him as much as possible.

He was shocked, to say the least. Tasuki had said that the one he loved was him but couldn't let himself because he felt as if he wasn't good enough. Chichiri sighed and swung his legs over the edge of the bed, intent on finding Tasuki and confessing his heart.

He pulled on his pants and tied the braided cords that held them closed as he walked over to the door, pulling it open he found Kouji standing just on the other side with his hand raised to knock. “Kouji-san, no da, can I help you?”

Kouji poked his head through the door and looked around for a moment, his expression curiously blank. “He ain't here.”

Chichiri frowned and stepped back, gesturing for the bandit to come in. “Who's not here, no da?”

Kouji stepped into the room and closed the door, “Genrou. He was supposed t'come an' tell ya that it's yer fault he hadda come an' talk me inta fuckin' him.” He grinned at the astounded expression on Chichiri's face, “Said that somethin' happened at a hot spring an' he couldn't get himself off no more, no matter how many different fantasies he dreamed up about ya touchin' him he just couldn't get off. Said he was nothin' but walkin' blue balls by th' time ya's got here. Said he needed me t'fuck `im just t'get some relief.”

Chichiri was speechless, he never knew that Tasuki had had such a strong reaction to him.

Kouji's grin turned sly, “So, just what didja do t'him t'get that reaction? Never heard of a man not bein' able t'get himself off a'fore. Ya let him catch ya jerkin' off er' somethin'?”

Chichiri blushed and shook his head, moving to the doorway. “I've got to find him, no da. Tell him that… I feel th' same way.”

Kouji's grin died away, “Ya can't. He just left. Told me t'chat ya up while he lit outta here.”

Chichiri's head snapped up and his eye widened. “He's…” he strode over to his things and snatched up his kasa, kesa, and shakajou. “How could you let him leave!”

He spread the kesa out on the floor and stepped on, his shakajou coming down with a loud jangle as the robe flared bright white and Chichiri sunk through it.

“Good luck, Chichiri. Y'll need it t'talk Genrou inta coming back.”

Tasuki was dodging past trees and bushes as he raced to his private retreat. He needed time to drink the shocked surprise he had seen in Chichiri's face out of his head and the only place he could do that was his retreat. Chichiri didn't know where it was and so couldn't show up at the door and call him a pervert and tell Tasuki to stay away from him.

If he chose to come at all, Tasuki was pretty sure he wouldn't.

That though had o more than passed through his head and his cabin come in to sight when something plastered him face first into the ground.

“Sonofabitch!” He grumbled as he lifted his face from the dirt path.

“Tasuki-kun, no da!”

His eyes went wide and he froze in place. Surely Chichiri wasn't what had knocked him to the ground! He turned his head and was met with Chichiri's face not two inches from his own and he quickly turned away.

“Get off, please.” He knew what was coming, Chichiri would tell him to never come near him again and perhaps hit him over the head with his staff. “I'll never come near ya again, just go. I won't follow ya. I'm sorry fer bein' a pervert an' breakin' yer trust. Just get off an' leave-“

His words were cut off as the weight lifted from his back and he was forcefully turned over to stare up at the almost livid face of his friend. “Just shut the hell up, Tasuki, no da! I never said the first word about leaving!” Chichiri grabbed Tasuki's chin when he turned away, pulling his face back to his. “You haven't broken my trust, damn it! I love you, Tasuki. Why in the world would I want you to leave me, no da?”

Tasuki's eyes widened even further as the monk leaned down and crushed his lips in a sweltering kiss.
