Fushigi Yuugi Fan Fiction ❯ The Look In Your Eyes ❯ The Look In Your Eyes ( One-Shot )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Tamahome left Miaka and Nuriko behind, sure they would tell Hotohori-sama and Chichiri what had happened when they went to get his family to the city... He clenched his fists as he walked up the ramp, meeting Tasuki's grinning face the moment he stepped on board.
"Oho Tama! You look kinda worn out!" The fanged young man said, and nudged him with his elbow. "Hope you didn't have TOO much fun while you were away!"
This was too much for Tamahome to bear right now. He clenched his fists. Lilac eyes glittering evilly, he grinned, just like their normal teasing as he lunged forward and grabbed Tasuki, running to the railing, just like he did since the moment Hotohori had said that this ship belonged to them. Well, to Suzaku no Miko and the Suzaku Seishi.
"How about a little swim, Tasuki, huh?"
"YAMETE!!! PLEASE!!!"
"You like that? Huh? Huh?!"
"Tama!!"
Tamahome grinned. Tasuki distracted him from his thoughts and this oafishness was what he needed right now. He didn't want to think about how he found his brothers and sister, slaughtered like animals... He shook his head and pulled Tasuki back on the ship, who hit him with his tessen.
"Teme! Why did you do that? Just because Miaka dumped you? Hu?!"
Tamahome growled and lunged on Tasuki, grabbing the bandit's collar and shook him.
"Baka! She didn't dump me!"
"Oh yes she did!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
Mitsukake, who just stepped on the deck of the big ship, shook his head, while Tama-chan mewled and sat down on his broad shoulder. The tall man shook his head and went down to help the others, carrying their baggage on board, leaving Tamahome and Tasuki alone, fighting.
"Rekka Shinnen!"
Everyone who heard Tasuki's warrior yell sighed. They'd have a very fried Tamahome tonight again... and a very beat up Tasuki.
"TEME!!"
Tamahome lunged forward, tackling Tasuki to the ground, but was rolled around just a few moments later. They left a black trail of soot behind them, yelling, scratching and strangling the other while they didn't pay the slightest bit of attention to where they went. Just as they fell down a staircase they stopped fighting and clung to each other to avoid getting hurt. But as they reached the bottom of the stairs they continued their fight.
"I'm gonna pay you back for every bone you broke me," Tasuki growled as he swung his fist and aimed for Tamahome's face. Tamahome dodged his swing though and landed a punch on Tasuki's chest which made the fire-head dizzy for the second that the dark-haired seishi needed to whirl them both around, landing on his thighs and pinning the other to the floor.
"I wanna see that," he said with a smirk, crossing his arms over his chest. Tasuki wiggled, trying to get free but he couldn't move one inch. He tried to get his tessen, but that was on his back and he was lying on that. So he had only his fists to defend himself. He raised his fist, aiming at Tama's chin when he noticed that the other man was awfully quiet on top of him. He blinked and looked up, trying to get Tamahome's expression. His eyes widened in shock as he saw tears running down his face.
"T-Tama..."
Tamahome's shoulders started shaking and he sobbed loudly.
"Yuiren... Gyokuran... Shunkei... father..."
He cried openly now, making Tasuki wonder why. He know it had been nagging on him that Tama's family didn't come to say goodbye to him but he didn't really pay great attention to it yet since he thought they were just busy.
"Tama..."
"Why? Why me? Why them?" Tamahome wailed. "Why did he kill them? If he wanted to kill somebody in revenge for his brother, why didn't he kill me? Why them? They were innocent children!"
"Tama."
"And I am not allowed to touch Miaka! How can they do this to me? This is not FAIR!"
Tamahome cried even more after he yelled his pain out, wailing a "Miaka" from time to time. Tasuki just lay there underneath him, not knowing what to do or say. It came through his thick skull that something bad had happened to his family, that somebody killed his brothers and sister. He felt sorry for Tamahome, he even tried to understand the pain he was feeling but knew he wasn't able to. Before hot tears of sympathy could fill his own eyes he leaned up on his elbows and smirked.
"You are worse than a woman."
He tried to sit up, bringing himself awfully close to Tamahome's face. He blinked, his hand raising up to touch Tamahome's cheek, to wipe the tears away and... he didn't want to think about what else came to his mind as he was closer than he wanted to be to Tamahome... at least in real life.
His finger stopped less than an inch away from Tama's tear-stained cheek before a lilac glare hit him and he jerked his hand back, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly, grinning. He knew he had to say something and that's what he did.
"Miaka is a nice girl. She sure has her reasons for dumping you. Dun think she wants somebody else than you tho," Tasuki added mumbling, looking away, since he didn't want to meet those eyes. He didn't like to see the hurt and the pain in those eyes. Eyes that were either laughing or showing so much strength that it made Tasuki shudder sometimes. He really didn't want to see pain in them.
Tamahome blinked at what Tasuki said to him. He really didn't expect such a reaction of showing sympathy and an attempt of cheering him up. But he was grateful for it. Tamahome really didn't expect that Tasuki would be a friend for him in these times.
A smile crept onto his lips as he wiped his tears away.
"Thank you."
Tasuki turned to look into Tama's eyes. They were not showing pain anymore, only gratefulness. He didn't know what had made the pain go away but he grinned widely and patted the man sitting on his legs playfully on the shoulder.
"Ne, Tama, you look like a pansy with those tears on your cheek."
"You!"
Tamahome lunged forward again, grabbing Tasuki's wrists and pinned them down on the planks next to his fire-colored head. He glared down, inching closer, almost too close for his own taste. Not many people existed that had been this close to his face and it was only to get a kiss from him. He leaned closer though, wanting to kiss somebody, even if it was just one of his friends. But the look in Tasuki's eyes made him wonder if they were "just friends". He saw fear, yes, but something else, too in those eyes that looked so much like the treasures their owner liked to wear so much. And this something made him get up quickly and turn away, because he knew it was showing in his eyes, too.
"I... I'm sorry," the blue-haired man mumbled before he went away.
Tasuki picked himself off the ground and batted the dirt from his clothes, looking at Tama's retreating back with a sad smirk.
"Yeah... Me, too..."
He stretched and went away in the other direction, not wanting to look into Tama's eyes again soon. What he saw today was almost too much of a change of emotions he could handle. It was an exhausting roller coaster ride.
