Chapter 8: Prim and Proper
Damn. Someone remind me, why am I up at this ungodly hour?
Gojyo shuffled his way into the kitchen, yawning loudly, mind still hazy from sleep. He parked himself next to the coffee machine, refusing to take one more step until he had a cup of that steaming, bitter elixir in his hands. He blinked sleepily, uncaring as his eyes slid shut once again of their own volition.
“You’re going to end up wearing the coffee if you don’t snap out of it.”
“Huh?” Gojyo jerked awake, forcing his eyes to stay open. Hakkai was standing before him with a cup of coffee outstretched in one hand - his eyes glittering with suppressed laughter.
“Oh man, I love you, Kai.”
The green-eyed man laughed, handing the cup over, “Now now, what will Sanzo think?”
The liquid Gojyo had just downed caught in his throat and he sputtered furiously, “Dammit Hakkai, you’ve gotta stop doing that!”
“At least now you’re awake.”
Gojyo snorted moving to sit at the table. The biting comment he’d been about to make died on his lips as his friend took the seat across from him, looking far more somber than was his habit. He took another long swig of his coffee before setting it down and giving the other man his full attention. “Alright, stop delaying and just tell me - what’d I do now?”
That got a small quirk of the lips and Hakkai gave a rueful shake of his head, “Am I that transparent?”
Gojyo sighed, “Not really, but we have been living together for a while and we’ve known each other for even longer than that.”
“I suppose you’re right. If there’s anyone who would know me, it’d be you.” The brunette took a deep breath and stilled his fingers, fighting the urge to fidget, “I know it’s really none of my business, Gojyo,” Hakkai began, glancing up, waiting to see if Gojyo would interrupt - relieved when he didn’t. “but, I would still like to know what your intentions are toward Sanzo.”
The redhead’s jaw dropped.
“As I said,” Hakkai rushed to explain, “I realize you probably think it’s no concern of mine, however-” The green-eyed man came to an abrupt halt when he registered the other man’s shaking shoulders. “Gojyo . . . ?” Hakkai venture tentatively.
The redhead’s chuckling gave way to a full-blown laugh. “Sorry . . . oh man . . . sorry, Kai - it’s just, you sound exactly like some concerned parent grilling their daughter’s prospective suitor.”
The green-eyed man’s lips twitched, “Yes, I suppose I do. Forgive me, Gojyo. It’s just that-” he ground to a stop when the redhead shook his head and held up a hand for his silence.
“I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not just using him,” Gojyo frowned, considering, “well, maybe I am using him, but it’s more of a mutual using. He’s been repressed for who-knows-how-many years, and I need to work this bug out of my system. It‘s mutually beneficial.”
The concern in jade eyes only grew, “I’m not so much afraid of you using Sanzo, Gojyo, I know you’re not so callous. My concern is that -”
“Am I the new morning gossip between you two?” came a clipped voice from the doorway.
Gojyo barely managed not to drop his coffee in shock, Hakkai merely smiled serenely.
“Good morning, Sanzo. And no, you can relax - this will be the extent of my meddling.”
“Hmph.”
That’s right! That’s the reason I got up early. The monk has early classes today and I wanted to send him off with one hell of a smooch.
Gojyo cleared his throat and Hakkai got the hint, “Well, I suppose it’s time for me to get going. I have classes today as well. See you both later.”
The blonde rolled his eyes and moved to take Hakkai’s vacated seat. He didn’t so much as glance at the squirming redhead before pulling out his glasses and unfolding the newspaper at his elbow.
Gojyo all but squawked with indignation. “Hey!”
The paper slowly lowered and a blonde eyebrow rose, “Something you wanted, kappa?”
“Where the hell’s my morning kiss!?”
The second blonde eyebrow rose to meet the first. “It’s not my fault Hakkai skipped out on you.”
Gojyo chocked for a second.
“Ha ha. Very funny.” The redhead stood and strode over to the coffee machine for a refill, grumbling all the way.
He heard a sigh and the scrape of a chair behind him but refused to turn.
“Damn you! Stop acting all hurt and just kiss me!” the blonde growled.
Gojyo ignored him and reached out to pour himself another cup of coffee.
He jumped a little at the arms that came around him.
“I’m waiting, Gojyo.” Breath feathered across his back and the taller man purred feeling the warmth through his thin shirt. He leaned back the slightest bit into slim but powerful arms, smiling when he felt the blonde nuzzle into him. “Am I going to have to convince you?”
“Maybe. How would you do it?“ Gojyo asked - voice gone husky. He stopped breathing as the blonde ran teasing hands over his chest - not quite touching but leaving an imprint of their warmth behind nonetheless. He bit his lip when those graceful hands ran down and glided over his abs - tracing each ridge of muscle, making his stomach clench in anticipation. Those resourceful fingers tortured his midsection for a few seconds more before dropping even lower and brushing suggestively against the top button of his pants. “We can’t, beautiful, not here,” he murmured setting his hands over the monk’s. The blonde growled in protest and threw off the redhead’s hands, sliding the button of Gojyo’s jeans from its loop. He carefully reached forward and slid the zipper down, worming his hand into the jeans.
“Sanzo!” the redhead yelped, scandalized. “We’re in the kitchen!”
“So?”
Gojyo groaned as nimble fingers closed around his rapidly hardening cock and gave a few practiced jerks, nearly bringing the redhead to his knees. Shit! I can’t just be imagining this - my body has never responded this powerfully to anyone before. But why? I’ve had women who were just as beautiful and far more experienced than this waif. Why can he practically drive me to my knees with a single touch?
The redhead growled and spun around, grabbing hold of the blonde’s hands and pulling them out of his pants. He kissed each palm before yanking the other man close, “You‘re having way too much fun turning me into putty, now I’ll have to even the score,” he drawled, closing the distance between their lips. He saw golden eyelashes flutter closed, felt Sanzo lean into his hold, lips parted - and he could practically already taste the dewy sweetness of Sanzo’s-
“Whoa! Sorry, I forgot!”
Gojyo’s head jerked up and he groaned, seeing the monkey at the kitchen entrance. Golden eyes seemed riveted on Sanzo and it took a minute before the redhead realized the monk was stiff as a board in his arms and his eyes were downcast. Strange, I would have thought His Holiness would be yelling bloody murder and would have scuttled out of the room by now. But the blonde wasn’t jumping out of Gojyo’s arms, in fact he hadn’t moved at all.
“What the hell are you starring at, Chimp?” Gojyo asked gruffly, pulling the monk closer. He glared at the boy, daring him to make some stupid comment.
“Oh . . . ah . . . nothing- just.” Goku waved helplessly in Sanzo’s direction and Gojyo got the picture. It was the first time Goku was seeing Sanzo be so ‘friendly’ with someone. If the blonde smacked the monkey whenever he got too close and he wasn’t physically affectionate with his master, Gojyo could understand the kid’s shock.
Gojyo snorted, “Well? What’d you forget? Whatever it was, make it quick.”
Goku looked confused for a minute before smiling widely, “No, I meant that I forgot that Hakkai warned me to make a lot of noise before going into any room. He said you two might be ‘going at it.’”
Gojyo couldn’t help laughing as he watched the monk turn three different shades of red - even the blonde’s ears turned a nice rosy color.
“Well, Goku, as you can see, we are ‘going at it,’” he replied, wincing when he felt the monk‘s pointy elbow jab into his side, “So why don’t you go find something to do?”
Golden eyes widened in dismay, “But I’m hungry! I’ve been dreaming of steamed buns all night.”
Sanzo’s fist clenched and he reached into his robe bringing out the fan, “You’d better grab something and go now, monkey!”
“Alright! I’ll get out of the way real quick.”
It wasn’t long before the little chimp’s arms were laden with food and he sped out of the kitchen with one last grin at the monk.
“You know Sanzo,” Gojyo began, not sure if this was a safe topic, “I’m surprised you didn’t leap out of my arms like I was on fire when the monkey showed up. Wouldn’t have thought you’d want him to know.”
The blonde snorted and turned to face piercing crimson, “Idiot, did you forget your pants were unbuttoned? If I’d moved away he would have seen that.”
Gojyo flushed darkly, having forgotten his state of undress. He quickly tucked himself back in and zipped up, making his way to the table. “So . . . is that the only reason . . . ?” he asked dropping into the nearest chair, refusing to meet the monk’s eyes.
He looked up as his seat was pulled back and the blonde dropped himself unceremoniously into his lap. “Stop playing the fool, that isn’t the only reason,” Sanzo said, dropping his lashes to conceal his eyes, “I . . .” the blonde swallowed, “I wanted him to know,” he admitted softly.
The blonde stood quickly as soon as the words left his mouth, determined to put some distance between them but Gojyo reacted faster. He grabbed the blonde around the waist before he’d gotten more than a step away and yanked the monk back into his lap. “Oh, no you don’t. Didn’t we already have the talk about the whole running away thing?” he asked, drawing the tense man more fully into his lap. “I’m glad Goku knows, I hate sneaking around.”
Sanzo lifted his eyes, starring into crimson before relaxing a fraction.
“Besides, how the hell are we supposed to date if we have to hide it? Especially from the people we live with? Hakkai would have figured it out right away even if we didn’t say anything - he’s scary like that. And while the monkey may not have the brains to figure it out he’d have found out because I don’t think I would’ve been able to keep my hands off you,” Gojyo murmured, tilting the blonde’s chin up and lining his lips up with the monk’s to finally get a taste of his cranky priest.
The blonde moaned as an insistent tongue found its way in his mouth and tangled with his and he curled his fingers in the fabric of the redhead’s jacket as his senses were assaulted one by one and his shields crashed down. It unnerved him how easily Gojyo could do that.
The redhead pulled back, smiling as he waited for amethyst irises to be revealed. “Umm, Sanzo?”
“What!?” growled the blonde, irritated that the pleasant floating sensation had stopped.
Gojyo chuckled, “I think you should get going now - you’re gonna be late.”
* * * * * * *
“Come on, Sanzo. Why the hell not? It’s not like you even know what it’ll be like. Just give it a chance.” Gojyo pleaded.
The time had finally arrived for the two to decide where they would go on their first date but Gojyo didn’t think the issue would be resolved quickly. They’d been arguing about it for twenty minutes now - practically since the blonde had returned. Well, they weren’t so much arguing, more like Gojyo suggesting one place after another and Sanzo rejecting each one.
The blonde turned to glare at the redhead and huffed, “I don’t need to go to a club to know it isn’t an experience I’d enjoy. Forget it, kappa.”
“But shnookums- Ow! Damn it, you cranky monk, stop doing that!” Gojyo rubbed sore ribs and glared petulantly at the blonde.
“Don’t call me that again, kappa, or I’ll aim lower next time - and it’ll be with my foot.”
Gojyo swallowed and nodded wearily. Really, he should have known that being privileged enough to have been granted a date with his Majesty, did not mean the monk was going to stop using his fists against him - or that he would suddenly turn submissive.
Then again, Gojyo smiled, I’ve always been more partial to prickly roses than frail lilies. Life’s always more exciting when there are thorns involved.
The redhead grasped Sanzo’s hands to keep the monk from attacking him again and pulled the protesting man close, wrapping strong arms around him and kissing the crown of that golden stubborn head. The blonde sank into his embrace after a token struggle and sighed.
“I’m not going to a club, Gojyo,” he murmured.
“Alright, alright. But if not a club, where?”
Sanzo curled closer to the redhead, listening to the strong beat of his heart. “If you’re so deadest on doing this, can we at least go someplace quiet?”
Gojyo sighed and settled gentle hands at the nape of the monk’s neck, massaging soothingly, “Well, that’s not how any of the dates I remember went - but then again there weren’t many, so maybe that’s why I never had a quiet one. All of mine were pretty wild, the only time we went anyplace quiet was when we were ready to-”
The redhead broke off as he registered the potent glower aimed at him. “Heh, sorry beautiful.” he said, scratching the back of his head in a vaguely guilty way, “Sure let’s have a quiet date - why the hell not. Happy now, sweetheart?”
Sanzo nodded and wrapped his arms around broad tanned shoulders, pulling the other man’s head down. “Kiss me, Gojyo,” he demanded, drawing their mouths closer.
“Anything you want,” the redhead murmured throatily, claiming the monk’s lips and tugging him nearer, determined to meld their bodies together.
No finesse, no leisurely caresses - just a heat that burst into flame at their close proximity. Gojyo devoured those sweet lips, groaning at their suppleness. He could feel Sanzo pressing closer still and backing the redhead up to the couch making their hips rub deliciously with each step and sparking their desire to further heights. He stopped when he felt the backs of his legs touch the sofa and tore his lips away from the blonde’s, forcing himself not to fling the monk on the couch and simply screw him silly. He‘d told Sanzo they‘d take their time and that‘s exactly what they‘d do - even if it killed him. He wasn’t sure why doing this “right” was suddenly so important to him - figured it probably had something to do with the whole Sanzo being a virgin thing and left it at that. Virgins were supposed to be treated with kid gloves right?
Someone ought to tell Sanzo, Gojyo thought with a smirk. Virgins are expected to be prim and proper aren’t they? Or maybe that’s nuns. The blonde had definitely been anything but prim and as far from proper as anyone could get.
Gojyo had to admit it’d been one hell of a pleasant surprise to discover that Sanzo had no reservations about initiating anything between them. The blonde only tended to balk slightly when the redhead ventured into uncharted territory - he certainly seemed very comfortable with kissing at this point.
He’ll be comfortable with a lot more things before we’re through.
