Gensomaden Saiyuki Fan Fiction ❯ Cracked ❯ Chapter 1
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Title: Cracked
Author: Elf Asato
Written: 8/21 - 8/22
Summary: 38 drabble. Sanzo thinks before Hakkai wakes.
Disclaimer: Not mine whatsoever.
Notes: This was written for the "finish the scene" challenge over at the 383 Livejournal community (gold_magic). I'm sort of skewering the rules since I'm beginning the scene in the manga (vol. 4, ch. 19) where Hakkai wakes up in the cave-thing with Sanzo after fainting. Spoilers for said scene.
Sanzo couldn't remember the last time he felt that way, so angry, helpless, and upset. Chin Iisou wanted to break Hakkai, and there was no one to stop him except Hakkai himself, which unnerved the priest; the former human had been rattled sufficiently after watching him shoot such a narrow target near Gojyo's heart, so it might not take much else to crack and break him. But Sanzo hoped that Hakkai would be stronger than that, for his sake if nothing else because he was having a hell of a time trying to control his anger.
He wanted nothing more than to rip the throat out of that bastard Chin Iisou in cold-blooded murder for making Hakkai relive that time again, if only internally. If he ever cracked...well, it would be the thing nightmares were made of. The very thought of everything they had worked for suddenly falling apart pissed Sanzo off. If Hakkai ever became a hindrance to the mission...
Thoughts like that bothered Sanzo because when they first met, when their companion Cho Hakkai was the mass murderer Cho Gonou, he had actually liked him. Since setting out on this hell-bound journey, they had learned more about one another, and with the passing of each day, Sanzo's liking of him only increased.
...If Hakkai died, whether by his own means or Sanzo, the wayward priest would be depressed for him.
The said youkai stirred from his place on the ground, coming to as his hand lethargically moved in front of his face; he stared at it oddly.
"You're awake," Sanzo said coldly. "There's no point in fainting after treating someone else."
