Kouryu looked around the courtyard before he snuck the candy into his mouth. One of his secret pleasures, other than day dreaming anyway. He heard a sandal purposely shuffle on the rocks behind him.

"Kouryu. What are you doing?" Kouryu turned to find a smiling Koumyou standing behind him, his hair slightly disheveled.

"Dunttin' " Kouryu said, a mouthful of candy slurring his speech. Koumyou smiled wider. He took the boy by the shoulders and gathered him in a hug. Kouryu blinked in surprise, confused as to what he was supposed to do in response.

"Chew it up so you don't choke." Koumyou laughed sweetly. Kouryu chewed at the caramel, the flavors exploded in his cheeks, the rare sweetness a pleasant feeling.

"-zou. Hey, Sanzou. Your gonna burn your fingers." Gojou poked at Sanzou's shoulder, knocking him from his memories. Sanzou looked down at his cigarette and noticed how close the burning edge was to his fingers. Quickly, his muscles stiff from his previous lack of movement, he moved to put the butt into the ashtray. He stared at his hand as it hovered a short ways away from the ashtray. Gojou eyed him strangely, the others had long ago gone to bed. Hakkai peacefully slept on the bed, Gokuu was snoring on the bedroll on the floor. Sanzou turned and look at him, wishing to join him soon, sleep seemed a promising option.

"Sanzou-sama. What's wrong?" Sanzou looked back at the redhead that accompanied him at the small round table on one end of the room.

"Um. It's nothing. I think I'm gonna go to bed." Sanzou, a little dazed, stood a little too quickly. His mind swam with nausea and he swayed on his feet. Gojou caught him before he fell and steadied him on his feet.

"Oi. Sanzou. What the hell is wrong with you tonight?" Sanzou pushed him away and took a step before falling to his knees on the floor. He held his head as it spun like a top. Gokuu darted up to a sitting position and blinked at the blond monk.

"Sanzou? What is it? Are you ok?" The sleep not quite shook from his eyes, he struggled to focus on his master.

"Ah, Gokuu." Sanzou shook his head, trying to stop the spinning. Gokuu woke up the rest of the way then, his concern in sudden overdrive. He crawled over to Sanzou and pulled him close. Sanzou didn't protest. Gojou walked past them over to the sleeping Hakkai and leaned down to Hakkai's ear.

"Oi, Hakkai. Wake up, sweetheart." He whispered into his ear. Hakkai, forgetting himself amid his sleep, raised his hand to the back of Gojou's head and pulled him down into a kiss. Gokuu watched them, his breath catching in his throat. Then he smiled, happy that they had all become so familiar. Gojou smiled at Hakkai as he pulled away.

"Hng." Sanzou moaned into Gokuu's arms. Suddenly all attention returned to their human companion. Hakkai moved the covers and swung his legs to the side of the bed.

"Sanzou. What is it?" Hakkai asked, the concern in his voice outweighing the sleep.

"Dizzy. My head won't stop spinning." Sanzou said from the safety of Gokuu's arms. Gojou spoke up from next to Hakkai.

"He was off in his own world for the longest time, then when he rose to go to bed he just got dizzy all of a sudden. What do you think it is, Hakkai?" Hakkai smiled. He turned to his travel pack on the floor next to him and rummaged in a side compartment. He pulled out a caramel piece and displayed it with triumph.

"Sanzou has troubles with his blood sugar. Give him this and he'll okay in no time." Gokuu reached out his hand for the candy and went to give it to Sanzou. Sanzou stopped him and looked up at the others.

"Gokuu, unwrap it first, baka. Could you two leave for a bit." It was more of a demand than a request, Gojou instantly retaliated.

"What!? You can't just order us out into the cold night you bratty priest!" Hakkai stood and hurried the protesting Kappa from the room, finally silencing him with a kiss and shutting the door behind him. Gokuu laughed a little as he finally removed the caramel from it's wrapper.

"Now what, Sanzou?" Gokuu asked, a tempting grin on his face. Sanzou smiled past the dizziness and watched as Gokuu put the candy in his mouth. He then let his mouth fall open slightly as Gokuu kissed him. The caramel flavor exploded in his cheeks when Gokuu's tongue entered past his lips. Then the caramel it self snuck into his mouth. He ended the kiss and chewed the candy slowly.

Pushing the kimono off of his shoulders, Gokuu kissed down Sanzou's neck. Sanzou let his head tilt back as his kimono fell to his waist. Gokuu kissed at the bare shoulders of the pale monk, his hands roving over Sanzou's tight shirt. Gokuu's small hand found it's way under the front of the shirt and he trailed his fingers over his stomach.

"Oi, Gokuu, you've got to stop." Gokuu laughed quietly as he pulled away. He knew how much the uptight monk liked his kisses, but then the other two just outside the door put a damper on their fun. They heard a loud moan from the other side of the door, and then a voice.

"Aw, c'mon. It ain't like their gonna miss us."

"Gojou, sh! Quiet down..." their voices fell back to a level where they couldn't hear them anymore.

"Sound's like we aren't the only ones that are longing for the chance of having separate rooms again." Gokuu said quietly, he looked down at the houshi in his arms and noticed he was asleep already.

"Jeez Sanzou. Just like you make me have to carry you to bed, you jerk." Gokuu, a faint smile still on his lips, pulled the limp potato sack called Sanzou-houshi-sama to the bed they would be sharing on the polished wood plank floor. He covered Sanzou with a blanket and stood to get the others.

Gokuu put his hand on the doorknob when he heard the two talking outside.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll stop. Shit, this sucks." Gojou was complaining once more, but had finally gave in to Hakkai's denying of his advances.

"You said he was lost in thought. Mind telling me what you think might have been on his mind?" Hakkai leaned against the door, Gokuu could feel his weight push on the frame.

"Well..." Gojou said pensively, "It seems to me that it was an interesting daydream. Right before my eyes I watched him lick his lips like he could taste something on them. You know? For a second there I thought he was having a wet dream."

Gokuu's breath caught again, he himself had witnessed Sanzou in this state. His experience was that whenever Sanzou became this way, it meant that it has been quite some time since he last had a piece of candy. It was almost as if it was his secret lover. Gokuu smiled and turned the doorknob. He heard the click of the latch as the door opened. Hakkai started and stood away from the door.

"Hey, Gokuu. What's up?" Hakkai said, smiling. Gojou peeked into the room behind him.

"Nothing. Sanzou's asleep." Gokuu yawned and turned to walk back to his bedroll. He stretched and dropped to his knees. He laid down next to Sanzou, facing him. Sanzou reached out to the teen and took his hand. Gokuu squeezed back and closed his eyes.

"Good night to you too, Sanzou." He said quietly.

Hakkai shut the door after Gojou had walked inside. Together they walked to the small, twin size, bed. Hakkai laid back down, Gojou kindly tucking him in. Hakkai smiled but waved him away jokingly. Gojou laughed quietly as he put out his cigarette and switched off the light. He walked back over to the bed and sat next to it.

"Hakkai. Can I talk to you?" Gojou said quietly, trying not to wake the others. Hakkai took his hand.

"Of course. But we need to go to sleep soon." Gojou laid his head down in his arms.

"I know." Gojou yawned and began to talk. The sound of their quiet, deep voices lulled Gokuu back to sleep. They spoke long into the night of menial things, stuff that didn't really matter to much but gave them a reason to enjoy each other's company.

Gokuu caught something about what they planned to do when they get done with their journey, Gojou asked about taking in youkai orphans. They all knew that they existed, but in all the chaos they were kind of forgotten. Gokuu remembered the youkai children he saw before the minus wave began to spread. Smiling and playing on swings and slides.

Their parents, at that time still considered part of the community, watching from hillsides and benches. They all looked so content, so happy. He wanted to join them, but Sanzou was always in such a hurry. Gokuu looked at Sanzou's sleeping face, the worry lines disappeared when he slept, he yawned again and his mind slipped of into slumber.

The next day was business as usual. Sanzou paid for the room, Gokuu and Gojou argued about one thing or another, Hakkai played referee. Sanzou smacked a couple youkai with the paper fan from hell, and Jippu suffered the brunt of it all.

"Give me that back, ero kappa!" Gokuu yelled in the back seat.

"Fuck you, baka saru!" Gojou yelled back. Sanzou, trying to keep his cool best he can, sat in the passenger seat holding his fan close to his chest.

"If you two don't shut the hell up I swear to Buddha I am gonna make you friggen' walk to India." Hakkai laughed loudly, catching everyone's attention. The two in the back hushed momentarily.

"Gokuu, Gojou. How would you too like it if I turned on the radio. Will that quiet you down for a while?" Hakkai smiled at the two in the rearview window. Gokuu perked up instantaneously. He leaned over Sanzou, his arm linked around his neck.

"All right! I'd love that!" Sanzou's eyebrows furrowed and he punched the saru in the face. Gokuu sat plastered to the back seat, stars floating around his head.

"Sit back you idiot. You wanna go flying when Hakkai hits a rock?" That second the jeep jumped about two feet in the air and landed with a thud.

"You mean like that?" Gojou asked laughing. Hakkai blushed and let up on the gas a little. Sanzou reached for the radio and switched it on. It jumped to life with a bit tuning and soon 'the idiots in the back' were pacified with the sounds of the local rock music.

"Ah. Sanzou. I forgot." Gokuu said, breaking the pleasant silence. Sanzou squeezed his eyes shut and clenched his fist around his cigarette.

"What?" He said curtly.

Gokuu leaned forward again, clinging tightly to the back of the seat, and planted a warm and kind kiss on Sanzou's right cheek. He then sat back and smiled. Gojou stared wide eyed at the saru. He would never have been that brave. Up until just recently, even talk of their personal relations was taboo. No one spoke of it either way.

"Thank you, Sanzou." Gokuu said, grinning wider. Proud at his display of affection, and happy with the results. No paper fans or loaded pistols had come his way, now that was good luck.

Sanzou on the other hand was not feeling soo good. Hakkai, peaking out of the corner of his eye, could practically see the smoke coming out of the houshi's ears.

"Breath Sanzou. Just breath." Hakkai said, under his breath, just audible for him and Sanzou alone. Gojou raised an eyebrow from the back seat, but he knew better than to say anything.

"Shut up, Hakkai. Please." Gojou heard that though. This time both eyebrows raised.

"And you, Gojou! Don't say a fuckin word!" Gojou smiled. He took a breath to say Hakkai's name when a pistol was shoved in his face.

"Did I not just say not to say a word?!" Gojou put up his hands in his defense. He reached on of his arms out to tap Hakkai's shoulder.

"Yes, Gojou?" Hakkai said calmly. Sanzou retreated and sat back down. Gokuu stared at the back of his head and Sanzou could feel his eyes on him.

"Hakkai..." Gojou moved forward in his seat and wrapped his arms around his lover. Sanzou closed his eyes and turned his head away. The

"Sanzou!" Gokuu shouted. Jeep swerved and Sanzou snapped back to attention, he turned to see quite the sight.

Hakkai and Gojou, locked in a passionate kiss, Sanzou assumed from this view that someone's tongue had to be shoved down someone else's throat by now. He made a face and took the wheel.

"Ah! Damnit you two!" Sanzou said frustrated as he tried to study the vehicle. Hakkai ended the kiss and pushed Gojou into the back seat. Gokuu punched the kappa in the arm and they stared daggers at each other. Both were thrown to one side as that the jeep was still out of control.

"Sanzou! I am so sorry!" Hakkai took the wheel back slowed the jeep to a stop. He looked up to see a town in the horizon.

"Hakuryu... sorry." Hakkai said quietly to the dragon turned jeep. Hakuryu made a sound as if to say 'pheww' and wipe it's proverbial brow.

"Hakkai. Will we make it to that town before night sets in?" Sanzou said, lighting another cigarette. They had been on the road all day already, and beside that last little display of frustration, they could all use a rest.

"Y-yes. I think we can." Hakkai said blushing deeply, jumping back from his daze. Gojou had never kissed him in front of the others, Hakkai felt as if he could die of embarrassment.
"Then go, damnit. This isn't a field trip." Hakkai smiled shyly at Sanzou, before he took off he looked in his direction. To Hakkai's surpise, Sanzou had quickly smiled back.

The rest of the ride was in perfect, golden silence. The radio remained on as catchy pop song melted into the next catchy pop song. That alone was enough to drive them all mad. When they entered town Sanzou switched off the radio as quickly as he could.

"Look!" Said Gokuu, perking up in the back seat, "A whole block of restaurants!" Gojou laughed at him and made a snide remark.

"Your pick Gokuu!" Hakkai said from the front seat, Gojou glared at him.

"Pay back a bitch, ero kappa?!" Gokuu teased. Gojou scowled and flipped him off, he turned away and looked at anything else but his three companions.

This was one of the few times they ever hit a town this big. It was filled with people, and none of them were strangers to iron vehicles either. Some of the buildings were quite tall, and everything had an air of sophistication. Sanzou of course was instantly troubled about this.

"We can't stay here long." He said as they entered the inn. Hakkai nodded, but the other two weren't quite so happy about that idea.

"Hey! Sanzou! Why can't we stay a few days?" Gokuu said, clinging to the sleeve of Sanzou's kimono.

"Shut up you stupid monkey. Take a look around and you will understand why we can't stay." Gokuu let go of Sanzou and the other three continued into the inn to speak with the receptionist. Gokuu looked out the glass doors at the people walking by. They were all so happy, so content. As if the knowledge of the minus wave didn't exist.

"Oh. Okay..." Gokuu dipped his chin to his chest and turned from that happy scene. He followed the others to the desk.

The receptionist smiled brightly, but her eyes remained directed towards the floor. Sanzou and Hakkai were the first to notice this. Gojou, on the other hand, was incapable thinking past his hormones.

"Nice to meet you. Would you like a room for the night..? May I suggest a good eatery..?" She stammered slightly over her words, but not enough for one to really notice. She was trembling like a leaf though, and the ink pen in her hand wouldn't stay still.

"Well, well. It's nice to see such a pretty face. What's your name? Or should I just call you 'pretty'?" Hakkai stared daggers at Gojou as he leaned over the desk and flirted with the young woman. Normally it was fine with him, but he was still upset about earlier. He moved forward and grabbed the kappa by his red hair and pulled him a safe distance from the girl.

"Yes. We would like to reserve some rooms. Singles if you have them." Hakkai accentuated the 'singles' part, earning a questioning stare from Gojou. Gojou rubbed at the back of his head and he turned away from the group. Even Gokuu was ignoring him. He shrugged and wandered out of the inn's foyer toward a small bar. Perfect, he thought, I can kill some time and refill at the same time.

"Hey, Hakkai, why singles? Couldn't we just get doubles like we always do?" Gokuu asked when they finished the reservations. Hakkai just smiled and then walked back out to the jeep. There were things to be carried in. But Sanzou and Gokuu remained inside for the moment. Sanzou noticed the lack of a certain red headed idiot.

"Damnit. Where did that dumb ass go to now?" Sanzou said, looking from side to side.

"Huh?" Gokuu looked up at Sanzou and around them, he hadn't realized that Gojou was even gone. He looked toward the inn's bar and saw someone sitting at the bar with long dark hair.

"Gokuu... Come on." Sanzou stormed outside to Hakkai. Gokuu followed closely by.

"Hakkai! Go talk to that baka kappa. We can't have these kinds of things stalling us up." Sanzou took the bag from Hakkai's hands and moved toward the jeep's trunk to take more. Gokuu also took his share and they began to walk back inside. Hakkai stared on in disbelief.

"They took everything. I guess I have no choice..." Hakkai shut Jeep's door and walked back into the inn. Finding Gojou was easy enough, it was talking too him that wouldn't be so simple. Hakkai stood in the bar's entryway for a few moments, getting used to the dim light and attempting for a second wind.

"Do you think they be okay?" Gokuu said as they put the last of their things in the fourth room. Sanzou sat on the bed and lit up a cigarette. He waved off the comment.

"Don't worry about them. Their problems belong to them only." Gokuu had heard this before, he moved closer to Sanzou and put his hand on the side of his face.

"Sanzou, you know that isn't true. We're supposed to be a team, their problems effect us as well." Sanzou looked away from the monkey's truthful eyes and stared at the half open door instead. Gokuu moved his hand down to Sanzou's neck, he pushed the monk's kimono down his shoulder, exposing the fair skin hidden underneath. Gokuu bent forward and kissed the soft skin lightly, chills coursed through Sanzou's spine, he held still to stop the pounding of his heart.

"Get away from me monkey." Sanzou said, standing and pulling his sleeve back into place. Gokuu sat where Sanzou had vacated and watched him leave. Sanzou stopped at the door and turned back halfway.

"And when the hell did you grow up? Huh? Baka saru." Gokuu took the pillow from the head of the bed and hugged it to his chest, he pouted as best he could.

"Don't call me 'baka saru', Sanzou-chan." Sanzou glared at him and reached for his fan, but then he stopped suddenly as a hand grabbed his wrist. He looked at the bed and found it vacant once again, the pillow was also missing. Sanzou looked at his wrist in surprise. The grip was strong but not enough to hurt him, it was as if the person knew just how hard to hold him so as not to bruise the white skin. He looked up from their hands and into golden eyes.

"Gokuu..." From the boy's other hand dangled a pillow, forgotten about, as it would come crashing to the floor at their feet. Gokuu's arms wrapped around Sanzou's neck and he moved so terribly close to the houshi's face. Hot breath on top of hot breath, quickening slightly at the nearness.

"I know what your going to say, 'get the hell away from me, baka saru'. Right?" Sanzou stared, wide eyed into that extreme gaze. He couldn't talk, the words were lost to him.

"Well, I'll tell you my answer right now. 'No'. I don't want to let you alone tonight. Stay with me, Sanzou..." Gokuu's voice had taken on a certain air of maturity, the deepness of it almost frightened Sanzou. When he took the boy in he was still just a child, even with his five hundred years. But, in this short time, he had grown soo much. So quickly, making up for lost time spent in a dark cave surrounded with wards.

Sanzou closed his eyes, hoping to break the spell those golden orbs always seemed to have on him. Wether it was to convince Sanzou to buy him some sweet treat, or to allow Gokuu to kiss him. He always fell to obedience. It was as if those pleading eyes were his greatest weakness. It was when he felt the probing lips kissing under his chin and what of his neck that was exposed that Sanzou's eyes flew open and he froze. Everyone has a spot where they're effected the most, right? Well this was his, and he once again fell victim to Gokuu's wishes. Sanzou wrapped one arm around Gokuu's waist and use the other to slam the door shut and lock it. Hook line and sinker, Sanzou was caught once again.

"Ne, Hakkai. Would you like a drink as well?" Hakkai started as the sound of Gojou's voice. It was gruff from lack of use, Hakkai felt his own vocal cords needing to be restarted. He hadn't realized how long he had actually stood there and just look at his delinquent lover.
