Gensomaden Saiyuki Fan Fiction ❯ Tarots Choice ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Tarot Cards don't believe them, don't use them. They will however, take an important part in this story. If I get some of the cards wrong, it's because the deck that I put in here is all made up. So if you know some stuff about them, it would be fine to tell me about them, just please don't tell me card names. I really want this to be a good story so I don't want to use original card names.

Now that is settled, let's begin!

"It can't be! This card has never turned up before in my castings……something wrong will happen today child. Mark my words, child, mark my words." An old voice whispered the expression on her face scared.

"How can you be so sure? I mean those thing's are just a load of hooba jooba to give people something interesting in their life. I've told fortunes with those cards million's of times and nothing has ever come true from what I have done." A voice, female and lilting, almost has if she was singing the words.

"It is because you do not believe in the true power of them. Because you don't believe you can not access the true potential inside of you. Your parents sent you to me soon after you were born because you were special and needed the training.

When you held my Tarot cards for the first time, you actually told a true fortune with the power of a gypsy. But it was soon lost as you grew older and saw the world for what it really was and saw the world with no magic; the world that you saw as a child.

I can do know more but nurture you and try and send you on the right path. Child please follow what the Tarot cards say. They will guide you when all seems lost. "

A silence insued as the old woman looked at the young woman at her side. The girl was about the age of fourteen; she had dark brown eyes, mysterious and hypnotizing to look at them for long periods of time. Her hair was tucked underneath a baseball cap and she was wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. Her face had no makeup and she was smiling the crooked smile that the old woman loved so much to see.

The old woman, whose name was Asantia, loved this girl as if she was her own flesh and blood (meaning daughter. Get your minds out the gutter peeps.)

"I'm sorry grandmother but if we were to continue this conversation, I would be late for school. Please, may we continue this conversation when I return home?" The girl was always polite to Asantia. The woman had given her a home and treated her like her own daughter. But to everyone else that got in her way of achieving her dreams or just plain made fun of her for her weird way of talking to adults, got hurt.

Asantia sighed, her voice weary and the sound carrying through the back of the small store they lived in. `Very well little one. When you return we shall continue. But please just carry the cards with you and think of them always." She held out a pack of brand new Tarot cards, still in the plastic wrapping. The young woman picked them up without ceremony and stuck them in the back pocket of her jeans. "Fine, but I have to go now. Love you, see ya in the afternoon!" she called as she exited the store. Asantia watched as she ran down the street and out of her site. `Goddess of Lilies, watch over Grace. Guide her through her new school and bless her.'

The old woman thought, calling upon the sacred Tarot Cards. She watched, without moving a muscle as the card that held the Goddess' picture on it began to gently glow with an inner light and hovered slightly over her withered hands. A silver mist gathered around the card and was soon gone.

The Goddess of Lilies picture was gone, in its stead was a blank card; the lily border, of blue and green and a pale rose color, and was still there. But the picture was gone and Asantia laid the card down and sighed in relief.

She blinked gently and fell asleep. The front of the store still and dusty, just like it was when they broke in, the small fire in the hearth that had been built that morning crackled softly and spat sparks in the air as the old woman slept and dreamed.

The young woman ran as fast as she could down the crowded streets, her feet barely touching the hard, broken concrete. `Kami-sama! I have to be careful id I don't want to twist an ankle and be even later.' She thought hurriedly as she began to weave through the morning traffic of cars, people, and delivery bikes.

She came to a small intersection, barely breathing hard even though she lived ten miles away from the nearest high school. She carefully looked at the stop lights and decided it was a better approach to wait and catch her breath. `I still can barely catch my breath….not! Jeez even though I haven't trained in months, with either the cards or just plain muscle training, I can still kick butt!'

The girl felt a strand of hair slipping away from underneath her baseball cap. She quickly tucked it up, not knowing how regular people (unlike herself) would react to her strange color of hair. She sighed softly, attracting the attention of a few people near her who were also waiting for the light to change and quickly stared straight ahead. "Jeez, free country. Ever heard of that?" she muttered softly and earned herself several glares. Once again she sighed and turned her attention forward, noticing a small browns and gray kitten appearing on the side of the road.

The little kitten, barely old enough to keep its eyes open, was dirty and bedraggled. Its small mouth opened to show a pink tongue and give a small pathetic little `Mew' that was not able to be heard over the blistery wind and the large and noisy crowd that had gathered.

She watched it for a little while and then lost interest. `Humph, it's probably going to be rescued by its mother anytime soon. I mean the friggin' thing is too young to be living out by it self!!! How else is it going to live?' The girl thought wildly.

`' Ah, that kitten was put there to save you. `' A voice whispered in her head. She blinked several times and swiftly turned my heads to look at the small kitten that was now heading towards the middle of the road.

`Dang it! Questions later, answers now!' she screamed as she ran out into the middle of traffic. She dodged a couple of cars that weren't going too fast and ignored the catcalls that she heard from the side of the street. She turned to look and made a face. `Humph a couple of street punks. I can take them any day.' She turned back in time to see the kitten reach the middle of the street and was about to be ran over by a speeding Ferrari.

"No!" she screamed, her voice rising to warn the driver. Quickly she picked up the kitten and tucked it into the crook of her arm. `Oh well if I can't make it than at least this little kitten will still live.' she thought as she squeezed her eyes shut, waiting of the impact to happen and the pain to come. But nothing came.

She opened one eye and opened the other, her face filled with wonder and anger on her face; a interesting combination for the predicament she was in. Right in front of her, a large….well, being stood. It glowed with a silvery-blue light and hovered several inches off the ground. The face held deep mental concentration as the speeding car that had been aimed at her and the small kitten was being lifted off the ground and moved to another part of the street.

"Goddess……….Goddess of Lilies." She breathed, the anger in her voice making her not able to breathe or speak correctly. `' Yes? `' The Tarot Card spirit answered its full concentration on moving the car. "Asantia summoned you didn't she? Didn't she?" she shouted her voice catching in her throat.

The spirit answered her, its voice not revealing any emotion. `' The woman you call Asantia did summon me. She asked me to watch over you, make sure everything went all right for you. I was to be your guardian angel for a day. `' The young woman seethed in side. "She told me…I trusted her! I trusted her not to send some one after me to save me every time!' she screamed inside her head, setting the kitten side for a few moments.

The young woman reached into her back pocket and pulled out the new deck of Tarot Cards, still incased in the shiny protective wrapping that crinkled as she pulled it off and threw it into the wind. She pulled all the cards out at once. Quickly she began to shuffle threw them and then stopped, a look of slyness on her face. Gently, she held the pack of cards in her hand and began to chant in a strange language; none of which had heard before that was standing there that day.

`Asdrath, metineo, werssea!" she yelled. The pack of cards suddenly began to twist and form around themselves until the right card that was needed showed on top of the deck.

It was The Goddess of Lilies.

The girl took the card and shoved the rest of them back into her jeans pocket, not minding them becoming bent and such. She held the card between two fingers and threw it at the spirit that was hovering a few feet away from her. It became stuck on the green and pale rose robes it was wearing. The silver eyes became sad as the young woman began to tell it something. "You will not return. I banish you back to your card. Return to what you once before!"

The air around the spirit began to grow smoky and dim as the card began to glow brighter than the early morning sun. "Return." The girl repeated. "Return."

`' Very well, `' the spirit whispered. `'But you will soon encounter new worlds and friends. Your Asantia told you this. I'm only repeating what the fortune has told me. Farewell young one and follow this piece of advice: Trust only those that can be trusted. Love only those that can be loved in return. Till this happens young one, you can not return to where you were born. Goodbye. `' And then, she was gone.

And so was the young woman, Amber.

Asantia awoke, not knowing if it was the cold that woke her up or other senses. She smiled in satisfaction as she saw that the Goddess of Lilies was back in her card.

"Heh, it worked. Now she is on to Shangri-La. I can not reach her, only hope she will be strong enough on her own." The old woman whispered as she began to make another fire in the hearth. "Good luck Amber, good luck. You shall need it for fortune has smiled upon you." She said into the fire, hoping that somewhere in the other world that her adoptive daughter would hear her words.

So how did you guys like??? Ok, I want to clear a few things. The girl's name is Grace Amber Mazurka. She hates the name Grace and likes to go by the name of Amber because her hair and eye color look like a piece of amber. Also this takes place where the YuyuHaksho gang is yet she goes to a different world, the Saiyuki gang.

I haven't seen any of the DVD'S and only read the first four books. So please, bear with me.

If you can please review. It only takes a minute of your time and means the world to people who get reviews. I review people as much as I can and they really appreciate it. So please, review. Even if its one word, it means a lot to someone.
