Ban stood in front of the mirror of the Honky Tonk’s bathroom inspecting his hair and suit. Hevn had given up on his hair, but insisted on him not wearing his glasses. After some prodding on Hevn’s part and “looks” on Ginji’s, Ban had finally relented. “Ban-chan,” Came Ginji’s voice, “Are you ready? We’re gonna be late.” “Yeah, yeah. I’m coming.” Ban gave himself the final once over, fixing the collar of his jacket and stepped out into the diner. “C’mon, Ban-chan. We’re gonna be late, and if all three of us show up late together, Hevn’ll suspect something!” Ban smiled and kissed Ginji’s cheek, ruffling his blond spiky hair. Paul quirked a brow at that and repressed a snicker. “Come on. Ginji’s right. We gotta get going.” — The ride in the limo took almost no time, or maybe it just seemed that way for Ban because he had Ginji’s antics to amuse him (“Wow! Ban-chan, I just got your reference when you said Tokyo Tower was too small to be Shido’s logo!”). Paul on the other hand spent most of his time staring out of the window. Unlike Ban, Paul’s eyes were hidden behind his dark glasses. Even if he wasn’t wearing them, Ban doubted whether or not he’d be able to decipher the older man’s current mood. — The wedding went off without a hitch, so to speak. Ban was best man while Natsumi was maid of honor, seeing as how Hevn had no sisters. Hevn’s father, a tall Russian in his late 50's, gave her away. Kazuki and Clayman were her bride’s maids. Paul’s best man was Ban (this started a line of thinking on Hevn’s part that included, but was not limited to, Ginji, a dress and makeup) while Jubei and Himiko were ushers. Seeing Himiko in a suit had Ban doing a double take, then snickering. (“What?” “You’re an usher?” “You’re just jealous that my lover’s hotter then yours” “Over compensating much?”) In the pews sat Shido, Madoka and Mozart; Emishi; Ginji; Sakura (“Awww, my JuuJuuBe is gonna be in the wedding. I must see this.); Akabane and Magaruma (“You invited them? Who’s next? Kagami?); Natsumi’s father, and a few other’s Ban couldn’t recognize, including a tall blond in shades with hair that held a striking resemblance to Paul’s*2. Also in the pews were a large group of people who Ban figured to be Hevn’s family.
After the reception, Ban finally got to meet Hevn’s parents and brothers*3. Her father seemed to have a thing about height seeing as how he insisted upon calling Ban “Small One”. Three of Hevn’s brothers (“There’s five of them? Ever hear of birth control?”) were tall and broad shouldered like there father, whereas the twins, a pair of bookish raven haired boys who never seemed to talk to each other but always seemed to be holding a conversation*4 anyways, were smaller, shorter then Hevn by a few inches though they were older the then other three boys. Hevn’s mother was a different book all together. Though rather open or friendly, Ban got the impression she was taking things in and filling them away in her mind to analyze and pass judgment on later. A Japanese chemist with a quick wit and odd humor, Hevn’s mother was a formidable woman who seemed to have her husband wrapped around her delicate fingers and her children well disciplined. It was an interesting experience for Ban to finally meet the people who spawned Hevn. He could now sit and look for who Hevn took after more and which traits she got from which parent. It was obvious she took mostly after her father. And incidently, Paul was most like her mother. Explains a lot about that relationship right there. Ban spent most of his time sitting and watching the interactions of the people around him. Especially Ginji’s. The genki boy wan running around sparkling at all the food there was to be had. It had taken Ban a while to get it through Ginji’s head that, Yes, the food was free and Yes, he could have as much as he wanted. Yet, that was almost beaten buy the antics of Hevn’s cousin’s 3 year old daughter who decided that she was in love with Shido and latched onto his leg ("Monkey Tamer." "Yes?" "You have a lemming." "I know." "It's cute." "...die. Just die."). Eventually, every single female crowded together for one of the deadliest sports Ban had ever witnessed: The throwing of the bouquet. Ban didn’t know what is was about marriage that drove females, and some males, of the edge of sanity, but this practice was a damn good example of said lose of sensibilities. Hevn stood at the top of a high stair case and turned her back to the crowd of females. But first, it seemed to Ban that Hevn was calculating something while looking over the crowd of eager, single women, for she spotted Ban in his place next to Ginji against the wall and winked before turning around. “Ban-chan, why do those women look desperate?” “Because they are, Ginji dear, they are very desperate.” “...’Cause we got something they can’t touch?” Ban smirked. However, that smirk didn’t last for something promptly hit him in his face, startling the dakkanya. “Ban-chan! Are you ok?” The something fell and Ban reached out to grab it. In his hands were pale yellow roses bound together with lavender plastic and a violet ribbon. Hevn’s bouquet. “...Ban-chan...” Ban didn’t look up from the flowers. “Yes Ginji?” “...Why do those women look like they want to kill us now?” “What...?” Ban’s voice trailed off as he looked up and found himself being stared down by a handful of rather angry looking women. “...oh.” — Ban and Ginji had escaped for their lives outside on the balcony of the structure away from the bloodthirsty crowd. “So, Ban-chan, if you catch the bouquet, your supposed to be the next person to get married?” “That’s how the saying goes.” Ginji was silent for a moment, then smiled, hugging Ban. “So, Ban, do you want to marry me?” “What?” Ban stared, completely taken off guard by his partner. “Well, according to this tradition your supposed to get married. So who better for you to marry then me?” “...” Ban blinked for a moment, then a slow, rare smile crossed his features for a moment before he kissed Ginji sweetly on the lips. “Yeah, why not.” — Hevn and Paul sat together on the couch, her head rested on his shoulder and her legs on his lap. Together they looked through their wedding picture which they just recently got developed while on their honeymoon. “It still shocks me to see your mom. You don’t look a whole lot like her, but when you two start talking, I can see the resemblance.” “Yeah, a lot of people say that. Oh wow, it seems the little lemming met Shido.” Hevn chuckled “I swear, that girl’s gonna be a handle when she grows up.” “Aw, look there, it seems she also met Jubei.” Paul and Hevn laughed. “Love, we have such interesting friends.” “Yes, interesting. And two of them don’t pay their tab.” Hevn laughed at that. “They have no luck with money. Not completely their fault, and oh look at that.” “Ah, yes. I took that picture and I want to send a copy of it to everyone.” There on the page was a picture of Ban and Ginji smiling at the camera, Ban holding up the bouquet. They actually looked as if they themselves had gotten married, and from what he heard from his sources (anyone with a brain) this picture proved to be rather prophetic. –Fin– — *Random Author’s Notes: Well? You like it? Yes? Good. No? Eh, it’s ok. No skinn off my back. But yes, I have a few things I’d like to add either cause I don’t thing It was very clear, or cause it would just be nice to know. *1) Helenka Eva Valeska Nyrko - Hevn, rightfully, should be written HEVN for it is an acronym. What it’s for exactly is never revealed to my understanding so we’re going to assume it’s the first letter for each of Hevn’s names. Helenka Eva Valeska means Light, Life and Truth. I found it rather fitting. *2) In case you couldn’t figure it out, it’s Yoji from Weiss Cruz *3) Hevn’s parents and entire family is another speculation on my part. As is her nationality. Her features make me think North Eastern Europe, leaning towards being Slavic. *4) Yeah, the Twins. Telepaths. Just thought you’d like to know. – Their honeymoon is a travel through Europe, courtesy of Hevn’s parents. In this last paragraph they are in Spain. Just so you know.
