Timing is Everything
By Cheyenne Dancer
Ginji was fidgeting again. He could feel his golden haired friend
as a static tingle hovering in the air brushing against his neck
and making his own hair spike even wilder than normal.
Paul, in a rare burst of generosity thanks to a win at the tracks, had given them enough sandwiches to fill even Ginji's bottomless stomach. He'd even refilled their coffee himself, twice.
Still, he could feel Ginji like a storm ready to break. Ozone tinged nervousness making Ginji squirm restlessly like a hyperactive five-year-old, his coffee spoon tinking against the porcelain of his cup as he stirred in another spoon of sugar.
Maybe he should limit Ginji's sugar intake. Smirking at the image of an outraged Ginji, Ban determinedly ignored him when his friend finally turned soft brown eyes in his direction in favor of indulging in his cup of coffee. It wasn't like he knew when he'd get the next one.
Hot, bitter and sharp, a lot like life, the liquid scalded his tongue as he drank.
"Ban-chan?"
Finally, Ban thought, as he took another gulp, he'd find out what was on his partner's mind. "Hn?"
"Iwantyou." Ginji blurted quickly.
"Wha--?!" Ban choked on his coffee, spitting and spluttering as the scalding liquid burned tender nasal passages. He had not just heard that. Ginji had not just chosen the Honky Tonk to announce what he thought he had announced. And not at that volume! Paul's paper rustled as he lowered it watching the two of them, a knowing smirk playing about his lips. The sound of a cup shattering announced that Nuriko had overheard the announcement as well. Oh. Well, maybe he had heard what Ginji said. ~ Owari ~ Ginji was fidgeting again.
