"It's not just about me. It's for your own good too Tohma." Mika had always known how to twist the knife, add insult to injury and rub salt in the wound, in roughly that order. Saying it was for his own good was especially vicious, because he had taught her that. It was he who had helped her become strong enough to be able to say that.
Also strong enough to completely ignore any of his protests and hand him the divorce papers. "I'll be in Kyoto, if you ever need me again." Out the door just like that and probably out of his life forever.
Numbly, Tohma had explored the house, noticing how bare it was. He hadn't even realized that all of her things were gone until this very moment. "I was busy at work." Even as he said it though, it felt hollow in his throat.
By the time he finally reached the bedroom, he felt his strength leaving him. As he sat down on the bed, he was aware of how small it really was and how little it smelled of Mika. Now that he thought about it, he couldn't remember when they'd last had sex. Despite the basis of their marriage, they still had a very physically intimate relationship, so he should have been able to remember.
As he racked his brain, he felt a sudden wave of nausea overcome him and after a few minutes, it was warring with a wave of dizziness. Later on, his doctor would be in awe, wondering how it was that Tohma Seguchi, who hadn't had a sick day in ten years, could have forgotten his flu shot.

Looking at the door to Tohma's house, Taki felt fear seize him once again. He knew he shouldn't be here, it was forbidden. Well, not expressly, but it was one of many understandings that the two had, one which he was about to break. "You have to do this though." No he didn't actually. It wasn't any of his business if Tohma had fallen apart because his wife had left him. He just wanted to mock him while he was weak, that was all.
After a few more minutes, Taki pressed the button on the intercom waiting for a response. Tohma's voice rasped through the box, sounding like death not yet warmed over. "Aizawa-san, to what do I owe this surprise?"
"Came to see how the mighty have fallen and gloat, you know the usual." Taki tried to sound nonchalant about it, despite the fear that was boiling under the surface.
"You're so kind." The voice was steel and ice all at once. "It's your fault that I'm sick anyways. You gave me your cold." The click of the door unlocking caused Taki's heart to leap. "Come up stairs then."
"That was weeks ago." Taki's voice was low as he stepped into Tohma's house for the first time, slipping his shoes off. He didn't bother to look around in awe though, heading for the stairs he saw in front of him. It was only when he finally entered Tohma's bedroom that he stopped to take in the scene.
Before he could process any thought beyond how big and lavish the place was, Tohma's voice broke in on his thoughts. "I would be pleased if you would stop staring and come over here, Aizawa-san." Taki looked at the figure lying under the covers and nodded, coming closer. Tohma was covered up to his chin in warm blankets, looking like a very small child.
"You're almost cute." Taki said without thinking, instantly regretting it, especially when Tohma's eyes narrowed.
"Don't patronize me. I'm perfectly capable of getting you fired." Tohma slowly sat up, revealing that he was in a pair of plain blue pajamas. "Sit down." Instead of waiting for Taki to comply, Tohma grabbed one of his arms and yanked him down, so that the vocalist was sitting on the bed next to him, face to face.
"Are you sure you're-" Tohma kissed him at that moment, a kiss that tasted of bitter mouth wash and sickness. Taki immediately shoved him away. "That's disgusting!"
Despite his protest though, Tohma had maintained a firm grip on his shoulder. "Why are you here if not for sex? Why else would you come here Aizawa-san?"
"Because." Because he wanted to laugh at him, to mock him. Because he was worried that the man had been done in by his stupid little divorce. Because he thought Tohma might decide to run after Eiri Yuki and he, Taki Aizawa would be left behind.
"Just because?" Tohma was cupping Taki's face with both hands. "Stop playing the stoic, Aizawa-san." Despite the fact that he was sick and shouldn't have been able to do so, Tohma pulled Taki down on the bed and began to devour him with hungry kisses.
As Tohma's hand slid down the collar of his shirt, Taki felt what little resistance he had within him give away as he realized that this was exactly why he'd come. It had been too long since they'd done this and he'd missed it. So much so that he didn’t mind that Tohma was swimming in disease and might leave him ill yet again.
When Tohma broke the kiss, Taki didn't have anything smart to say. Not when he was looking into Tohma's eyes and seeing the other man looking so desperate, like his whole world was going to fall apart. That was what would haunt him the most after all this; he'd had Tohma right where he'd wanted him and he'd done nothing, had NOT taken advantage of it.
Even as Tohma revealed that his body had already been covered in a feverish sheen of sweat before he'd even started, the older man had held more power over Taki than ever before. He was more forceful and rough than ever before, the closest he'd ever come to actually being hurtful.
Taki had to practically demand that Tohma even think about using any sort of lubricant, the older man being so hurried. After it was all over, instead of showering, Tohma collapsed in the bed, the only sign he was conscious being his still opened eyes.
As always, it followed that Taki couldn’t just make his escape right then or get by without saying something stupid. "So this is what sex with a divorcee is like then." Though, that had been a spectacularly stupid thing to say, even for him.
"Gloating? How shameful." Tohma was sulking now, if Taki was any judge of his moods. "Happy because I'm miserable."
"That's right. Why shouldn’t I be? It isn't like we have any sort of meaningful relationship." Now was the chance for Tohma to say otherwise, but as Taki had predicted, the older man chose not and instead rolled over to look at Taki, the expression on his face rather unpleasant.
It was as if he was one of those kids who had ordered x-rays specs and had finally opened the box, only to realize that they were a crappy pair of shades with some swirls painted on. "You're what I'm left with…" Tohma trailed off as he turned away.
Instead of probing further, Taki decided to change the subject, least anything more got revealed. "How're you feeling? I mean otherwise?" Small talk was stupid, but it was the only thing left to him at the moment.
Tohma's face was blank as he stared at Taki, or maybe through him. "Not bad considering that my wife just left me, possibly at the drop of a hat." Well, if Tohma was able to crack jokes, maybe he wasn't doing so badly, but it wasn't easy to tell with him.
"I meant health wise." Tohma actually didn't look as pale as before, though he was probably just flushed from sex.
Brushing a hand across his forehead, Tohma gave him a small smile. "My head feels clearer." The smile turned into a mischievous grin, the kind that Taki was used to.
It was a relief, so much so that he chose to immediately mask it with an insult. "Perv." Tohma shrugged and rolled over onto his back, arms behind his head.
"Honestly. I think I needed it."
"You're a sex addict." Before Tohma could deny it, Taki continued. "You go into withdrawals and sex is the only thing that makes it feel better. Otherwise, why would go after me?"
Tohma glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. "Don't pretend to be a doctor Aizawa-san." They didn't say much after that and it was only later on that Taki realized that he hadn't gotten kicked out.
