Over the next couple of hours Shuichi grew increasingly bored as the earlier excitement of actually being on a real vacation with Yuki slowly slipped away like soup through a slotted spoon, leaving him feeling drained and sleepy. The heated leather seat he was sitting in wasn't helping much either. Shu tried desperately to stay awake, but the seat was just so damn comfortable and warm that he soon slipped away from conscious thought and let his mind run happily through wonderful dreams filled with snow, mountains and hot chocolate. He was just envisioning the romantic evening he hoped to spend with his lover in front of a crackling fire as his head slumped droopily against the window.

`So, do I … or don't I?' Yuki interrogated himself painfully and silently as he continued on down the freeway, `But what…how…? I can't even say `I love you' to him. How could I ever…'
Shuichi started to whine and groan in his sleep and it immediately caught the novelists attention.

“I don't wanna… eat …the dande…lions. Yuki make `em go `way,” The singer mumbled incoherently as the novelist rolled his eyes.
The blonde reached over and put an affectionate hand on his lover's small shoulder, brushing his thumb back and forth over the brats soft, warm skin.

“Leave it to you to fall asleep twenty minutes before we get to the hotel, baka.”
Yuki smiled as he removed his hand from Shuichi's shoulder and reached into the back seat to grab his jacket. After moving his arm around blindly trying to retrieve the expensive coat while keeping his eyes on the road, his hand finally made contact with soft, cool suede. He carefully pulled the jacket forward into the front seat and, after adjusting it to the right position in his hand, laid it over Shuichi's tiny, curled frame.
When the coat was laid on him, the vibrant haired vocalist murmured something barley even audible to most people, though Eiri knew exactly what he'd said.

` Yuki. That's what he always says,' The novelist thought guiltily, signaling across into the far lane so that he could make the entrance to the exit ramp that he needed, `I just don't understand him. How can he love and care for me so much when I hardly ever return his feelings?'
This exact question had haunted the writer's thoughts ever since his Shu-chan had been raped and beaten and exploited by Tachi Aizawa and the men that he had hired all those years ago.
`Just to protect my public image,' Yuki thought angrily, looking over at the innocent young man sleeping peacefully in the seat next to him, `Just so that I wouldn't suffer. I tried to tell him that it didn't matter, that it was my fault, but he just wouldn't allow himself to believe that.'

Yuki reached over with his right hand and softly patted Shuichi's head, his elegant face sad and full of resentment.
“I should never have let you get close to me in the first place. None of that would have happened if I hadn't.”

“Mmmnnn… soft…pill…ow,” The boy mumbled sleepily as Eiri turned down a tree-lined road and finally through the beautifully landscaped gates (which were seasonally planted with winter blooming flowers and tall, tapered evergreens) that marked the entrance to the resort.

“Idiot,” The older blonde whispered softly as he pulled up under the canopy that lay directly in front of the hotel's main entrance.
He paused momentarily, wondering if he should wake Shuichi up or not.
He didn't want any crazed fans swamping them while they were here; they got enough of that when they ventured out together at home. Yuki knew that he didn't need to worry about being bothered, and for two good reasons. One, this particular resort was a fairly high-class place and they were accustomed to playing host to celebrities. The staff here knew better than to badger any of the more well know guests.
The second reason being that he was especially good at being inconspicuous, when he wanted to be.

The resort staff was one thing, Shuichi being himself was a whole different story all together. That dumb kid could get a dead monkey and ten of it's friends to beg him for his autograph just by walking past them and being his usual friendly self.
Wave. Smile. Say hello. Get mobbed.
That was usually how it worked for the kid when he went out in public, even with a disguise.

`Not that his disguises would fool anyone anyway,'
He thought smugly as he recalled Shuichi's latest “Clever” disguise. In Eiri's opinion, a pair of fake, pointed elf ears and a pink wool toque were not sufficient celebrity cloaking devices. It was amazing that the kid could still move his legs after all the running he had done that day.

Though Eiri still couldn't quite believe it, the ears actually suited his lover and turned him on. He'd even gone so far as to ask the kid if he would keep them on after they had gotten home. It had definitely been an interesting night for both of them, Shuichi somehow ending up getting into and then later, out of, his old Link costume that he dug out from god only knows where.

Eiri shivered and decided not to dwell on the past, it was to unnerving to think about at the moment... At any moment.
The sad truth of the matter was, Shuichi still hadn't learned all the little tricks there were to know about not being noticed, though Yuki was trying his best to correct the problem. This particular lack of knowledge was the deciding factor for the blonde and he got out of the car, leaving the dozing vocalist asleep in his seat.
He locked the doors over his shoulder with his key starter as he was walking in through the automatic front doors of the main building.

“Tohma-kun!! Mika-chan, Na no da!!!” Ryuichi sang as he burst happily through the large oak door of the Seguchi residence. He paused in the center of the massive but , well-lit foyer and waited to hear Tohma or Mika's response.

Ryuichi? Is that you? The keyboardist called from somewhere far off in the large house.

Hai Tohma! Me and Kumagoro-chan!, Ryu answered brightly, Where are you na no da?

Just a minute, I'll be right there, came Tohma's response.

Okay Tohma! Me and Kumagoro will wait right here for you!
The immature singer placed his stuffed bunny neatly on one of the red velvet upholstered settees and he sat down in a half-backed armchair.
Looking around at the pretty paintings on the walls, he started to hum the tune to Shuichi's new song `Call to Me' which he liked very much.
After what seemed like forever to the hyperactive thirty-five year old, Tohma finally came panting into the room.

Tohma-kun!!! Ryuichi cried as he launched himself off the chair and onto the surprised looking man. The force of the hyper singer's body hitting him at rocket speed, coupled with the fact that he hadn't gotten much sleep the past few days was enough to send Tohma crashing down onto the royal blue carpet.

It's nice to see you too, Ryuichi, He said gently as he patted the smiling older man on the head, But would you mind letting me stand up now?

Oh. He he! Ryuichi laughed as he sat up and got off Tohma's stomach, Sure thing Tohma!

The blonde stood up and gave Ryuichi a smile.
Thank you, He said gratefully, Now what is it that you have come to see me about?

Ryuichi picked Kumagoro off the couch and put him on his head as he began pacing back and forth, muttering with his finger in his mouth. He only did this when he was thinking really hard about something so Tohma waited patiently for his response.
Suddenly, Ryu remembered why he had come.

I remember now! He exclaimed with a smile that stretched from ear to metal encrusted ear, Me and Kuma-chan came to ask if you knew where Shuichi-kun and Yuki-san went. Do you know na no da?

Tohma had a puzzled look on his face.
No, I don't know where either or them are. Eiri …has not spoken to me in quite some time, Tohma replied with a sigh, Perhaps you should call Nakano-san or Eiri's younger brother Tatsuha-kun. One of them may know where they went. He turned to head out and spoke as he moved.

Now if you'll excuse me Ryu, Mika-chan is…sick…and I must go tend to her. Good-bye.
Tohma turned, bowed and exited the grandly decorated room, leaving Ryuichi standing there all-alone. Ryu sighed and did up his and Kumagoro's matching bomber jackets.

Sick? Ryuichi questioned Kumagoro as they stepped out into the cold might air, I wonder what she's got. Hope I don`t get it.
Kuma just made a confused shrug as if to say that he didn't know either.
Ryuichi sighed again and headed for home.

`Slam!'
Shuichi woke with a start.

I didn't eat them it was the rabbit I swear! he gasped shortly as he shot bolt up right in his seat. Yuki rolled his eyes as he inserted the key into the ignition and pulled forward, being careful not to hit the decorative granite planters that lined both sides of the pad under the canopy.

Calm down, it's just me, Eiri said apathetically as he put a hand on Shu's shoulder to settle him.
The singer paused in mid pant and offered a few wide-eyed winks as Yuki's hand made contact with his shoulder.

The blonde haired man removed his hand only after he was absolutely sure that his lover was fully conscious. He was all too familiar with how spontaneously the kid could act when he was woken up too quickly, or was half asleep. Yuki shuddered at the thought of his poor apartment and the beating it had taken the time he had woken the brat up after he had passed out on the couch at his second release party and Eiri foolishly tried to put him to bed.
The writer had never know anybody, other than Shuichi, that could box like a pro in their sleep but not be able to punch their way out of a wet paper bag during the day. He had the bruises to prove it.

The pink haired young man took a deep breath and curled back up in his seat. He looked up and gazed out the window at the snow-laced evergreens that surrounded the parking lot and shivered. He really didn't want to go outside into the cold.
Shuichi pulled his coat tighter around his shoulders, trying to conserve all the heat he could before he had to step out of the car.

The singer paused and looked down at the soft brown coat draped over him.
`Hey this isn't my coat!' Shuichi realized suddenly, `This is… but how did…'
It took him not even three seconds to figure out that, after he had drifted off, Yuki had covered him up. The boy swallowed hard and slowly looked over at his lover.

`Yuki only likes doing nice things for me when he thinks I don't know about them,' he formulated roughly, `So… maybe if I pretend not to notice, he won't get angry.'

Shuichi turned his gaze back out the window and tried not to smile. Even if it made Yuki angry to be nice, he was sure happy when he was. It made him feel special and cared about when he found out little things like this were of his lover's doing.

It took the novelist almost a minute to notice that he hadn't been hugged to death. Shuichi had already realized whose coat he was covered up in so why hadn't he attacked him and cried all over him yet?

`Is he sick of something?' The writer wondered as he turned cautiously to look at the boy sitting next to him.
Shuichi felt eyes on him and turned to confront the man they belonged to.
His forehead ran smack into Yuki's wrist.
The blonde felt Shuichi's forehead and then his own, frowning when he discovered that they felt exactly the same.

Uh…Yuki what are you doing? The vocalist asked awkwardly as his lover continued to feel his head and face with his right hand.

What does it look like I'm doing you moron? Yuki scoffed as he returned his hand to the steering wheel. I was checking your temperature to see if you had a fever.

Shuichi was taken aback by his lover's awkward statement.
Why were you doing that? He asked quizzically as he turned his head sideways, making him look like a confused, pink, little puppy.
The writer sighed and pulled into a parking space to his left.

I figured that, since you didn't latch onto me, you were sick, Eiri said sarcastically as he turned off the ignition and removed his seat belt.

Oh…because of the coat thing. Thanks for that, Shuichi gratified softly as he promptly handed Yuki's coat back over to him.

Don't mention it.
Eiri opened his door and got out of the car. He pulled his arms into his sleeves and fished around in his breast pocket for his pack of cigarettes and a lighter. He retrieved both items without much difficulty and lit a cigarette as he started walking over to the front of the hotel.

I wonder what's wrong with him? Shuichi asked himself solemnly as he reached into the back seat for his own jacket, Did I make him mad or something?

The singer continued to stare down at the puffy, down-filled jacket in his lap.
`Why do I always do the wrong thing's around him?' he pondered as memories of all the times Yuki had gotten mad at him started to flash in front of his eyes. He knew that his lover always looked upset, but when the man was truly mad, his eyes looked almost sad rather than angry like the rest of his face. That was why Shuichi hated to do anything wrong. He hated to lose Yuki's trust and faith in him. He hated to see that sorrowful look in his lover's beautiful amber eyes.
It was all the singer could do to keep from crying at the thought of causing so much pain to the only person he had ever felt that he could truly give his soul to.
