He sighed and closed his eyes. It reminded him of the day that Ayaka had ended their relationship.
It had been a bleak winter day just like this one about a year ago. He still wasn't really sure why she had broken it off, she had said something about not being able to handle the distance between them and the media attention. He had been upset about it, but all he knew was that it was over and it was in the past. What he had to deal with now was the lonely present and the unpredictable future.
The guitarist got up and drew the drapes closed in the hopes that covering up the dullness of the outside might brighten his spirits a little. It didn't, but it did make him realize that he needed more lights in his apartment. He just rolled his eyes at his pathetic situation and thought about how and where he was going to spend Christmas Eve. He really didn't want to spend it sitting around his apartment all alone so he thought that, if Yuji didn't have a fling happening with some girl, that he would see if his brother wanted to come and stay. Hiro knew how important it was to have somebody special on Christmas Eve and it made him rather jealous when he thought of all the people out there who did. Shuichi had Yuki, Tohma had Mika and K had Judy and Michael. They all got to spend Christmas with each other and he was stuck alone.
“Oh poor Hiro,” He mocked himself, “he's got nobody around so he's whining about it. Boo-hoo, poor me.”
It was at that moment that he decided to actually call his brother and see if he wanted to come over, instead of just mopping about it.
He looked on the back of his phone for his brother's new Tokyo number and punched it in. He waited one, two, three rings and was about to hang up when a woman answered the phone half way through the fourth ring.
“Hello?” She said sort of rudely.
Hiro was taken aback by the woman's voice and forgot to speak for a moment.
“Hey look if you want to play prank calls on somebody find another number kid!” The woman yelled angrily.
Hiro snapped back and countered with a simple, “Hello, can I speak to Yuji please?”
The women snapped her bubble gum before speaking.
“Oh! Sorry I just thought…never mind. He's kind of busy right now, Hun. Can I take a message?”
Hiro rubbed his face in tired defeat.
“Yah, uh tell him his brother Hiro called. He has my num—”
The women squealed when he was halfway through his sentence.
“Hiro! Like Hiroshi Nakano from Bad Luck?!”
He got this all the time and he had to admit that it did get annoying after a while.
“Yah that's me” he said lamely, not knowing what else to say to her. It was a very weird feeling to have somebody you didn't even know freak out just because you said who you were. After all you're not the one that thinks you're special and above everyone else, it's everyone else that does and they're the ones that like to make a big deal out of it.
“Oh my god! I can't believe I'm talking to you! I love you guys so much!! I've been to every one of your concerts and I have all your CD's. Can you please tell Shindo-kun that my girls and I really hope things go well with him and Yu—”
Hiro heard his brother ask for the phone. He must have been in the shower or something. The girl squealed something about not knowing his brother was the Hiroshi Nakano and then walked away from the phone. Hiro heard her call good-bye as she stepped out and closed the door.
Yuji said good-bye and then turned his attention to the phone.
“Hello? Hiro?”
Hiro sighed, thankful to hear his brother's voice instead of that girl's.
“Yuji! Thank god! Who the hell was that?”
“Oh...uh her name is Ruri. She and I have been going out for about a month or so and you sort of caught her as she was leaving. I was in the shower. Sorry.”
Hiro shrugged it off.
“It doesn't matter. I get it all the time, it's not your fault.”
“Whatever you say little bro.”
Yuji smiled and sat down on his couch.
“So what's up? Why'd you call? Just to shoot the breeze or what?”
Hiro got up and went into the hallway to turn up the heat.
“No, actually I called to see if you had any plans for Christmas this year.”
“Uh…well… I had planned on spending it with Ruri. Her and I really hit it off man!”
Hiro frowned. He should have known that his brother would have someone for Christmas Eve. He always did.
Yuji knew that his brother had broken up with his girlfriend and that he still hadn't found someone new. He felt sorry for him, nobody should be alone on Christmas.
“Hiro you know you can come over any time you want. If you want to spend Christmas with us your more than—”
“No Yuji, that's okay. I don't want to intrude. You spend it with your girlfriend. I'll be fine.”
“Are you sure Hiro? I'm positive Ruri wouldn't mind if you came over.”
Hiro laughed.
“You know, Judging by her reaction on the phone, I don't really doubt that.”
Yuji laughed as well.
“Yah… sorry about that bro. I try to keep it down that you're my little brother, but somehow they all manage to find out. Man it must be awesome to be famous and have girls you've never even seen before throw themselves at you.”
Hiro sighed and chuckled.
“Well you know, Yuji it's kind of weird actually. I mean sure some of them are pretty nice looking, but all they want is to get into your pants or your wallet. They couldn't care less about you.”
Yuji groaned with playful disappointment.
“Oh that's got to be the sob story of the year man! `Oh me oh my, busloads of hot chicks throw themselves at my feet every time I go on stage in my tight leather pants, but they don't care about the real me! Oh my whatever will I do?'” Yuji started laughing at his own sarcasm, “I don't believe you! Man talk about not knowing how good you've got it.”
Hiro admitted that he was being a bit of a whiner, but it wasn't his fault that he was looking for more than a one-night stand. He wanted someone to love, not just someone to screw.
Yuji continued on his rant.
“I'm surprised that you haven't managed to find somebody new. You could have ten girls with you for Christmas if you wanted them. Just go stand in the middle of the park in those leather pants they all seem to love so much and I'll guarantee you can have your pick out the ones that come flocking over.”
Hiro couldn't believe how big of a flake his brother really was. He did have a point, but the guitarist didn't want ten girls, he didn't even want one of those girls. No matter how pretty she was.
“Yah, Yuji your right. Mabey I am being too picky.”
“Hey, fame can do weird things to a guy!” Yuji teased playfully as If Hiro was just now realizing he had made some huge error in his ways.
“Yah like you would know!” Hiro mocked in a harried sort of way, “Anyway Yuji, I'm going to call around and see what everyone else is doing.”
Yuji sighed deeply in a relaxed sort of way, as if to let his brother know that he too had other things to do and was ready to end the conversation for now.
“Alright, talk to you later, Hiro. Remember, you can always come and stay with us. It really is okay.”
Hiro nodded even though he knew that his brother couldn't see the physical acknowledgement of his statement.
“I'll keep that in mind, Yuji. Thanks. Talk to you later.”
“Bye”
Hiro hung up and set the phone down on the floor between his feet.
He ran his hand through his hair and sighed.
“I really need to find a girlfriend.”
Now that he thought about it, he hadn't even really dated anyone since his break up with Ayaka. Sure he went out and met girls at dance clubs and places like that and sometimes one of them would insist on following him to make sure he “got home safely” but those weren't what he would call “dates”. He never saw any of them again.
He ran his hand through his hair again and flexed his sock-adorned toes as he reached for the phone between them.
The guitarist flipped through his mental phone book and located Fujisake's cell number.
Just before his fingers began to punch the number in, his stomach growled angrily at him, reminding him that it still hadn't received any breakfast and it was close to noon.
Hiro decided that his call to the workaholic keyboardist would have to be put on hold until he had eaten something. Despite the weather he was determined to improve his mood and driving his motorcycle usually picked up his spirits. He knew a great noodle deli over by the NG building and decided that was were he would get his food. Just thinking about getting out, riding his bike and eating were starting to push Christmas eve to the back of his mind.
He stood and grabbed his cell phone off the coffee table before he walked whistling across the room and around the corner into the main hallway. He pulled on his boots before opening the hall closet to retrieve his jacket, helmet and gloves.
Once all his leather gear was strapped on and zipped up and his cell phone was secured snuggly in it's designated little breast pocket he put his helmet under his arm and walked out of the apartment, locking the door behind him.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Shuichi had felt better after Yuki had talked with him and he decided that he was ready to try skiing. The blonde had sighed and groaned about going outside since the weather had gotten cold, but he reluctantly agreed when Shuichi applied his whining as well as a few tactfully placed touches and squeezes.
They put on their winter gear and Eiri lead the way out of the hotel and over to the ski chalet.
The blonde had fully planned on getting a new pair of ski's some time that year anyway so he decided against renting some and dragged Shuichi straight into the adjoining store to get pairs for both of them.
It had been quite a chore to pick out a pair that Shuichi both liked and fit. The first ones he looked at turned out to be too narrow, according to the sales women who had begun following them around as soon as they stepped into the store. Yuki easily located a pair of silver and black one's for himself, after all his feet hadn't changed sizes since he was nineteen and the style didn't really matter to him. He did best on wider, longer skis because of his height, but it took Shuichi a bit longer to find a pair since he had what the woman called an “in between size.” They finally managed to locate a respectfully orange pair for him that had the right sized boot, width and length, though it took most of the late morning and early afternoon.
By the time they had everything they needed and had made it over to the lift it was well into the afternoon.
“Yuki don't let me fall!” Shuichi squealed as they sat back on the lift and let their legs and skis dangle from the chair.
“You're not going to fall! Now get off me!”
Yuki growled about how big of a baby the little brat was the whole trip up to the top of the hill, but he didn't remove Shuichi's grip on his arm.
When they got to the top of the hill, Yuki got down and extended his hand out politely to help Shuichi from the chair. He was still awkward on his skis and he ended up falling against his fiancé. The singer would have been more than happy to stay wrapped in his lover's arms, but Yuki insisted on him learning to stand on his own. Shuichi held his gloved hand the entire time and the novelist could feel burning looks coming from an older couple further down the ridge. A year ago he might have felt ashamed or gotten angry about something like that, but now he just ignored it as best he could. When he and his genki little lover had first started to go out and people looked down on them or were openly rude to them, he would just transfer his frustration and anger to his mood. Shuichi usually bore the weight of these attitude changes, but no matter how snappy or mean the author was he couldn't shake the kid for very long.
Though he would never admit it, Yuki was proud of Shuichi, both in his success as a singer and in his mental determination and resiliency to failure. The kid just never let on that what people said hurt him, even though the blonde had held him many times as he cried in the security of their apartment.
By now the writer was used to the double takes and the rude disapproving looks he and his lover got when they went out together.
This situation had happened hundreds of times, so he just pushed the couple to the back of his mind and concentrated on helping the jelly legged singer currently latched onto his arm.
“Yuki I can't do this! It's to hard,” Shuichi whined as his lover helped him use his poles to slide further away from the lift.
The blonde just rolled his eyes.
“You've never even tried. Trust me, it's not as hard as it looks.”
“Are…Are you sure?” the twerp asked honestly, his face set firmly as if Yuki's answer would make or break his decision to ski or just go back to the room and watch TV.
“Yes brat, I'm sure. Now, stand so that the pressure from the tongue of your boot feels equally distributed down your leg.” Yuki bent down and touched Shuichi's legs where he should be feeling the pressure.
The singer did what his lover told him and to his surprise, his legs weren't as wobbly. This brightened his spirits and he smiled happily as Yuki slowly went through the instructions for going down the hill.
“Good you can stand on your own now,” Yuki moved away from him and the kid stayed up just fine, he even slid a few feet to try and follow the blonde.
“See, it's not so bad is it twerp?”
“Yah, it's fine now. I can stand all by myself and I can move around!”
He sounded like a little kid that just learned how to tie his shoes “all by himself.”
“Whatever, good for you. Do you want to go down now?” the author waved his hand impatiently out over the small slope.
“Y…well uh…y-yah, okay lets go down,” Shuichi stammered as the thought of him crashing into a tree popped into his mind.
Yuki nodded and the kid bravely complied as he was guided into the proper position for starting down. The author went through how to turn and slow down, though the singer was assured that the hill was to small for him to get going very fast anyway.
“I'll be right beside you, more or less, okay?” Yuki said encouragingly as he turned himself into the downhill position.
“Alright, if you say so.”
Shuichi slowly bent his knees and leaned forward. Yuki did the same on the kids left side.
“I'll go when you do,” The singer said nervously as he looked to his lover for reassurance.
The taller man sighed and nodded his head.
“Okay on the count of three then…one…two…three!”
Both men pulled their ski poles out of the snow and started gliding down the hill.
Yuki controlled his speed so that he was beside Shuichi the entire time and when he looked over at the kid, he was smiling and looking back.
The author felt a surge of pride flood through him. He had taught Shuichi how to do something, not an easy task and shouldn't ever be attempted by pregnant women or people with heart conditions.
The kid didn't fall once, though his legs did go too far apart once or twice, causing Yuki to laugh. Shuichi glared at him both times and nearly fell because he wasn't paying attention to what he was doing.
The short trip down the hill “didn't last long enough”, according to Shuichi when they reached the bottom and they were soon back on the lift-getting ready to go down again.

inumoon3: Like always a great chapter! I can't wait till the next update and K/Hiro pairing can always fit into a story! Now I'm interested to see what's happening with Touma and Mika, and not to mention who's going to be dominant between Tatsuha and Ryuichi, hopefully Tatsuha! Well anyway keep up the goodwork, I'm counting on you to update soon!
Yes I do agree that a K/Hiro pairing can always fit into a story, but I'm still tossing that idea back and forth. Yes…Tohma and Mika….hahahahahahaha!!!! Oh I've got a pretty good idea who's going to be seme and Uke with Ryu and Tatsuha.
GravityPull: You updated!!!!!!!!!!! YAYNESS!!! ^_^ *happy* ahem... this chapter was awesome!!! (gawd i'm over using that word) BUT it WAS a little confusing... it just got me a little mixed up on how Shuichi was acting @_@ oh well i reread it b4 i reviewed and uderstood it better *lol*... i think it's just me though... it does take me a few times to read something b4 i fully uderstand it =P oh well... again i'm here BEGGING U TO CONTINUE!!!!!!! Ja ne! ~
Yes I updated, though that was sometimes ago wasn't it? Wow…I'm really sorry about the wait. I wasn't really planning on going that direction with Shuichi's mood but I was kind of feeling down when I wrote that so that's probably where all the negativity came from. I usually have to re read things to understand them too so don't' feel bad !lols! I will be continuing don't worry!
moca : Wow! that was amazing! Oh I loved this It was so original sweet and written wonderfully! i think you should continue the story like a honymoon or somehting. Oh but what really gotme was the ending what a tearjerker. Well it is way past my bed time so I sincerly hope you keep writing a fare thee well!!!!!
This story is so not over!!!!why do people keep thinking that! I'm glad you liked everything and the ending of that chapter especially! I think I'm going to stop the fic just after their wedding, but I'm not sure yet. The honeymoon chapter would be like a bonus later on when I get around to writing it.
Traumatic BunnyRabbit : I'm checking the review board - just like you suggested;) and I'm so glad that you still writing this!! Keep it going - good smut is always good. And if you ask about a good pair for Hiro... How about him giving a little love-lesson to Fujisaki? Oh, I'm soooo evil *grin - evil, of course* So, I'm looking forward to see what kind of ideas are coming to you while you're in the shower :D Traumatic BunnyR :3
Yah!!you took my advise!!lols I am happy that you are happy! As you can see this chapter is dedicated to you, though I'm sorry that I couldn't work in the sleepover lemon that I promised you!. The chapter was just getting to long and it wouldn't have worked because we have to go back in time a little ways and it just wouldn't seem right. Oh and as to your suggestion I think you hit it right on the money. I think that's who I'm going to pair Hiro with, but I'm not singling out the K/Hiro pairing either because what I need to have happen with Fujisake's parents for what Iwant to have happen is going to be painful and well…I don't know if I want to write it or not. That probably didn't make any sense but it's kind of difficult to explain.
I do think up the best ideas in the shower…and when I'm sleeping…*shrug *
DemonicKareBear: Another great chapter. Do you ever run out of good ideas? Nevermind, don't answer that, of course you don't! Well, at least we hope you don't. Another brilliant idea, and I love this story all the same. You don't know what Saiyuki is? Go look at it one time, the Anime is really good as well. Anyway, hope you updaye soon! Love ya!
No I never run out of ideas! lol! well….I do but I always find more eventually. This horrendously late post is a good example. Not off hand. I've got a few pictures but I've never read any of it. I am looking into it actually. Is it a Yaoi cause if it is I need to get it because I need a new series to start when Gravitation ends in July.
Angela: *lots and lots of reviews *
Thank you for reading this Ange. I'm glad you liked it…well…at least I think you like it. You don't really say in your reviews. I'm sure you do cuz' I wrote it! he he he ( full of myself) and to answer your question no their wedding song will not be I Touch Myself! Geez show a little pride!lols! double entendre!
LunaNuri: *Looks around frantically sifting through the autothr's papers* where's it at? where's the rest?!?!? Wahhhh I was so hooked on reading it tooo!!!!*cries and hugs the author of this fanfic* from beginning to end I have loved this fic!! please finish it please oh please!!*begins to paw at her sides like Shuichi* oh come on please..you know you want to finish it for me... >.> lol
Welcome newest reader!! Well you may not be new but you're the newest reviewer anyway.(Holds rest of story over Luna's head) hahahaha!!!! Here it is!! You can't have it though! Lols Just kidding. I'll let you have it….when it's time to post it !hehehe!
I'm really glad you like it so much! I do love posting! Especially for my Shuichi
(inside Joke) to bad Sammy doesn't read this lols! *sigh* Ange probably got that lols!
Well I have some corrections to do so I bid you adieu.
Hey guys! I am so sorry that this took so long to post. I'm really really really sorry. I got blocked and my brain sort of died and then it was my birthday and then…oh well just everything. But I've posted so now the death threats can stop!! Yah!!! Oh and so that you guys know I'M GOING TO FINISH THIS IT IS NOT OVER YET!!!For those of you think it is and haven't' read the review boards. Oh and also I kind of jump around a lot so I'm going to catch everybody else up here in the next chapter so their all on the same day. If you're still confused read on. Ryuichi and Tatsuha are still back a day. Their still on the night that Yuki and Shuichi got to the hotel. Hiro has just caught up to Shuichi and Yuki and soon Ryu and Tatsuha will be caught up and everybody will be on the same day. Tohma and Mika will be caught up as well, but nothging really happens with them so they are sort of in limbo right now in my mind. I'm not sure what to do with them and their ….situation yet. That's all for the A/N this time! Talk to you later!!
Je na's from Bakayashato you~!
