After stubbing his toe on something situated near the bottom of the stair case and tripping over an end table, Shuichi finally managed to make it to the couch. The fact that he hadn't killed himself was astounding in it's own rite, seeing as how he could barley get a drink of water in his own house at night without tripping or falling or breaking something in the dark.
The singer plopped himself down on to the stripped sofa and, after flipping open his phone with a practiced wrist flick, proceeded to dial K's cell.
The blonde American was just finishing up the second DVD in his “The Best of Mash” box set when his cell phone started vibrating on the end table next to him.
He leaned over, checked the number on the call display, and picked up.
“K here,” He answered in a quasi-military fashion.
“Hi K!” Shuichi said as energetically as possible, while still being relatively quiet.
K picked up the television remote and hit the red `off' button, the faces of Klinger and Radar collapsing and folding towards the center of the screen to congeal into a small white dot before vanishing completely.
“What's the matter Shuichi-kun? Are you in trouble? Just tell me where you are an--”
The genki vocalist should have known to anticipate such a reaction from his over protective, trigger happy manager, especially since the crazed American hadn't heard from him for two days. He was actually kind of surprised that K hadn't come to hunt him down yet.
“No K, I'm fine! Really I am! I just wanted to uh… to ask you something.“
Confused, the blonde re-holstered his magnum, which he had drawn on a purely instinctual basis, and sat back to listen to what his lead star had to say.
“Okay listen… Yesterday, Yuki acted really strangely and told me that he loved me… and now this morning he…well he asked me to marry him…W--”
“I should have know,” K thought out load, “Madness is the first sign…”
Shuichi was getting frustrated with K's over presumptuous attitude.
“No K!” The singer snapped quietly under his breath, “ Please listen to me before you start assuming things.”
The American took a deep breath and raised a characteristic hand in defeat.
“All right. You win Shuichi-kun, now what is it that you wanted to ask me?”
Slightly worked up, but still relatively calm, the vocalist sighed and continued.
“Like I was saying before, he asked me to marry him this morning…” Shu paused for a moment to gaze down at his ring and smile, “ …and I told him that I felt bad about getting such an expensive ring and not having anything to give to him back. He told me that unless I had a Porsche hidden away somewhere, that I didn't need to worry about it.”
K took a minute to take in what his lead vocalist had just said. The kid was now engaged to a man who was, in the blonde's humble opinion, a bi-polar shut-in with possible psychotic tendencies. The fact that Mr. Yuki had proposed to Shindo-kun was proof in itself that the man couldn't be completely sane.
Shuichi believed he was “ loving and gentle and sweet” though K had personally dealt with the man on a number of separate occasions and felt that, if he really was as big of a teddy bear as his crazy little lover claimed that he was, then he did an extremely good job of hiding it.
K made a mental note to keep an extra close pair of eyes on the man from now on.
Shuichi cleared his throat as if he were waiting for K to say something.
The blonde shook his head to clear his thoughts.
“If he wants a Porsche in return, then that must be one hell of a ring Shindo-kun,” He quipped lightly as he stretched out on his navy blue sofa, wincing as his back cracked.
Shuichi smiled and again gazed down at his left hand to the place where his engagement ring sat, glittering softly in the moonlight.
“Well yah it is… I love it and… well, I just want to get him something he wants for a change. It's not often that he comes right out and tells me that he wants something…”
`outside the bedroom that is' the singer added in his head as he giggled.
K was not quite sure what had caused Shuichi to start laughing, but he had a pretty good guess. He smiled and thought about what to say to the kid.
`I guess congratulations are in order here some time… Not every day your lead singer gets married to the icy, manipulative bastard he's infatuated with, is it?'
“Congratulations Shuichi, I'm happy that you and Yuki-san have finally decided to finalize your relationship. As for the answer to the question you were about to ask me, I think either black or red would be the best choice of color.”
How had K known he was going to ask that?
`I guess he's not my “Crazy American Manager” for nothing…'
“Thank you very much,” Shuichi said softly, shrugging himself out of his thoughts, “I'm sure Yuki would thank you as well…but he's sleeping right now so…”
“You're welcome. When do you want the car delivered Shindo-kun? That is what you want me to do, right?” K asked bluntly as he reached for the pen and paper on the coffee table.
“Huh? Oh…yes it was,…uh let`s see…we'll be getting back on Sunday so…”
The singer paused as a plan began to form inside his head.
“Shuichi-kun?”
“Oh! Sorry K. Uh…I'll just tell you the details now so I can call Hiro.”
The vocalist rattled off the color, year, dates and random things he wanted the car to have and K scribbled them all down on his pad of paper.
When it was all taken care of, Shuichi finally asked K how much the car would cost him.
The American looked over all the things the singer wanted in the car and scratched out a few equations on the page. Though guns were his chosen mistress he certainly knew a thing or two about cars as well.
“I'll have to look into it to get a definite price for you, but I'd say that you're going to be looking at something in the six point five to seven million yen [1] range… after taxes and duties are all taken care of.”
Shuichi was slightly surprised by the price, but not completely blown away. He knew that Yuki's Mercedes had cost a lot but he couldn't be sure if it had cost this much or not.
“K..I…I can afford it right?” He asked uneasily as if K would say “no”.
K excused himself before setting the phone down on the end table. He got up and went into his office to search for the particular piece of paper he needed.
He riffled through some mismanaged cabinets before coming out of the room with the booklet of sheets clasped firmly in his hand.
The American picked up the phone, said he was back and flipped through the papers until he found the page he was looking for. It was a list of several bands' pay stubs that he had gotten from one of NG's accountants'.
“Shuichi-kun,” He said distractedly as he read some other pieces of information, “According to this… you could probably afford to buy quite a lot of those cars. I hear they make great matching gift sets! `His' and `her`--uh, `his' sorts of things, you know?”
Shuichi laughed and sighed with relief. He was glad that he could finally pay Yuki back for all the nice things he had done for him. The singer planned to make a special day for just the two of them and take Eiri back to where they had first met, and to Odaiba where they went on their first date. He would end the day off by giving his lover the car as an official engagement gift, along with a suitable ring if he could secretly finagle Yuki's size.
He could see the day unfolding in front of his eyes and he sighed happily as he watched his imaginary Yuki crack a rare smile and race towards the shiny new vehicle. He was sure his lover would absolutely adore it.
“So was that all you wanted to talk to me about Shuichi-kun?” K asked after the singer had been silent for more than a minute.
“Hmm? Oh… uh yah it was. We should be back on Sunday some time, Yuki has some television thing to do on Monday. Call me as soon as you find out… actually… no, don't call. I don't care what it costs. Juts buy any and everything that can be put into it and make sure it's black.”
“Roger,” K said in English as he scribbled the words `EVERYTHING' and `BLACK' across the bottom half of the page,
“ I'll take care of everything. Talk to you later Shuichi-kun. Don't work to hard while your on vacation.”
Shu rolled his eyes and smiled. Hiro loved to jibe him with comment's like that as well.
“I wooon't!~” He sang innocently, “ Goodnight K, and thank you so much.”
The blonde rubbed the back of his neck and yawned.
“No problem Shindo-kun it's what I do… Hey, before you go, there was something I wanted to ask you, if you don't mind that is.”
The pink haired singer couldn't think of any reason not to allow K's further questioning.
“Ask away!”he said jauntily.
K smiled and continued
“Well, when you get married to Yuki-san , are you going to change you last name to Uesugi or keep it Shindo? You don`t have to tell me if you don`t want to.”
“Well,” The vocalist thought, “I haven't thought about that until now, but it's probably safe to say that I'll be changing it, unless Eiri has some reason why I shouldn't, though I don't think he would.”
“Okay then. I was just satisfying my curiosity. Good night Shindo-kun.”
“Good night K.”

Tatsuha continued to let Ryu lean on him as they made there way into the building. They walked inside and the teenager was not shocked to find marble floors and gold accented light fixtures surrounding them on all sides. They walked over to the bank of elevators and Ryu reached out to hit the `up' button with a cold finger.
“You live on the top floor I'm assuming?” the younger man asked while they stood and waited for the car to come down to them.
“Mhm,” Ryuichi confirmed, “Way on the very tip top. My house is nice na no da!”
Just as Ryu finished his sentence the silver doors opened, revealing a young woman in what appeared to be her late thirties. Tatsuha thought she was nice looking, with her round face framed by stylishly cut brown hair. On her left shoulder hung a large black purse and clinging shyly to her right arm was a small black haired little boy. The boy saw Kumagoro poking his head out of Ryuichi's coat and smiled. Ryu noticed what the boy was looking at and winked at him as he smiled. The child just giggled and smiled back.
The singer and the monk both stepped back to allow the women and her son room to get out of the elevator. They both bowed to her politely and she smiled as she returned the courtesy. They must have looked rather odd standing there soaking wet and grinning like mad men, but if they did the woman in front of them didn't make any note of it.
When the two were gone, Ryu and Tatsuha stepped into the now vacant car. The broad doors slid closed and Ryuichi still hadn't made a move for the control panel, so Tatsuha took it upon himself to push the highest available button number, which turned out to be twenty-six.
The brown haired singer next to him leaned back against the wall with a heavy `thud' and sighed as he closed his eyes.
“Hm? What's wrong Ryuichi-kun?”
Ryu put a hand behind his head and just sighed again.
Ryu put a hand behind his head and just sighed again.
“I don't want to be a failure,” He whispered as he slid down to the floor and scooted back into the nearest corner, covering his face with his hands.
Tatsuha knelt down and put an arm around the singer's shoulder.
“A failure? What are you talking about?” The monk didn't quite understand.
“Yah. Sure I've accomplished lots of stuff, but none of it matters. I'm 35 and what do I have to show for it?”
Tatsuha couldn't see how being an internationally famous rock legend worth millions; maybe even billions of dollars didn't qualify as an accomplishment. He was about to say something when Ryu continued.
“I'm the only one of us who isn't married. Tohma has Mika-san, Noriko has Ukai-san and Saki-chan, but me? Nothing. No kids, no pets, no pictures, and no wife.”
Tatsuha could understand what Ryu meant now. He was talking about average achievements, like stuff that normal people took for granted. The youngest Uesugi didn't want to assume anything to soon, nor did he want to offend Sakuma-san, but didn't he at least count for something?
“Well, you may not have kids, or anything like that, but you… you have me. Don't I count?”
Ryu uncovered his face and wiped his eyes.
“Tatsuha does count. You make me shiny again na no da.”
The monk leaned down and placed a kiss on the singer's forehead and wiped the tears off his cheeks.
“I'm glad I can make you happy Ryuichi-san,” He said softly.
Ryu sighed.
“I'm glad you're glad.”
The vocalist smiled as he reached up to put his hand behind Tatsuha's head and pull the monk closer so he could kiss him properly.
Their mouths slowly came together through small nips and tentative bites and finally, they met to engage in a sensual dance of passion. It was as if the two were back in the limo once more, exploring and tasting each other as if for the first time.
Ryu's formerly downtrodden attitude was immediately replaced by a happy, passionate one as he devoured Tatsuha's mouth.
It seemed they would stay that way forever until they were interrupted once again, this time by the elevator doors sliding open.
Ryuichi sighed happily and leaned his head against Tatsuha's as he smiled.
Tatsuha looked down into the older man's eyes and saw that the singer was trying not to laugh.
“What?”
The singer couldn't hold it in anymore. He burst out laughing and rolled onto his knees so he could stand up.
“I'm sorry!” Ryu said softly between giggles, “But you looked so annoyed! It just isn't your night, is it na no da?”
Tatsuha wasn't going to sit there and be laughed at. He stood up quickly and attacked the under side of the singer's throat with chaste little nips and kisses, causing the brunette to squirm and giggle even louder. The monk wrapped his long arms around Ryu's entire upper body, restricting his movement and ability to fight back. The singer tried to be quiet because the neighbors already disliked him for being too noisy in his apartment sometimes, but it was just too difficult.
The biting lead to sucking and the kisses lead to long cat like licks and it became painfully obvious to Ryu that if he didn't stop him, Tatsuha was going to start undressing them both inside the elevator car. Though it wouldn't be his first fuck in an elevator, the brown haired singer had something a little more special planned for his first time with Tatsuha.
The brunette gasped when the teenager unexpectedly pulled the stretchy fabric of his v-necked shirt down lower and began to attack his left nipple in the same manner as he had his neck.
By this point Tatsuha had released Ryu's arms from his sides and the singer brought up the newly freed appendages to rest on Tatsuha's shoulders.
With a drawn out groan of frustration and quick toss of his hair, the brunette pushed the Teenager's mouth off of his chest.
Tatsuha whined and pouted, but backed off.
Ryuichi leaned down to the monk's ear and nipped at it before starting to whisper.
“Once we get into the house, you can lick and suck on me wherever you want to.”
Tatsuha looked up at the singer with a mixture of surprise and worship. The man standing before him was nothing short of a god, a living breathing god. He was deliriously happy and it showed. The singer smiled somewhat deviously and reached out for Tatsuha's hand.
As Ryu took hold of him and lead him slowly out of the elevator and down the carpeted hallway, Tatsuha silently hoped that the night they were sharing together would never come to an end.
