"I don't believe that my life was meant to feel pain and numbness, but this what happens when you let your heart be held within the hands of a man, who doesn't even think you exist. Shuichi Shindou (Bad Luck)
Chapter Two: Suffering
I don't know how to begin such a tragic tale. From the moment he walked out of my life, I knew that nothing would ever be the same. Everything slowly started to change, and I started to change. My life that once was involve around him, singing and dancing slowly started to turn down hill. I forgot how to live, how to smile, and how to think. My heart that held so much love for everything gradually dies off. This is how I felt for two years since our breakup. It's been that long . . . so long that I started doing things that you wouldn't believe I would. No one would have thought that sweet, cheerful Shuichi would turn into this . . . a cold-hearted bastard. Within these two years of nothing but lies, pain, and scandals, I learned that there is no such thing as love. There is no such thing as romance. Love is nothing but a fragment part of one's imagination to feel the emptiness within the chambers of the heart. To make you believe that you can have anyone in the whole world as your own and continue to live happily ever after like they do in fairytales. Bullshit! Love isn't real and what makes it feel "real" is the lust for another. That's right . . . lust which makes a man craves for something more. Something so surreal, something so passionate that in the end, who really is hurt? The person who fell into your seductive trap or the seductress . . .
"Shuichi, what are you doing?"
"Working on some new lyrics for the band. What does it look like, Fujisaki?"
"You're still working on them, how many have you completed within the last two hours?"
"Seventeen."
Fujisaki paused as he looked at his bandmates/friend as he wondered how in the world he got seventeen lyrics down in just two hours. Looking around the studio room, the table was covered with papers and other stuff as Shuichi continued to write, without even looking at him. This was another new improvement Shuichi has given them, which wasn't right. He never knew what really happened between Shuichi and Yuki, all he knew that they broke up and never got together after that. On the news, they showed many reports about them and about their lives now. Yuki moved on and has found someone else, a woman this time. And what Fujisaki could tell, Yuki was basically happy with the new situation. He released at least five great sellers within a year and his new girlfriend is an actress. He had to admit, she was beautiful, but he swore he saw her somewhere before, but just couldn't remember. Then there was Shuichi, Bad Luck's lead vocalist/composer. What was he doing with his life . . . going absolutely wild. He completely changed from the crybaby, genki man to this wild, seductive creature which both he and Hiro still isn’t comfortable with. The band's success is sky rocking within the music charts because of Shuichi's new persona. And the songs that are on many of their albums are nothing but dark, morbid beats. Bad Luck left the world of high class rock, to this Emo type music. All their fans love it, because it was Shuichi who was making them love it.
He could still remember that time on stage that Shuichi went all seductive and started singing on of their songs. It was in Osaka, during the middle of the winter tours. Seguchi-san thought it was a great idea to do a concert there, so he placed it in this mall. Of course, Shuichi didn't complain, he never did anymore. He just said as long as he can sing, he's fine wherever they perform. And the night of the concert, he decided to wear this outfit you wouldn't think he would wear as his old self. While he and Hiro wore dark blue jeans and T-shirts in different colors and designs, he wore an all black leather suit that hugged his body, revealing his tiny frame that slowly was starting to become built. He even changed his hair, turning it all black and wore make-up to cover his bags under his eyes. He went completely gothic, spike cuff links on his wrist and a matching necklace. When the performance started, it was great, they did some old songs and some in A'capella. But the encore made both bandmates look at him in surprise. They didn't know he was planning to sing one of his songs. They basically couldn't play and Shuichi went alone, without them. Watching him, he starts singing, lowly and seductively. His voice flowed within the air, choking all the fans down in the audience, which were mostly women. All they could do was wait patiently, they knew they were going to interrogate him later in the dressing room. But what shocked them the most is when he walked off stage and went to this young woman, who almost died when he came up to her. He started circling her like a predator as he went behind her and whispered something into her ear that made her faint. The audience went mad, but they knew what he told her. There is no such thing as romance . . . only lust.
"Fujisaki, you've been quite lately, is there something you need or want?" Shuichi asked him, not turning his eyes away from his work, making Fujisaki jump. He forgot he was there and his cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Moving to the left side of Shuichi, he reached out and took a random sheet of paper, seeing it was lyric. Reading it over silently to himself, he was impressed to see such passionate words placed down on paper. Like he said, he never thought Shuichi would ever be like this. He truly changed for the better and maybe the worse. "These lyrics are really good . . . where did you come up with these?" he exclaimed, feeling getting the vocalist attention. Looking at Shuichi, he saw violet eyes stare at him emotionlessly, making him feel really uncomfortable by his gaze.
Shuichi shrugged his shoulders as he placed the pen down and took a stretch. Yawning, he was becoming tired but he knew he had to finish at least three more lyrics and decide which one he wanted on their album. "I don't know, maybe from my head. I have a lot to write lately, needed to get it down on paper." Was all he said before ending his short break and returning back to work. Turning away from Fujisaki, he wondered where the others were, but wasn't going to ask.
Reading his expression, he placed the lyrics down, sighing deeply. "They all left for the evening. Hiro and K went out to eat and Seguchi-san finally decided to go home and take care of Mika. Sakano went home also, to be with his family. It's just use two tonight . . . well maybe you. I just came to see if you left, but you didn't."
Shuichi just nodded, finishing up his last sentence. Placing the pen down, he picked up the paper and read through it. His eyes moved along the words, memorizing them. He could feel the perfect beat, the rhythm for this song. Closing his eyes, he could hear Hiro's bass blasting loudly as he strums the chorus. And Fujisaki away on the keyboard, his fingers moving quickly along the white keys, creating the absolute perfect melody. He was taking it all it as he slowly opened his eyes and flashed the written paper to Fujisaki. Staring at the young man, he saw brown eyes blank confusingly at what was he request. "I want you to read these lyrics. Memorize them and come up with the music part. I want to see if you can see the same vision I have for it." He replied, pushing back into his chair, letting the legs balance on two.
Raising his brow, he read over the lyrics quickly, wondering what he had in mind. "What do you want? Is this supposed to be a cheerful song or another masterpiece of morbidity?"
"Both actually. Not really uplifting, but it makes you wonder about life and all its wonders. So do you think you can do it?"
"I'll see . . . this might actually be tough this time. I never was able to keep up with your creativity. Of course, you actually writing seventeen lyrics in two hours, I'm still not used to it. But don't worry, I'll try to make it match with your style of writing. Well, I should get going, are you going to stay here all night again?"
Shuichi let out a loud yawn, making that a no. Maybe he's going to rest tonight, work on the last three lyrics tomorrow. Coming back down, he stood up. Leaving the heap of papers on the table, no one would come and touch it, he had a key to it and the janitor wasn't allowed to come here. "No, I'm actually going to go home and try to get some sleep. I haven't been able to sleep lately and it's bugging the hell out of me."
"All right, don't do anything to over stress yourself. Oh before I forget, Seguchi-san wants to see us tomorrow afternoon in his office. He has something he wants to tell us and we can't be late."
Groaning lowly, he didn't feel like dealing with Tohma, but he had no choice. The man was basically his ex brother-in-law and his boss. After him and Yuki broke up, he started to become all friendly with him. Of course not falling for the man's twisted ways, he just decided to avoid him much as he can in public. "Guess it's important and I'm not going to skip this one."
"Yeah, it is important. He has some important discussion he wants to talk with us about, especially you since you're the leader and K since he's our manager. Oh and please, don't start ignoring him, we know you do it."
"I'm not making any promises. He tends too, bore me and I don't like to be bored half to death. I'm twenty-three years old, I would like to live a little."
"Sure, whatever. There's nothing that's stopping you from living. Hell, you make basically every cover magazine and already have a criminal record."
"Not my fault I was caught, and besides, the officer let me go if I gave him a . . ." But he stopped, shoving his hand into his pocket and changing the subject. "Fine, I'll pay attention tomorrow. I'm not making any promises."
"I'm not expecting you to."
"Good, because they only would become broken."
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Opening the door to his apartment, he flicked on the lights as the whole room brightens up. Sighing deeply, he kicked off his shoes and dropped his keys on the table by the door. Looking around the place, it was so clean, when did he clean it. Maybe Ayaka came over and clean it up for him, since she and his sister are going out. He let them come over and stay sometimes, he had enough rooms. But right now, it was just him and he was alone . . . not completely. Closing the door, he lowly whistled as he started calling a name out. Tinkling ringed in the air as a little golden-brown kitten came from around the corner, meowing by his call. Smiling, he hasn’t seen her in so long, he missed her. As the kitten stopped by his leg, rubbing her head again it he reached down and picked it up, making it meow even more. Rubbing her head, he walked about as he headed toward his phone in the hall. Seeing bright red light blink, he saw that someone left a message on his phone, since he's been staying at the studio working late nights. Coming to it, he pushed the button as he turned away and walked toward the kitchen to fix him something to eat. Listening, it was loud and clear hearing the message coming up.
I'm not home right now, so leave your name and number and I try to get back to you soon. Ja. Beep.
"Konnichi-wa Shu-chan! It's me, Ryuichi just wanted to know how have you been? I was hoping you haven't been watching the news because it not a good sight this time. But I'm not going to tell you because Tohma told me not to . . . oops! Anyway, I'm back in Tokyo for a while and was hoping we can get together sometime! Give me a call, and Kuma would answer it! Bye bye!" The first message ended as Shuichi stopped midway to the kitchen, looking back at the machine. Wondering what in the world he was talking about, he would have to ask him when they meet. Another message played as he listened. Realizing it was Hiro, he wondered what his friend wanted. "Hey Shuichi, just calling to check on you. I was making sure you took your medication and your shot. We don't need you fainting again on stage anymore. Also, I was wondering, have you seen the news lately? I mean, nothing major, but I think you should watch it . . . it's for the best. Well, give me a call later, I'm at K-san place. Talk to you later, Ja." That was the last message, ending all of it together.
Moving again, he walked into his kitchen, turning on the lights. Wondering why everyone was asking him if he saw the news, what was on there that, was so important for him to see? Deciding to do what everyone asked, but right now he wanted something to eat. Placing the kitten, she ran away, heading up the stairs and out of sight. Heading toward the fridge, he opened it and looked inside. Seeing it full of fresh food, he knew Hiro went shopping for him, since he also has a key to his apartment. Reaching in there, he took out some bacon, lettuces, and tomatoes and decided to make him a BLT sandwich. Preparing that stuff, his mind traveled back to memory lane as he remembers when he was learning how to cook. It was just him and Yuki, within the kitchen full of interesting stuff to make. The first thing Yuki taught him how to make was Yakisoba and of course he screwed that up. But he didn't give up and kept practicing until he got it correctly. By two weeks later, he was able to make it perfectly and surprised Yuki with a special dinner. He could remember the way Yuki expression was. He was smiling, rather grateful that he cooked and didn't have to cook. But what made him feel so wonderful is when Yuki complimented him.
He didn't know what to say, so he just cried with joy. That was one of many happy moments he remembered, but then it all came back and made him numb. Snapping out of his thoughts, he fixed his plate and headed toward the living room through the other door. Coming in, he knew he had to thank Ayaka and Hiro for taking care of his place for him. Coming around to the large couch, he flopped down throwing his feet on the coffee table. Resting his plate on the side, he reached on the lamp table to grabbed the remote of his plasma television [A/N: Wondering how rich he is . . . he lives in a mansion on the outskirts of Tokyo. Eight bedrooms, five bathrooms, large living room, etc. Hell that's what you get when you sing.] turning it on. The first thing that came on was a music video, remembering he didn't turn from the music channel. Listening to it, it was a song sung by his favorite group The Pillows. Listening to them, he started to eat quietly, watching the television. A few minutes later, the song end and cut off to the evening news, which made Shuichi brightens. Turning up the volume, the news woman came on as she started speaking.
"Good evening Tokyo, this is Kana Lio. Today's news is exciting because it will finally determine the love triangle that has been going on for years. As we all knew, Eiri Yuki, romance novelist use to date Shuichi Shindou, lead singer of Bad Luck. With the sudden break up and no make up, Yuki-sensei moved on and is going out with famous actress Ayame Toshiba, daughter of world renown actor Shinichi Toshiba. Now with bigger news, I just heard that yesterday at Ayame's movie premier, Yuki-sensei asked her to marry him. This is the first time we ever seen a live proposal on the stage when she was giving her speech. It was amazing. Here's a footage of his proposal . . ."
Shuichi eyes widen as he just replayed what the woman said. Yuki just asked some girl to marry him . . . on national television. Watching the footage of his proposal, he could feel nothing but absolute numbness. He couldn't think properly, that was for sure. As the footage went off, followed by the news, he turned off the television and sat there quietly. Starting blankly at the wall, what can he do. They broke up and moved on, it was completely over for them. Yuki for another, and as for him he hasn't found someone. All he does is mess around, luring young men and women into his room for a night that will never happen again. He wasn't completely happy; he will never be whole again. He would just continue to play this game until the end someone will get hurt and it would eventually be him. Hearing a plaintive meow coming from his cat, he looked down at it seeing bright green eyes looking up at him, wondering what's wrong. Sighing, he knew he was jealous even envious. What was he going to do now, this feeling he has, it was making him confuse. Regardless if the sparks burned out, he still felt something for the novelist. He still loved him, no matter what he did to him.
The cat meows again, getting his attention. Sighing sadly, that's why everyone wanted him to watch the news.
"I guess they wanted me to see that he is actually happy and finally moved on, eh Nao?" he whispered softly, as the kitten jumped up on the couch and walked over to him. Patting her head, he listened to the passive purr coming from her as her tail whipped back and forth, enjoying the treatment. "I don't know what to do anymore, Nao. Secretly, I can't live without him, he was my first love and will always have an effect within my heart. Why must I suffer such contentment?"
Nao meow, returning to her purring.
Violet eyes lowered, eyes becoming glossy. In two years, he never cried but he felt like crying. Blinking back the tears, he knew his heart ached so much. He couldn't take this pain he was feeling anymore. "I still love him, he still burns my heart. I don't know if I can even forget him as he forgot me. I don't think they will ever be another who would replace him."
Nao looked at him sadly, as she turned her head and licked his fingers. Showing her affection for him, he laughed softly seeing that she was trying to make him feel better.
"I guess . . . you can help me ease this pain. This suffrage . . ."
"Meow!"

This suffrage . . ."
"Meow!"
