Lost but not Forgotten
Chapter Three
The first thing the men noticed when they entered the room was the large bookcase in pieces on the ground, books scattered around. The long haired guitarist was inspecting the damage while Shuichi and Ryuichi clutched each other tightly in the corner.
“What happened?” Touma asked.
The older singer pouted before throwing himself into the blonde's arms. “I don't know! Shuichi and I were just looking around when the bookcase just fell over.”
“We weren't touching it at all. I swear!” Shuichi added.
K frowned as he strolled over to where Hiro was. “Were you in here as well?”
“No I just got here right before you. I was just checking to see if maybe the wood was rotted or something like that.”
“I swear I didn't knock it down. Kumagoro says so too,” Ryuichi repeated.
“Brat, we just got here. Don't tell me you're already destroying the place,” a voice muttered from the doorway.
The pink-haired teen whined as he bounced at the blonde. “Yuki! Don't be mean! We didn't do anything. It broke by itself.”
“I've heard that before,” the writer retorted.
“Yuki!”
“Calm down everyone. I'm sure Hiro is correct. This place is old. It's expected that some of the furniture and other items here would deteriorate with time,” Touma explained calmly.
“I bet it was a ghost!” Ryuichi exclaimed.
Touma and Yuki sighed softly as they shook their heads.
“I bet you're right! Come out, Come out Mr. Ghost! We're not going to hurt you,” Shuichi called out.
“Brat! You know there is no such thing as…” the blonde's voice suddenly stopped as the lights in the room cut out.
“What is going on with the lights in this place?” K muttered.
Both singers squealed as they tightened their holds on their lovers. Yuki let out a faint sigh before ruffling the pink hair. “Come on brat. Let's go somewhere that actually has light.”
The two left the room. Hiro quickly followed after, mentioning something about finding Suguru.
“I want out of this room,” Ryuichi whined, “Kumagoro says he's scared of the dark.”
Touma smiled as he kissed the singer on the forehead. “Don't worry. We'll leave. Are you coming K?”
The long haired male frowned before answering, “I'll meet up with you.” He waited patiently for them to leave, blinking in surprise when the lights flashed back to life.
“Something really weird is going on here,” he murmured. Blue eyes took in the broken wood, nothing how the perfect condition the material was in. `I don't see any rotted wooding. It's almost as if it just fell for no reason. I know it's stupid but maybe Ryuichi was right.'
K snorted at the thought. “What am I saying; there are no such things as ghosts.” He gazed around the room before returning his gaze to ruined bookcase. He sighed as he picked up a random book from the ground. “What the hell caused this to happen then?”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
One lone shimmering figure glided down the hallway, the slender figure translucent with only the bluish tint of color. The light bulb in the light hanging above his head shattering as the spirit frowned. He would have growled in frustration if he could have made a sound.
The intruders were a nuisance, especially the two hyperactive ones. This mansion was no place for happy thoughts. It was a world of darkness and despair. For hundreds of years it had been quiet, every individual who had dared to enter quickly leaving only shortly after. The seven people had only been there for half a day and already they were causing trouble.
The spirit paused when the faint sound of sorrowful music filtered through the air. He made his way through the hall, stopping when he reached the old music room. It hadn't been used since his time because most of the others who had entered the place had not bothered to touch it. Colorless eyes gazed into the doorway, the frown vanishing when he noticed the sad teen sitting on the bench. The song was heartbreaking, speaking volumes about how the individual was feeling.
His heart tugged, knowing the pain that the teenager felt. Before he could stop himself the ghost had slipped forward, allowing himself to become solid as he hugged the teen from behind.
Suguru suddenly broke from his negative realm, eyes widening when he noticed the translucent arms around his waist. His head turned as he struggled to breath at what he saw.
`It's a ghost! But… That's not possible. They don't exist.' He tried to reassure himself. `Well if they don't exist then what the hell is touching you?' He began to hyperventilate, pupils becoming dilated. The ghost quickly remembered his place, cursing himself for his lack of judgment. He smiled as he released the teen, praying that he wouldn't scream or pass out.
The keyboardist fought to control himself as he started at the figure. `Calm down, whatever it is he is not hurting you. He's smiling and just standing there. You'll be alright. Just calm down and breathe.' The blue haired teen took several deep breaths before allowing himself to speak, “What are you?”
The figure gave the teen a look that both he and Hiro had given Shuichi countless times. A look that plainly stated, `You already know the answer to that question, idiot.'
Suguru laughed for a moment before rubbing his head. “I know what you are. Although frankly I'm having a hard time believing it. I don't believe in ghosts. Yet here you are right in front of me.”
The ghost shrugged, the action causing some of his long hair to fall over the front of his shoulders. The teen took a hard look at the spirit, inspecting him carefully. Every part of the figure was transparent with a faint tint of blue being the only color to him. His long wavy hair fell down his back, with bangs that covered one eye completely and almost hid the other. The eyes were almond shape, the face carrying an air of sadness around it. The male appeared to be about 17 to 18 years old and was wearing a loose shirt that covered his neck and arms as well as a cloak that covered most of his lower body from view. `He's so young. I wonder how he died.'
Suguru blinked in surprise when the spirit suddenly vanished from view. A moment later Hiro entered the doorway, smiling at his band mate.
“You missed all the excitement?” he remarked.
The blue haired teen almost laughed at the idea. `I think I have you beat on that.' Instead of voicing that opinion however he quietly asked the older teen what had happened.
“It was so weird. This bookcase in another room just suddenly fell apart when Shuichi and Ryuichi were in there. They kept insisting that they didn't do anything to break it. Then Ryuichi suggested it was a ghost and Shuichi kept calling out to the spirit and the lights went out. It was wild,” Hiro informed.
The keyboardist frowned, wondering why the spirit had felt the need to destroy something. “You don't believe that, do you?”
Hiro laughed. “Of course not. I'm sure it was just old. Things tend to break all the time when they're as ancient as this place is. I'm heading outside to look around. Would you like to come with me?”
Suguru found himself blushing as he considered the prospect of being along with the long haired male. “No thank you. Maybe you can show me what you found later on?”
Hiro sighed inwardly as he nodded. “Sure thing. I'll see you in a bit.”
The teen stared longingly as the other male left the room. As soon as the individual was gone from sight the ghost reappeared, a smirk on his face. He pointed to the door before throwing his gaze towards the blue haired figure.
Suguru found himself blushing again, realizing that he had been found out. “I don't really like him.”
The ghost rolled his eyes, allowing his body to solidify again as he lightly tapped the teen's forehead with his fingers.
“Stop that! Ok, I admit I do have a bit of a crush on him. It doesn't matter though. Why would he like someone like me?” he murmured.
The ghost frowned at the familiar tone. He knew what it was like to love someone from afar and then when that desire was obtained to have it ripped from your life forever. He slipped the negative thoughts from his mind, giving the teen a pat on the back.
Suguru smiled at the friendly act. “Thank you. So… why am I the only one you'll show yourself to? Is it because I'm like you? I know you're sad about something too. Or else you wouldn't still be living in this house.”
The ghost froze the idea of bolting prominent in his mind.
“It's alright. I understand being alone. I always feel like I'm not part of the group. I promise I won't tell the others about you. Frankly they would all probably think I was insane. Except for Shuichi, who would insist we go ghost hunting, and Ryuichi, who would dress Kumagoro up in a detective hat with a microscope,” the teen shuttered at the thought, “That is something I would never want to deal with.”
The ghost scowled at the mention of the two, causing one of the chairs in the room to crash to the ground.
The teen jumped at the action. “I'm guessing you don't like those two? They're very hard to handle. Half the time I'm working with Shuichi I just want to strangle him. He can be so irritating.”
The spirit smirked and would have laughed had he been able to. At least there was one individual in this house who understood what he was going through, possibly two considering those looks of longing he'd seen in the long haired male's eyes. `If I can't be happy the least I can do is see to it that these two get together. I just hope I can survive those two hyperactive idiots in the meantime.'
