Chapter 1: The Accident
“Say it!” Shuichi whined. A pout graced his delicate features.
“No.” Yuki stated blankly, glaring at the pouting singer.
“Why nottttt?”
“Because you're annoying, you damned brat.”
Shuichi began to tear up. “But, but… I love you Yuki! Why can't you just say it back to me, you fucking prick?”
Yuki lit his cigarette, blowing a puff of smoke absentmindedly. He really hated when the pink haired singer started whining and tearing up. Acting like a spoiled brat, a child. Sometimes he wished the pink singer would just be satisfied with something, and then shut up. “What's the point of saying words that have no meaning?” his amber eyes were challenging Shuichi to say something else.
He knew the words sounded harsh, he knew he was breaking Shuichi's heart saying those world shattering words. But he was just too stressed out, too annoyed, to even think or care about the Shuichi's reactions.
By now arguing back and forth on this subject had become an almost daily routine. Shuichi would say: “I love you“. Then Yuki would just give a glare in response before lighting up a cigarette, or sipping a can of beer. Afterwards Shuichi would do anything and everything to get the blonde to say just those three words. Play hard to get, act cute, and become whore-ish. He'd do just about anything just to get Yuki to say those three simple words.
To Shuichi… those three words from Yuki meant the world to him.
Just hearing Yuki say: “I love you” with that husky deep voice of his could send shivers down his spine, and make his heart beat quicken. They way their eyes locked, amber piercing into pure purple could completely melt the pink haired teen into a puddle of goo. When the blonde's arms slithered their way around his thin and tiny waist pulling Shuichi closer to his chest… when their lips made contact, it would drive Shuichi insane and make his mind go blank.
However getting Yuki to say those words, to act solely on pure emotion was not an easy feat to complete.
However don't get Yuki wrong, he did have feelings for Shuichi. Hell, if you walked up and asked the blonde who he loved the most in the world, before he would give a cocky answer of “myself”, Shuichi would flash through his mind. It's just that he couldn't help but find it fun to annoy and tease the brat. It was just so easy to make him cry, and he looked pretty damn cute when he did.
His cheeks would get all red and puffy like while his purple eyes with newly arriving crystal like water droplets. Okay, maybe it was a tad bit sadistic for Yuki to find it adorable to make Shuichi cried. But in the end he would give in to Shuichi's pleas and say: “I love you” into his ear and kiss him passionately. After that the two would end up on the bed, making sweet love.
“Every time you do this to me, Yuki! Every single damned time!” Shuichi could feel his anger rising as he bit onto his bottom lip. “I can't handle much more of this!” Shuichi screamed as he balled his hands into fists.
Yuki smirked, “Is that so?” he blew a puff of smoke near Shuichi's face “What are you going to do? Run away? Threaten me? Give me a good punch to the face?” he was pushing it. Yuki knew that. He could see the anger manifesting even larger in those wide purple eyes of his. “You don't have the balls.”
Shuichi began to cry… hard. One by one, the tears fell onto the plush padded carpet. “Watch me!” he screamed as he ran to the door. Before he walked out he yelled out with all his heart, “I hate you!” and slammed the door.
As Shuichi's footsteps diminished, the ashes from Yuki's cigarette fell.
Outside Apartment
Hiroshi was the long life friend of Shuichi Shindou. They've been close since they were in diapers. Playing in the sandbox and doing what best friends do. Right now, he was leaning against his motorcycle waiting for his best friend to come out with bright big purple eyes and a flushed face (meaning he just finished having sex with Yuki) waiting to tell him all about his day with his favorite writer.
He did this everyday right after band practice. Wait for his favorite pink headed singer to run out that door. Hiro told himself that he didn't care if his best friend, and crush, was head over heels with another man. Someone who was much older, much more handsome…much worldlier, then he was. Even though he loved Shuichi with all his heart and wished to hold the little pink haired teen in his arms he knew that Yuki would hold a bigger place in Shuichi's heart.
However, that didn't matter most of the time. As long as he could see Shuichi's smile, the one that brightened up his day…he could somewhat bear seeing Shuichi with another man.
Hiro threw his keys into the air and expertly caught them. He glanced at his watch, `Shuichi should be coming any moment now.'
Right on cue, Hiro could see the top of Shuichi's pink hear as he heard the door to Yuki's flat close. Shuichi walked straight past Hiro, a shadow covering his face.
“Shu?” Hiro asked confusingly with worry ebbed in his voice.
“I'm so pissed off! He does this every freaking time. It's not fair!” Shuichi screamed as he stomped around. The pink haired singer took out his frustrations by kicking the wall a couple of times.
“What's wrong this time? Did Yuki climax too fast?” Hiro asked jokingly. His face pulled into a playful smirk. If anyone was going to be an “early bird” would be Shuichi hands down.
Shuichi shook his head furiously. “Noooo!” he blushed wildly and Hiro couldn't help but laugh a little at the fuming singer. “Normally I'm the one that gets too caught up in the moment and climax first but that's not the point here Hiro!”
Hiro mentally erased the image of Shuichi climaxing with his face all flushed and scrunched up in pleasure, and those sweet delicious moans that would erupt from him. Just thinking about it made his pants feel a little tighter than usual. “Then what's the point Shu?” he asked as he threw his keys back into the air and caught them.
“The point issss,” he drew out the words. “I have to force my lover to say three freakin' words!”
Hiro began to fiddle with some strands of hair, “Let me guess… those words are: I love you?”
Shuichi threw his arms in the air in exasperation, “Yes! Hiro you have no idea how insecure I feel when I'm around him sometimes!” he placed his head on Hiroshi's strong and warm chest. “I just want something definite in my life…” he finished off softly as he mumbled into the fabric of his shirt.
Hiro gave his friend a tight squeeze along with a “friendly” kiss on the top of Shuichi's head. “I'm something definite, Shu.” he whispered into Shuichi's ears. “You'll never lose me.”
Shuichi smiled, “Thank you Hiro! I loveeee you.”
“I love you too, Shu.” he dangled his keys in front of Shuichi. “Want me to take you home?”
“Nah,” Shuichi replied as he untangled himself from Hiro “I actually want to be alone right now… you know to think. I'll call you though. Okay?”
Hiro nodded and revved up his engine. He watched as Shuichi crossed the street, however the pink haired teen stopped in the middle of the street to wave goodbye to his friend.
“Byeeee Hirroooo!” he yelled as he blew an air kiss to Hiro.
Hiro smiled a little while on the inside his heart rate was going into overtime. “Bye Shui-” Before he could finish his sentence a car drove and crashed into Shuichi. The last thing Shuichi remembered seeing was the headlights and the horns, the screaming and the blood.
“SHUICHIIII!”
From inside the apartment Yuki saw the whole thing, but he was unable to move. Instead he dropped to the floor and went into a coughing hysteria. His worst nightmare had come to life.
Before Shuichi dropped into the darkness of unconsciousness he remembered three words… and a face.
I love you.
