Gravitation Fan Fiction ❯ Valentines ❯ Valentines ( Chapter 1 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Shuichi had it all planned out. He had just about everything that he needed to make his and Yuki's Valentines day a complete, sex filled dream. He just needed to get down to the store for some supplies that he used to have, but had “accidentally eaten” the day before.

The singer looked at the clock above the sink. It read five twenty two.
“Perfect!” Shuichi cried happily as he dashed out of the kitchen and back towards the bedroom. Everything was all going exactly to plan!

The vocalist stripped out of his orange shorts and wife beater and pulled on some jeans and a gray short sleeved FCUK tee-shirt he had picked up at Daiikanyama [1] Store in Shibuya. His Dolce sunglasses [2] and baseball hat were both hanging on the back of the door, so he wouldn't forget to put them on.
He didn't really like the idea of keeping two hundred and fifty dollar sunglasses precariously perched on an object that repeatedly swung open and closed, but Yuki had put his foot down about it after they had been chased through the park for what the blonde had said was “The last fucking time!”. It hadn't been his fault, Ryu had needed a disguise and he was way more popular. It had seemed like the right thing to do at the time, though Yuki hadn't bought it.

After he had his clothes more or less pulled on and straightened out, Shuichi headed down the hall and into Eiri's office. He smiled deviously and giggled when he saw his flat black prey sitting exactly where he knew it would be. He tip toed menacingly over to his lover's desk, arms raised up under his chin in classic villain fashion, as if to freighted the painfully inanimate object he was “stalking”.

His plan was extremely simple and going exactly as he had planned. Shu smiled evilly as he unplugged and de-corded the machine and tucked it away in it's carrying case.
Slinging the strap over his shoulder, he made a mad dash from the office and ran down the hall into his old bedroom, laughing maniacally the whole way as if he had just pushed a kid into the girls washroom at school and ran away.

He quieted down and opened the door , reaching over and switching on the light. There were a few things still left in the room from when he used to sleep there most nights. His pillow, his old computer and a couple of pairs of shoes that he no longer liked. The rest of the room was basically for storage.

Being back in there after so long sent a twang of nostalgic languor through his body as he remembered what is used to be like living with Yuki.
In the earliest days of their relationship, Yuki got tired of him sleeping on the couch and messing up the living room, so he gave him his own bedroom. Shuichi used to sleep in there most of the time, unless Yuki allowed him into his bedroom and even then those times were limited to when they were having sex. Very rarely had the older man invited Shuichi to come and sleep with him for no reason, though it had happened one or two times.

Shuichi sighed and weaseled his way around a few stacks of boxes and a familiar, rolled up, spare futon [3] to get to the closet at the back of the room.
Ever since his blonde lover had allowed him to move into, and share his bedroom on a more or less permanent bases, Shuichi made every attempt to avoid his former residence. It brought back too many lonely nights that he would rather not think about.

After sticking the computer bag deep in the back of the closet, Shuichi brushed his hands together in satisfaction and exited the room. He hopped happily down the hallway and stuck his head around the corner into the kitchen to check the time.
`five thirty three…still lots of time.' He thought as he dashed onward down the hall toward the front door.
The vocalist removed his red baseball cap and sunglasses from the newly installed hook on the back of the front door and put them on. He grabbed his winter coat and laid it over his arm. He balanced himself against the wall with one arm as he slid his feet into his winter boots.

After tossing his coat on, he exited the apartment and locked the door behind him.

All this commotion over Valentines day and love and chocolate got him thinking about a new idea for a song. He soon found himself humming random tunes and thinking up lyrics all the way to the elevator.

He pressed the button and stood there humming, tapping his foot and looking around at the familiar hallway. As he waited, Shuichi remembered that he had a pack of bubble gum in his coat pocket and immediately reached in to grab a piece.
He was just beginning to wonder whether the elevator was working when it finally reached his floor and the silver doors slid open.
What they revealed to him was something out of his worst nightmares.

There, standing inside the elevator, was a pack of giggly teenage girls, four of them to be exact. They obviously lived in the building because otherwise they wouldn't have been able to get through the front door, though he had never seen them before.
Shuichi lowered his head so that the brim of his hat concealed his face and bravely he stepped into the car.
He felt like a diver in tighty-whities being pushed into a shark tank with nothing but a sharpened tooth brush to defend himself with. The only difference here, was that he didn't actually have a sharpened tooth brush and he wasn`t wearing tighty-whities.

“…was telling me that she went to the mall the other day and bought their new CD for--”
The girl stopped talking to her friends when Shuichi entered the car and hit the button for the first floor.

“PleaseleavemealonepleaseleavemealonepleaseleavemealoneR 21; Shuichi muttered under his breath as he rocked nervously on the heels of his boots and clenched his gum between his teeth. This was a mistake in the making. While he was muttering and rocking and grinding his teeth he had missed the girls whispering about him.

“Umm …excuse me?” One of the girls asked timidly. Shuichi glanced over at her, being careful not to reveal too much of his face. This one was wearing a Bad Luck concert T-shirt and a ponytail. Her arms were behind her back.
`Oh no…' Shuichi groaned inwardly, `I'm dead…'

“We um…we were just wondering if uh….you were umm…uhh I-if you….” The girl was shy and blushing and couldn`t seem to finish her sentence. Her girlfriends were offering encouragement and nudging her with their elbows.

“Go on Hitomi-chan ask him,” Shu heard one of the other girls whisper hurriedly.
His inward groaning and fear was getting worse. He knew what was coming.

“Okay fine!” The girl said finally as she bowed low before him,, “ I'm very sorry to bother you, but my friends and I wanted to know if you would sign this for us.”
The girl produced a soft blue card and a black felt pen.

“One of our friends was in a car accident and we're on our way to visit her in the hospital. Please, would you sign this for her Shindo-ku- uh..-san. I-it would mean a lot to her, she`s your biggest fan.”

Shuichi instantly let down his guard as a wave of guilt flooded through him. He had been in “book-it” mode for when the doors opened and all these girls wanted was an autograph for their hurt friend. He lifted his chin off of his chest and smiled at them.
One of them sighed, two just smiled back and the girl in front just turned ever redder.

This was the best behaved group of teenage girls he had ever encountered, especially since they were the autograph hound type. They weren't exactly what he'd call `hounds' though, they were more like `puppies' or `kittens'.

“Of course I can,” He said sweetly as he took the card and pen in his hands. Just as he was about to ask who it was for, they reached the ground floor. One of the girls sighed as though she thought that he had only been signing it because there hadn't been anywhere for him to run off to.
This left a strange feeling in the pit of Shuichi's stomach. He wasn't sure what it was.

`Do I come off as someone who would brush off fans?'
He thought critically as he led the girls through the lobby doors over to one of the tables in the courtyard.

`I don't want to seem mean. I like signing autographs…I just don't like the `being chased' part…'
He decided to show them that he wasn't like the other celebrities, That he cared enough to take time for his fans.

He went over and kneeled on a bench so he could sign the card; the girls bunched around him.

“Her name is Shitoku Masa-chan,” A girl in Pigtails and a red jacket said when Shu opened the card.
He uncapped the pen and mumbled “To…my…bigg..est fan…Masa…-chan. I hope..you…get ..bet…ter….soon. All …my lo…ve and well…wishes…to you…this valen…tines day, Shindo Shuichi” as he wrote it down, as if verbally reassuring himself that it was spelled correctly and sounded all right.

“Is she in the hospital just down that way?” Shuichi asked as he handed the card and re-capped pen back to the girl he had received them from.
He pointed to the left, down the semi-busy street.

The girl in the Bad Luck Tee-shirt looked up at him.
“uh….Yes,” She said shyly.

Shuichi had the inner workings of a plan forming in his head.
“Eir----er a friend of mine stayed there once when he got sick. It's a good hospital and I'm sure they'll take good care of Masa-chan. Make her all better, You know?”

All the girls nodded assuredly and thanked him profusely for his time and the autographed card.

“No problem!” He said as he stood up ,“ Just don't make to big of a habit of asking for autographs in elevators. Some of us are bit shy and jumpy and you could scare us away!”

The girls all agreed and thanked him again. One of the girls even gave him a quick hug around his middle before dashing to the back of the group to hide, blushing profusely.

Shuichi smiled and waved as he walked away, down the street.
This would be one Valentines day Shitoku Masa would not forget.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>& gt;>>>>>.

Just after the girls were out of ear shot, Shuichi called K and asked him to bring him a bunch of female orientated Bad Luck merchandise from the NG building. Most of their stuff was uni-sex for fairly obvious reasons, but they did have some things just for the girls and some just for the guys.

The American hadn't really asked to many questions and showed up barely fifteen minutes later with a big paper bag full of stuff. The bag contained a baby cut T-shirt from their latest concert, a hat and a few other things. Shu thanked K and ran back up to the apartment to get a few of his own things to add to the gift.
Stuff with Bad Luck on it was good, but if he were in her place he knew he would be ecstatic to receive a personal belonging or photograph.
He wasn't exactly sure what to give her, mostly because he didn't know her, but he just thought of what he would have liked to receive from Ryuichi back when he had still been a proverbial nobody.

Soon, a few of his family photo's, including one of Eiri and himself, the yellow vinyl jacket he had worn on stage with Ryuichi when “Glaring Dream” had first debuted and one of his infamous leather dog collars, were all in the brown bag with the other stuff.

After sprinting like a mad man down and out of the building, he wound up in a convenience store. He purchased a large gift bag into which everything from the brown bag was put, black and red Sharpies, and a stuffed pink kitten.

He bought a bouquet of flowers at the hospital and then went to wait on a shaded bench were he wasn`t conspicuous.

After what seemed like hours, Shuichi looked up from his place on the bench when he heard the girls chattering as they exited the hospital. He had been waiting for them to leave so he could finally go in and see Shitoku-san.

“She looked a lot better today, didn't she?” One of the girls said to the group.
They all agreed and headed to the left, back towards the direction of the apartment.

Shuichi gripped the pink and white gift bag he had next to him and stood up.
He walked into the hospital and immediately knew he was lost. He had no clue were this girl was, but after standing around looking like a lost idiot, a passing nurse took pity on him and asked him if he needed some help.

“Yes, I'm looking for a Masa Shintoku,” Shuichi said gratefully, “She was in a car accident and I'm not sure were she might be.”

The nurse kindly asked for the women's age and upon receiving Shuichi's general estimate, she directed him to the recovery wing.

He took an elevator up to the third floor and walked down the hall until he came to the nurses station.
Luckily for Shu, the nurse he had gotten the girls room number from was old and had bought his “ I'm her older brother” bit.
He followed the nurses directions and soon ended up outside Masa's door. He knocked on the door, because it was closed.

“Come in,” a female voice called out softly.
Shuichi took a deep breath and opened the door.
The room he entered was like any other hospital room. White, sterile and fairly impersonal. There were a few vases of flowers scattered on available surfaces and a number of teddy bears. There was also several books and a magazine on the bedside table.

When Shuichi stepped into view the girl drew herself up slightly because he was not someone she recognized. Shuichi noticed she had the blue get well card he had signed clasped in her hands
“Who are you? Your not a doctor! What do you want?”

“Don't worry, calm down!” Shu said quickly as he set the gift bag down on the floor and set the flowers in a chair.
He put his hands up defensively to show her that he wasn't going to hurt her.
When she looked relaxed enough, he spoke to her again, as he slowly removed his hat.
“I was told by some girls that live in my building,” Shu said as he set his hat down and started to pull off his sunglasses, “ That you're a big fan of mine.”

He looked her in the eyes and smiled warmly.
“I'm Shindo Shuichi,” He said as he bowed, “ It's a pleasure to meet you.”

The girl was speechless. She just held the card tighter and stared open mouthed at him.
Shuichi wasn't sure if she would say anything at all when she finally sputtered out “ Nice to meet you too!”

He smiled at her again and picked the flowers and gift bag up. He pulled a chair close to the bed and sat down.

“I brought you some get well gifts,” He said as he handed the shocked girl the bouquet of flowers and the bag for gifts.
She thanked him up and down and set the flowers on the free bedside table so she could open the gift bag.

Shuichi was at the hospital until visiting hours were over and Masa still couldn't believe that he was actually there. He autographed everything she asked him to and even sang “Anti Nostalgic” for her, because she said it was her favorite song. She mouthed the words as he sang.
They talked about lots of different things and when the nurse came in to tell him it was time to go, Masa worked up the courage to ask him for a hug.
He had obliged her request and gave her a gentle hug. He could hear her sniffling and as they broke apart she quickly wiped her eyes.

Shuichi gave her another one of his broad grins and she just smiled back.
Just before he exited the room, He pulled out the sharpie and a note pad that he usually used when lyrics floated into his head, and asked her for the names of her four friends that came and visited her that day. He wanted to make sure that they got front row tickets and V.I.P passes for his next concert. Masa stared at him in wonder, as if asking herself “What did I do to deserve this? How did I get so lucky?”

She gave him the names and he thanked her for a wonderful evening. She returned his gratitude ten fold and wished him a happy valentines day as he left.

When Eiri walked into the apartment at eight o'clock he immediately knew something wasn't right. The horrendous odor of burnt food was missing, the lights were off and there weren't any candles lit and the house seemed far to quiet to be normal. He immediately thought that Shuichi had been kidnapped or something because he always, always managed to concoct some “delicious” surprise dinner that he “made with love just for him” on valentines day. Sex usually followed, but that was a giver.
The novelist immediately turned on the lights and called out for his missing lover.

“Shuichi? Are you home?”
He moved quietly into the kitchen to look for a note. There wasn't one.
He checked the bedroom, the bathroom and finally his study.
The first thing he noticed was that his lap top was missing.
He. Was. Furious.

“Shuichi!“ he shouted angrily, “Where are you, you little ass hole and what did you do with my computer?”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

From outside the apartment, Shuichi heard the sound of Eiri yelling and he winced. He was in deep trouble now.
He hadn't planned on being gone, so there was nothing laid out and Eiri's computer was still in the spare room.

“I bet he's upset because I didn't' cook supper…” Shuichi mumbled as he walked into the house.

“Eiri! I'm home!”
The blonde was immediately in the living room.

“Where is it Shuichi?” Eiri asked sternly, his hands on his hips, “What did you do with my laptop?”

“Relax,” The singer said quietly as he hung up his hat, coat and sunglasses, “It's in the closet in the spare room.”

Eiri was off instantly to retrieve it. When he walked by scowling and carrying it like it was a bomb just waiting to explode, Shuichi half expected him to pull a Golum impersonation and start stroking it and calling it “ his precious.” Shuichi laughed at the mental picture that thought created.

When the laptop was securely plugged in and hooked up on it's mahogany throne, Eiri came back into the living room to confront Shuichi.

“What the hell was it doing back there?” He asked as he motioned toward the end of the hall and the spare bedroom.

Shuichi sighed and began to relay his devious plans. He had hopped that he could have at least saved them for next year or Eiri's birthday, but he didn't' have a choice if he wanted to sleep in the master bedroom that night.
He also explained about the girls and the hospital and everything that had happened and when he was done he just sank to the floor and cried.
Yuki rolled his golden eyes and sat down beside his lover. He put an arm around him and hugged him.

“Don't cry you retard,” he said in a demanding, yet soft tone, “That was the nicest thing I've ever heard. Do you know how happy you made that girl today?”

“Yes,” Shuichi agreed, “But I ended up ruining our valentines day though, aren't you mad at me?”

Eiri flashed him a small smile and kissed his forehead.
Shuichi smiled up at the novelist and was about to say something when Yuki smiled at him slyly and leaned in close to him.

“You don't honestly think that I haven't got something planned for us tonight?” He whispered softly against the singer's ear.

Shuichi looked at him and smiled.
“No of course not.”

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
After one of Yuki's original recipe fish dishes, chocolate and fruit in the bathtub and some of the most amazing sex they had had in a long time, Shuichi curled up against Eiri's chest and couldn't imagine spending valentines any other way. He leaned up gently and whispered “ I love you” in Yuki's ear before snuggling into the covers and falling fast asleep.
